I bet he's gained 10lbs of lean mass and he is more cut than when he started. Is his body naturally obtainable? Yeah probably. You'd have to have some pretty sick genetics to stay that lean and have that type of muscle fullness. Very rare but possible. But based upon 35 year old Jeff's body? I call BS. Probably low dose TRT for several years now.

      @EnkiriElite  3 роки тому +13

      Yeah, this whole segment is just a snippet I took from a previous video of mine to point to the fact that his "credentials" can no longer be used as a valid argument of him having a clue about what he's talking about...because he came onto UA-cam after getting his degree and working in the MLB, and when he first appeared on the UA-cam scene this was the sort of "functional" training he was espousing. So this is apparently the knowledge base he acquired from his formal credentials.

      No expert here, so I only speak from personal experience and as an exercise enthusiast. At 18 seconds, Jeff does a single-leg deadlift thing with two dumbbells. Looks awkward. I would just do it with one dumbbell or no weight. Nice warm up exercise that challenges one’s balance. core coordination, and flexibility. Soccer players and running backs often find themselves in this position. Watch old tapes of Diego Maradona. Later on he does push-ups on medicine balls. That is not a bad stretch to add to push-ups. Some of the presses with cables or bands pulling from the side require good core contraction. Doing foot taps on a ball are a nice dimension to add to agility work. Lunging with a medicine ball overhead is a great total body exercise. Jeff looks awkward at times, but not all of the exercises are bad. I don’t like adding in crazy balancing elements with weights as Jeff does. Lifting is hard enough. But, balance is so important into sport. As a coach, I would prefer an athlete with good balance and stopping ability over an athlete who is powerful and quick but lacks these qualities.

    I actually bought his athleanx program and he has SOME decent exercises such as pull-ups, rotator cuff band workout, chest squeeze plates, etc. But was it worth paying all that money? Nah. My philosophy is the same as Bruce Lee's take what is useful and reject the unnecessary.
    For instance take in the inverted rows that Jeff suggests, reject his squat and bench press advice. And thank you Elite Enkiri! Your wheel ab wheel roll-out advice is freaking amazing man. So yeah, take in what is useful from Scott Herman, Coach Greg, Enkiri Elite Fitness, Scooby1961, Athleanx, etc. Does that mean that everyone is perfect and their advice is always right? Hell no, but take what actually works from them and make your own fitness journey to achieve your physique. But most importantly, do not do these exercises.

    It's a pretty accurate assessment of how modern athletes train. They take their gear and do a few nonsense exercises that won't injure them before practice then go on the net and call everyone who accuses them of gear use a lazy liar for a few hours before going to bed.

    • @joebloggs6922

      1. he is not marketing these exercises to athletes, he is marketing them to average people who want to "look like athletes."
      2. Just no. Hopping up and down on top of a fucking medicine ball does not make you a better soccer player in any way. It does not improve your foot work. Pretending to throw in a med ball does not make you "better at throw ins." Standing on one leg does not enhance agility or speed.
      If you actually knew anything about training you'd know that.
