Part of me feels wrong for hating on Jeremy, but that gets trumped by the feeling of rage by how inaccurate their videos are and how much BS they manage to shove into videos. THE BOOKS DO MATTER, B*TCH!!!

I just find it funny that the one time Jeremy potentially used Ex Machina correctly (The Eternals are quite literally machines from Gods and Phastos being the inventor introduces a new helpful thing late into the story) there's so many things wrong with the rest of what he said lol
Alas, gods and machines being involved still doesn't make the complaint accurate. Originally, 'deus ex machina' was a contrivance in Greek plays where a god would come out of absolutely nowhere at the last minute and fix the plot. It doesn't apply in a story where the characters have been portrayed as having godlike abilities, including superintelligence.
Ah, that is a good point, thank you for clarifying. I said "potentially" because I'm more used to the watered-down cliche version of the term and I realized there was likely room for error, so I'm glad you were able to share the actual intended definition

Despite the flaws, for me Eternals was nowhere near as bad as people say it was. Hopefully when they reappear again they’ll be given a better chance to shine.
Edit: BTW if Jeremy wants to complain about a 2021 superhero movie that should have been a miniseries, he should have watched the animated Injustice movie.

Really the biggest flaws was some parts dragged and could've been used for us the audience to be more connected to the characters because I barely felt any emotion towards them except for Druig (his motivation I could connect with and really stood out to me). The "romance" between Sersi & Ikaris felt more forced as there wasn't much chemistry between them, heck Druig & Makkari's chemistry was done better. Also, Ajak was very wasted and her explaining to Ikaris about humanity should live felt odd as we the audience don't see her connection with humanity, not even a montage. That part was a very tell instead of show

Thor literally says he's 1500 years old in IW. How is "the Eternals showed up here 7000 years ago and don't remember anything before that" his point _against_ any of them knowing Thor? They couldn't have met him _before_ they got to earth, he wasn't _born_ yet
I was thinking the same thing 😂 like Jeremy it doesn't MATTER that the Eternals were reset and sent to earth 7000 years ago, Thor wasn't born until WAY LATER anyway! Of course he could have reasonably met little Thor!

I’m on the fence about them. Don’t get me wrong, I love the actual rebuttal and defense Th3Birdman provides, but on the other hand the amount of typos and grammatical errors are downright PAINFUL for me to read.

I had someone ask me the same thing about why Phastos doesn't like Ikaris before the events of this movie, and I've repeatedly pointed out in how much of an asshole Sunny Boy has been. Since the Eternals are pretty much family, Ikaris is that one cousin you have to restrain yourself from smacking, because of how highly he thinks of himself.
He’s the embodiment of the subtle scene in *Spider-Man: Homecoming* where you can tell that Peter knows he can punt Flash all the way to Attilan from Queens, but he doesn’t want to.

Jeremy making the comment about having the movie be a show instead really feels like CinemaSins just hears popular criticism from elsewhere on the internet and throws it in to score points from people who simply agree with it without any further thought

10:30 The movie implies earlier on that humanity actually took much longer than most other races to reach a sustainable level, as seen by the Eternals arguing when their mission would be done. Humanity isn't the best example of morality, we're just so shit at developing that the Eternals had enough time to learn to pity us

For me I think the pacing was a little off for the Eternals. I definitely liked Makkari and the little relationship she and Druig had. It wasn't the best movie but it was far from the worst.
I feel they really dropped the ball with the Deviant that was killing the Eternals and taking their powers (googled around and learnt his name was Kro). They could have had a "we all fight Ikaris" scene and Kro taking it too far, necessitating their need to kill him rather than being a vehicle to keep the plot going in the first and second acts.
Or they could have flipped him and made him a good guy as his killing was mostly based on instinct and the fact that he's seen/knows the Eternals have been killing his kind, learning the truth that they were both duped and being offered a hand to stick it to the Celestials.
I watched cinemasins for awhile before discovering this channel and I still watch both today, to the people criticising that you're making fun of CS or "riding on their coattails" that's exactly what CS does with Hollywood movies, don't be biased and go match the energy you show here over there

If I'm being honest, I though the plot to this film and the characters were okay, not exactly captivating but nowhere annoying. What this movie does for me is the lore and world building that I feel we will see payed off down the road. I know some dislike world building but when it's done well, I demand seconds.
The world building was my favorite part of the movie. A lot of the early phases of the MCU were very grounded so it was nice to see an MCU movie go all in on the outlandish stuff
Agreed on worldbuilding angles. Much as I may not have liked how often they jumped back and forth in time for the presentation, I did have a blast trying to immediately pinpoint where in history/mythology they were, i.e. the initial scenes of them in ancient Mesopotamia, with presumably Gugulanna (or the mythological basis thereof) charging down the gates.
The sins are so bad, we needed two videos to unpack all of CinemaSins’ BS!

1:40-1:55 I don't mind the Disney+ shows being released on a weekly basis. One of the problems with binge series is that viewers who're just getting into the show will be spoiled by Day 2, if not launch day. Besides, I like to have a break to collect my thoughts and discuss my opinions on an episode.
Especially since Netflix is losing money with the binge format nowadays.

My main problem with Jeremy singing is, he can't hold a note. He's so off key. As someone who did choir in highschool, his singing hurts me so much.
Since the end credit was mentioned, I'm just gonna say that I'll be so mad if the new Blade isn't R rated, PG13 ain't gonna cut it with a character like him

PG-13 isn't at all the rating we grew up on....things that should be TVMA or NC17 is now Rated R (Tampa rapper pun included)
I agree and disagree on the miniseries angle. I do think it would've helped the pacing, as so much was thrown at us that it was difficult for me to connect with many of the characters (except Makkari. Makkari rules.) But that would've meant restructuring the plot to a serial format that many likely would chafe against. I'm testing myself on this by waiting to binge Moon Knight in one go.
Either way, keep doing what you do, brother.
No spoilers, but watching MK in one sitting will probably ruin the impact of one of the twists. *Probably*

Including the famous line from the first Blade movie was pure genius LOL! I just finished watching the Eternals the other night and I watched Cinema Sins immediately after and I thought to myself "Yeah I think Jeremy finally made some excellent points about this movie" and then I watched your video and then I thought "well crap I can't believe I missed that!" I think the funniest thing is that Jeremy very obviously hates Marvel Movies. He doesn't like their tropes, and is probably still seething about the Batman vs Superman thing and in general that Marvel Movies are doing better than DC ones.
And yet, he's forced to watch them. Because he doesn't have a choice. He's cultivated a career of saying inane bullshit over any popular movie. His fans wouldn't let him just ignore a Marvel movie. And so, slave to the algorithm and the audience, he must continue to watch them.

MCU's first Star Wars reference was it being on Steve's catch up list in Winter Soldier. Jeremy sinned that list a few times in Winter Soldier. Also agreed how did Jeremy apparently think that Tony and Steve were friends again after Civil War, they didn't mend things until Endgame.

Phastos and Iron Man are the same. Both derived from Hephaestus also known as the Iron Man represented in Greek mythology wielding the hammer that Tony Stark used to create Mach 1.
