Some of these inductees are just crazy considering all those who are not yet in the hall of fame. Like: Jim Croce, Sting, Huey Lewis and the News, Phil Collins, Motley Crue, INXS, Billy Idol, Don Henley, Queensryche, Ratt, Megadeth, Tool, The Cranberries, Mana, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Alanis Morissette, Korn, Kid Rock, Slaughter, Mike and the Mechanics, Starship, Pantera, Dokken, Tears For Fears, Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, Eddie Money, Quiet Riot, Motorhead, Boston, Styx, Ted Nugent, The J. Geils band, The Commodores, and on and on.

So many rock groups from the 70s and 80s havent been inducted yet and it seems like they only make the cut if they're really old or have passed away. Really sad

The 80's was a great decade of music...R&B, pop, heavy metal, New Wave, grunge...from Madonna, MIchael Jackson, Run DMC, Nirvana, Metallica, and just tons more, just a great diversity of music in general

Im happy that Mary J Blige, Cher, Kool and The Gang, A Tribe Call Quest made it to Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Im dissapointed that Mariah Carey didnt get in. I was rooting for her after she was nominate. But dont worry next year Mariah will be back and will get induct next year in 2025.Lenny Kravitz will be back next year.
The great Ozzy was a shoe in. If he didn't make it than you would know for sure the R&R Hall Of Fame was full of it after last years mess up with Iron Maiden

I love the rock and roll hall of fame.
Well they have a lot of people in there who deserve to be in there but manoman have they done some bonehead moves over the years and went off the rails for awhile to the point people like Gene Simmons wanted to get an investment group together, buy it , and fire everybody . Finally over the past decade Steve Miller , the Zombies , Moody Blues , ELO , TRex , and Roxy Music made it in there. I still don’t like that way out of box thinking by including Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson . Wonderful Artists but rocknroll ? I am not really a Heavy Metal fan but there have been far too many rappers admitted and too few Metal Artists . This was a good class this year . So glad that Peter Frampton and Foreigner made it

It seems like Cher is long overdue because at first glance, she’s this pop culture icon who’s been famous since the 60s. In the 60s, however, she was famous for her variety show.
Additionally, “Sonny and Cher” is considered a separate entity than “Cher” as a solo artist. The fame she achieved as a member of Sonny & Cher (and her variety show) can’t have any influence in her indictment as a solo artist.
The qualification to be inducted is a minimum of 25 years has to pass from the first album. And In that time, the artist(s) must have a social and cultural impact, success, and no long periods of inactivity.
While she did technically release her first solo album in 1966, it didn’t take off and was more of a side project. By the 70s, she was relatively gone from the public eye. I’d say she found her way as a solo artist in the late 80s during the “I Found Someone/If I Could Turn Back Time” era.
Cher’s biggest hit is “Believe” which was released in 1998. It’s unusual for an artist who’s been around since the 60s to have their most successful song be 3 decades later. This supports the notion that she started getting serious about her solo career in the late 80s when she signed with Geffen.
Then, there’s always a longer waiting period for artists who are not clear-cut rock n’ roll. For example, the Backstreet Boys achieved fame in the late 90s being the first boy band since NKoTB and started a chain that led to One Direction, 98 Degrees, Nsync. They wouldn’t get in their first year eligible since their not clearly defined rock music. Add 20 years to the 25.
Cher waned toward being bubblegum pop and soft rock. So, if we start the clock at 1987, then 2012 would be 25 years. Add a few years to that for not being clearly defined rock n’ roll. So, her inducement now seems about right.
I wanna make it into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame".. Its lowkey a form of American Literature, that shapes culture, and "informs" people, the world, etc of "the American Way" 🙏🏻🙏🏻

there are a few people that Seacrest mentioned that should've been inducted 30 yrs ago, in my opinion...namely, Ozzy, Dionne Warwick, Peter Frampton and Big Mama. I mean, Big Mama, is actually seen as one of the ROCK PIONEERS who modernized the fusion of gutbucket blues and hard rock. So, I dont know why Gene Simmons was sitting over there looking like he was feeling some sort of way about the inductees mentioned...but if women like Janet Jackson, Donna Summer and Dolly Parton, have been inducted, that just means that Ms Warwick should've gone in BEFORE any of them."Rock and Roll" is simply a rhetorical tag, if you will, for popular music, in modern times. But the origin of rock, was born out of rhythm & blues. R&B came first..and then Alan Fried, used his 'white male privilege' during the 50s and changed the definition of r&b, by calling it rock and roll.

@@johnwoodard1726 I agree with you but the R&RHOF has been inducting artists from all genres for years now. it really isn't a R&R hall of fame but rather a Music HOF. through that approach many great rock and roll artists get left waiting in the queue far longer than they should have to just to satisfy the "quotas" needed to induct artists from non-rock genres.

you'd have to be living under a rock to at least not heard of Dave Matthews Bank. 7 or 8 straight #1 albums on Billboard. and they have toured constantly every year since 1993 until present day. But I get it. If you don't listen to certain genres then you may not know of certain great artists. I do the same. I don't know much about rap.

I saw that Nightwish became eligible for this in 2023 but I highly doubt that they will ever be considered for this award even 50 plus years from now. They are the band that made symphonic metal so popular, especially in Europe but since Nightwish never really got a large fan base in the USA I highly doubt that they will ever be in consideration. I still can't believe that Styx didn't even get any consideration and they were very popular in the 1970s and 1980s. WTF is it with this Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?
