Elliotte Friedman mentioned the possibility of it stemming from the Flyers' unwillingness to sign him last year because it would have caused a bonus overage for them. Nobody knows until Gauthier comes out with an explanation. Time will tell... or maybe not.

I’ve literally never learned 1 thing by listening to these ‘insider interviews’. The insiders either don’t know much beyond press releases, or they can’t share what they actually know because it would upset their sources. Either way there’s no point in hearing what they have to say.
Seems like Cutter wanted the Flyers to waste a year of his ELC so he'd be closer to his next contract. The Flyers didnt want to waste a year of a cost controlled asset, have his bonuses go into this year, and potentially bring in a kid too early.
Player didnt get what he wanted and freaked out, not even a fan a team in the Eastern conference but if that's all the Flyers "did" its a baaad look for Cutter.

"A family issue" sounds a lot like what rumours say that he's always been a Penguins fan, likely his family too and Pitt and Philly are bitter rivals. Not saying that IS the reason, but it sounds like it, but who knows. If it is, it's a pretty pathetic reason.
Who cares why every player will go where they want any ways. Before drafting a player 1st overall you should talk to him first
They did.he intitially said he wanted to be a flyer as soon as possible.then later said the opposite.whats the point of draft lotto if one side can breach the contract whenever they want?flyers are owned easy win lawsuit here if they want.the owners are class so i doubt they pursue.ethics are a rarity these days.
