- A fairly basic starter video (filmed in vr sorry for the shaky cam) on how to use the flanker Su-27 J-11 Su-33 a tutorial for existing pilots in DCS. How to load up weapons, get the power and engine start-up, the russian rwr, and datalink and radar. Step by step on the taxi take-off process as well as the radar use in multiplayer server.

@@self1ghter Missiles stopped being developed for specific planes. So no need to pair numbering. Like R60. Also Problem when more then one for specific plane. So MiG-23 had R-23 but next one being R-24. MiG-31 having R-33. Tho several versions were in play during development. IR one and active radar. Next in use on 31 was R-37.

This is awesome man! Thanks for explaining everything you do while flying. It is kind of hard to find video where people don't assume people watching already know all the symbology and why they are doing what they are doing/thinking. I only have a short time on the F-5 getting destroyed on the EWCS server, but really think I should jump in the Su-27 as that flying through the mountains looks like so much fun to me.
do it, its tons of fun.. after that when you get good at symbology go to level 3 -- Mach 2.0 at 30,000 feet!

I think a few people have challenges with
1) Radar
2) hud symbology
3) tracking targets
4) knowing when to launch
any of those you like more or less or think should be higher priority?

@@honnyhodza terrain masking or speed is the only way. Believe it or not but due to design the mig29/su27 radar can be more powerful and sticky than f16..
Also check my channel for Notch Map notch tutorial, you can download the map and try to evade missiles to train yourself.. Give it a go

Anyways just a feedback maybe consider putting timestamp for videos longer than 10minutes.. It really helps in case someone wants to hop in and jump straight to the topic..
And like the other guy said breaking it down to smaller video is more about ensuring regular content is out on regular intervals.. Not necessary especially if you have already a video like this.. And now if you can make shorts thats gonna pull in alot of traffic..

Also in the flanker make sure you adjust your trim up down bind it to a nice control button so when you speed up you don’t need to keep pushing on the stick
@@plazma1945 I fly an rc p-51 and several foamies, I know all about trim. It's crucial to know. Thanks again for the awesome video!!! This has been an incredible learning curve just to get in the air but it's def the best flight sim I've ever played. Just sad my internet is so slow and I have had zero success playing online. Says it needs 10mbps and I'm more like 2. 8500' up in the mountains doesn't do well for internet.

Hi Plazma . I enjoyed this video very much. I thought I could feedback a couple of points that may be useful to you.
ok, the first thing you may not have considered is there's a whole swath of DCS players that have tried to work stuff out on their own. Whilst satisfying to do, the problem with that is one is never sure you actually have it down correctly. Your video really speaks to that audience as you show a practical use case of the technologies in action. I suspect if you also did a video, assuming you haven't already, on the tactics & strategy of flying a fighting in DCS, you would appeal to the new, new beginner as well as the self-taught, new beginner.
Second thing, and this has been alluded to elsewhere in the comments, your spoken voice is so very clear, intelligble bat also purposeful. In other words, you keep someone interested in what is being said while ensuring it is completely understandable.
That kind of speaks, no pun intended, to my third point which is the way you capture your sound while making your videos. The sound level seemed to fluctuate at times during the video. It did not detract from my enjoyment, or more importantly, my ability to take in what was being said. However, what little I know about video production in relation to audience satisfaction is this. People will put up with lesser quality imagery if they can clearly hear what is going on. However, they will not put up so much with very much less than 100% crystal clear audio.
You may wonder why I am taking up so much of my own time to tell you this. I have a YT channel, nothing to do with DCS mind. I know the effort that goes in to producing a video. When I see a good YTer, with good content, such as yourself not getting the simple reward of someone clicking subscribe, will to put not too fine a point on it, it boils my piss!
I think you have a real good formula here: content people want to watch, as in , DCS. You've got great narration. You've got good production value.
I am tired of seeing just big YTers pop up due to the algorithm. Put simply, I want to see more of other good content creators, like you.

