Endorphin Pro 4 seems promising. Just bought a pair of Endorphin Pro 3 a couple of weeks ago and it is the most comfortable long distance shoe I've worn. I just love it. My plantar fasciitis can also tolerate the plate. In fact I can barely feel there is a plate in it. I'm currently preparing for my first half marathon coming up on the 10th of March and will run in the Pro 3. Great review Edd, as always!
I am very intrigued to know what the new Endorphin Elite will be like. Version 1 was excellent, for me perhaps the best super shoe of the moment. I enjoyed the Endorphin Pro 3 but the one that always made me smile was the Elite.
Think that we are in for a long wait (another year) for the Elite 2 aren't we, or is there a slight upper change coming this year, or just new colourways? I grabbed a 2nd pair of Elites in White for under £172 recently. Will be wearing my 💚💚 ones for my 3rd and maybe last Marathon at Paris before probably using them as a shorter distance race shoe and wearing the White ones for any autumn/winter Marathon + Boston 2025.
First i love your reviews. I think there is a parameter missing reviewing running shoes and especially racing shoes. Durability. Adidas and saucony fx is miles ahead of nike Just a thought
I ran my first race in my Pro4.s today (Snake Lane 10) , it was very wet n muddy on the roads and they gripped very well, comfy , stable , and felt very quick when at tempo. Few nice comments from other runners .
Would you compare them to the Endorphin Elite? What's the difference? The Elite may be available at a better price than £230 and being a "Saucony guy" (though I also test other brands), I'm curios to know which model is the fastest. Thanks!
V ry positive video Edd. I’m travelling to America in October and made contact with a saucony retailer who have the speed & pro 4’s in stock both naturally £50 cheaper than the prices here in the uk. So my dilemma is which one do I go for, I am kind of leaning to the pro 4’s although apart from the London marathon 2025 the most I would probably run post the marathon would be half marathons, so I guess my question is what are the pro 4’a like at the 10k distance
Never got on with the Pro 3 or really the Speed 3. Both shoes were just blah for me, especially the EP3 for racing. Probably will skip both 4s. Guess I'm the outlier.
I agree 👍 and I have purchases 3 pairs of the Pro 3 as a training shoe but only worn for 1 x Marathon (too soft in the heel for someone looking to run a low 3+ hour paced Marathon in my opinion). I expect that the Pro 4 would be too, although they have offset this a little with changes to the rocker plus adding a little HG foam. The Elite is Saucony's number one race shoe and will work best for most of a certain pace who are looking to hit certain times I would think.
Great review as always Edd 👍 I know you’ll do a proper comparison video in time, but curious your initial thoughts compared to the Elite? For me the Elite is that much better than the Endo Pro3 (and I do really like the 3), but curious if the chips are down are you reaching for the Elite or the EP4 for a half or full? Thanks! 🙏
Did my first marathon in the 3. It brought me all the way to the finish line. Thank God. Love the 4 and looking forward to getting them on my feet. The suede is ultra-suede, a synthetic. In the exotic car world they call it Alcantara. You don't have to worry about getting it wet.
Blimey, only about 3 minutes in and I can see a major change in the outsole; the Endorphin range has massively won me over to Saucony but I'm bot gonna' lie - when the liquid sunshine is flowing, neither the Speed 2/3 nor the Pro 3 would be (or would have been) my choice. This looks promising...
Superb review as always. I’ve had two pairs of the Pro 3 and can’t wait to try them. I hope they didn’t change the shape of the plate in the pro 4 like they with the Speed 3 vs Speed 2. The speed 3 plate gave me crippling PF pain for anything over half distance so I had to stop wearing them. Saucony told me the shape of the carbon plate in the pro 3 was the same as the TPU plate in the speed 2 (which is why I love them….) Do you know if Saucony have changed the plate in the Pro 4 vs Pro 3? I know they made an update to the TPU plate in the Speed 4…which I’m about to try (switching back to Saucony from the NB Fuelcell SC V2.) Would appreciate your thoughts.
Great review as usual Edd, Heads up, Sportpersuit have Alphafly 1 from £91.99, limited sizes, I have never bought anything from them, but they seem to have good reviews ?
I´m actually looking if i buy another pair of Vaporfly 3s or try the Pro 4. I tried the Pro 3 back then and i feelt them to be too narrow for my feet. I sent them back. In comparison, are the Pro 4 wider (less pressure from the upper on the fore foot) on then the 3s? Actually i`m happy with the Speed 4s, but the Speed 3s where wider then the Pro 3s back then, so no good comparison i guess.