Hi David thank you for the excellent feedback points. I have been trying to improve the overall quality and consistency, as best as I could. In this video as in most I actually record off the cuff, no script so its all from my head. And I think I capuredd it while I'm in vr, so as I had a desk mic as I moved my head about the volume shifted around, now I try to do an export of the video and dub over fully rather than during the actual activity. Maybe there is some difference in newer videos, take a peek and please let me know. Appreciate very much this a d any other feedback you send my way! ❤️❤️

Hopefully I can get a response here although I'm a little late to the party, I've been flying the Mig29 Variants a lot recently and I found those always wanted to climb under throttle but only really severe throttle, I just grabbed the 33 and find that its wants to climb perpetually, even at min power it just wants to go to the moon.
Am I doing something wrong? any advice? Ive checked stick calibration, etc all seems fine, mig29 flies fine, F15 flies fine, just this dang 33 wants to go nose up every chance it gets.
you have to trim the plane. it took me a min to learn myself, but you always have to be trimming the control surfaces so that your plane flies straight. as you fly faster, the lift caused by your wings increases, meaning you have to trim the elevator down as you fly faster or vice versa. also when you launch missles, the weight from that missle is now gone, so you will have to trim your ailerons. i hope this helps!

Your engine may be on
If your engines are on in any fc3 plane F15 / a10 Su 33 /27 j 11 Su 25. You will not get weapons, chaff or flares. Only fuel will be added if your engines are on.
If you have f16/18 etc you can add weapons with engines on
When I go into BVR mode I don't have a rectangle in the center of my HUD. Is there a reason for that?
Maybe you didn't have your radar on.
Press "I"

When i want to lock an enemy, it just randomly locks someone, but not the enemy i want to lock. Did i maybe mess something up in the keybinds? What the keybind called?
Enter key will lock. Are you doing in bvr or vertical scan
@@plazma1945 im in vertical scan most of the time because it tends to work better, bvr is basically unuseable
@@thelespauldude3283 if you're using open beta multithreaded bvr is broken with datalink etc in flanker planes. Reccomend not using multithreaded in flankers for now

I think you might've accidentally messed up your commentary's sync with the video, everything seems to be a good few steps behind?

Yeah, that bit's correct.
I noticed it when you were engaging/valley running and talking about the datalink, you're talking about using VS but on screen you aren't using it until much later.
Check around 23 mins, you reference things that aren't happening when you say them, like seeing a missile on the datalink and your target turning hot - but there's no target present.

I watched it because I’ve seen you’re far more skilled than me and thought I might pick up some tips, I hoped you’d have tailored it more to more experienced players looking for knowledge to give them an edge, but you’ve aimed it more at people just hopping into the Flanker for the first time.
I knew most of it already - though the datalink scaling explanation was helpful.

I started DCS a couple of weeks ago and I knew the Russian missiles weren't that good, but I played on the GS server for a few hours and realized how rubbish they are ... I feel like every time if I run into an enemy I have to sit directly on them to get a hit with the missiles. They bleed all there energy so fast even if they fly in a straight line to the enemy...I've got a couple of kills so far, but all of them were surprise attacks ...and the blue sling there SPAMRAAMs from 50 miles and more on me..but in the end it's a delightful feeling when you achieved to kill an F-14/15/16/18
For sure, I did some testing if you're fired on low.. The amraam will loose all its speed in under five miles if you and target who launched on you is below 5000 feet. Go low weave the hills. Shoot me a note on GS if you see me up there!
Hello, I am a new player, and there is a problem that has bothered me for a long time. I press 2 to select the bvr mode, then press I to turn on the radar and select the r27et missile. After the enemy plane enters range, move the TDC to lock the target, but there is no LA launch prompt (even if it is very close to me), but if the enemy plane is flying away from me, there will be a LA launch prompt，what‘s the reason
that is un usual, LA should activate once the missile is in the range