Why I’d don’t buy Nike shoes anymore there build quality is cheaply done with sketchy materials even there accessories are poorly made had a run belt and the shorts wore then once and got muddy so I washed them left then to dry went back 3 days later to wear them and the ruddy zip pull thing had turned green and rusted wtf max profits for there advertising and sponsorships
I'll try this one for sure. The Pro 3 was an excellent marathon shoe for me. For HM pace though, I felt it took a little more effort for leg turnover on the push off due to the softness of the midsole.
@@EDDBUDAfter my initial run in them, I wasn't too impressed with them. They do feel a little different in the forefoot. It doesn't feel as cushioned in the forefoot as the Pro 3 or as propulsive. I didn't care for the Endorphin Elite and the Pro 4 has a layer of HG in it. The upper on the Pro 3 wraps around the foot much better and feels more secure. I tested the shoe at 6:50 to 8:30 pace. I'll most likely return them.
Nice review Edd. Do you think a running race shoe like this would be at all suitable for long, fast paced walking and as a trainer for just going to the gym to weigh train or does it have an odd feel if the usage isn't specificaly for running?

Still running in the 1's Edd after 2 years. Great shoe for my long runs and speedwork. Going to update to the 3's soon as haven't got on with the recent vaporfly 3's. Toe rubbing and too much of a drop in the Vaporfly.
Can't wait to own a pair of Superblast. Hope it gets discounted at some point when version 2 gets released. I also hope Asics will do the shoe in some better colour ways.
Mile repeats? Those are the workouts that you need to be doing more regularly. Not all the time of course.Your times will definitely drop combined with the E-Pro 4 and the Puma Fast R elite. But that E -pro looks huge as you hold it.
How it compares with the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 2? I love Nitro Elite, but I think it could have a bit more midsole to help with 30k over distances. Would the Pro 4s offer protection and softness in the regard, being a better Marathon shoe?
How does it compare to the Hoka Cielo X1? I need a good shoe that feels fast and comfortable for both races (10miles, half an full marathon) but that I can use for my long run training as well once my Superblasts wear out
That's what I had heard from initial reviews but now hearing different in this review and others. I think someone suggested that it would be a good race shoe for those looking to run 3:30 to 4+ hour Marathons. A lot of money for a shoe like that unless you are running that kind of pace range. I am more interested in the shoe as a possible trainer if it reduces in price a year or more down the line but can't ever see me considering racing in it ever.
@@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics I’m closer to around the 3hr mark for the marathon depending on fitness and I can definitely feel less propulsion in the 4’s. They are creating more of a gap now between the elite/pro/speed as past versions where closer in performance.
@@tono1665 Yeah if you are low 3 or Sub 3 hours for a Marathon then the Elite is definitely the Saucony shoe of choice to race in for most people I would think.
A bit of a random comment triggered by your musical interlude. I find myself chuckling at the interview you did with the hard case Aussie Puma Athlete you interviewed after he had run across Australia. It was priceless when you asked him about his musical preference as he wrecked his body over and over suffering unspeakable pain and body disfiguration - no doubt you thought it would be AC DC Highway to Hell or Midnight Oil - The Beds Are Burning. Your reaction was priceless when he said Country and Western 🤣 For me the funniest moment on your channel!
Awesome review Edd. 👍 The colourway is lovely but I was as perplexed as you were, when you highlighted that orange stripe and faced it towards us. 😅 Really positive that implementation of the dual foam and increasing firmness for responsiveness and stability. 🥳😎 It's becoming so complicated to select a super shoe of late. 😵💫
It sounds great, I'm still using Adidas pro 2s for my races but thinking will need to replace them before long more. Had Adidas Pro 3s in mind as next. How do they compare? You mentioned better lockdown in the Sauconys
Generally I'm not a fan of lace loops but if it achieves a good lockdown and doesn't fall apart then I'm ok with it. Looks like an excellent update and I do welcome a slightly more roomier toe box too. And aesthetically I do love the suede elements and the improved outsole. Saucony might have yet another winner. I am really looking forward to the Endorphin Elite update whenever it drops.
Just turned forty and just got up to marathon distance after many months of training, thank you for all the awesome content throughout the journey, definitely buying some marathon shoes soon, any thoughts on best for high arches? Much luv from Minnesota
How would you compare to the Elite? Which out of the two would you race in and what current race shoes do you think that you would wear for each of the 5k, 10k, Half and Full Marathon race distances currently if you were looking to push for a time?
@@EDDBUD Yeah I guess you can't compare the Pro 4 as a race day shoe until you have tried to run a particular distance in it. Will be interesting to see your thoughts after running a 10k (and perhaps a Half) in it 👍 Know that you currently probably favour the Takumi Sen for shorter distances.
Dumb question, and if it's so stupid, please disregard: what is "Marathon Pace"? I, as a guy who has never run more than a half marathon, have like four speeds: really slow, not so slow, threshold, fast, and pain. The last two of which are kind of merging. Is "Marathon" faster of slower than Threshold or is not germain to runners like me?
The build quality may be average from Nike but everyone that has reviewed the AF3 has given it the big thumbs up in terms of being the best race day shoe going; function over fashion.
Picked up the Brooks Hyperion Max after your yearly roundup and they're absolutely incredible. I've also ended up picking up a pair of Saucony Endorphin Speed 4's so that I have a couple of pairs of running trainers and I'm excited for them to turn up. Appreciate your reviews 🤘🏾
The jury is out on value, I agree attention to build quality is better than some, however at this price point we should not be having to comment on that. The toe / forefoot will probably wear out at 120+ miles, 3 pairs of pro 3 tell me this, I am very worried about hatched sole rubber, it tears easily, especially on trails. Due to the rocker design in the Endorphin line I find that all of them Speed / Pro wear out 2/3's quicker than other shoe Brands I use. I run 50-60 miles a week, FWIW IMO
I'm sticking with Endorphin Pro 2, second pair. 1st pair has 857.6 miles. Only 237 miles into my 2nd pair, several other EB recommended shoes in rotation, and I'm not running anyway until I recover from back/hip injuries mostly due to car crash 🤷♂️ . Love your vids Edd! 👍
This is a nay from me. Nothing about the Pro 4 excites me so just gonna put the money towards the Alphafly 3 when some decent colourways come out. You heard anything about the Adidas pro 4 Edd? The v3 is amazing so interested to get a look at the v4
@@TheValonquarI'm interested in possible trainer only use a year+ down the line if it can be picked up for a bargain price. Can't see the Pro 4 being anywhere near as good as the Elite is for a race day shoe for me and I am well stocked on them to not need another race shoe until at least summer/autumn 2025.
Are you sure your AF3s are legitimate? I've never seen a Nike shoe that was low on build quality. Perhaps it depends on which factory makes them and which region they are shipped to. All my Nike orders are shipped from the Netherlands to South Africa. Never had an issue.
A friend of mine was able to purchase AF3's for his wife and himself in the initial launch direct from Nike. His wife's pair had a major production flaw and he had to return it. It may well have to do with inconsistent quality control among factories but it’s an issue nevertheless.
@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 it certainly sounds like a quality-control issue. But, let's make the distinction, we are talking about the aesthetic quality here, not actual material or shoe itself. But the paint, glue, etc. Right?
Some Nike shoes I have had and their issues. Missing eyelets Broken air pods Two left shoes. Bunched toebox Two different lace lengths Rubber fell off after 2 runs
I did. Maybe you didn’t watch the video? I talk about the midsole cutout, I talk about the odd suede final eyelets. I talk about the price. I talked about the less than wide toebox. I didn’t give it a perfect score. Maybe watch the video before you comment!

Enjoy 👍🏼👊
Thanks for the initial review! Is the fit TTS? Endorphin 3 pro was perfect for me in US size 10, but Triumph 20 in the same size was too tight.
True so size on this one
much better than the endorphin 3 pro , i didnt get on with the 3s . these are a class act
👍🏼
Hey my bra 😀thanx for your review and just purchases a pair ❤️
I’m tempted for the speed but always hang on for the runshield version because of this crappy UK weather…
Darn right. Today we had serious rain, then a massive turnaround and 15c temps. Needed the shades. 🤣😎
Certainly I've seen the swoosh there, First time I've put my eyes on them, and it gets more evident with the colours:)
You and me both!
How does it compare to the Hoka Cielo X1? I need a good shoe that feels fast and comfortable for both races (10miles, half an full marathon) but that I can use for my long run training as well once my Superblasts wear out
Quite a bit more nimble but nowhere near the width and I feel that Hoka is a bit too richly priced.
It’s definitely toned down since endo pro 3. Nowhere near as much propulsion.
He was a legend. Love that guy. He was in a different place to anyone I have ever met. He has seen stuff we will perhaps never see
Awesome review Edd. 👍
The colourway is lovely but I was as perplexed as you were, when you highlighted that orange stripe and faced it towards us. 😅
Really positive that implementation of the dual foam and increasing firmness for responsiveness and stability. 🥳😎
It's becoming so complicated to select a super shoe of late. 😵💫
Many of the top shoes are now more down to upper fit for the user than much difference in the midsoles
Morning Edd.
🥈
It sounds great, I'm still using Adidas pro 2s for my races but thinking will need to replace them before long more. Had Adidas Pro 3s in mind as next. How do they compare? You mentioned better lockdown in the Sauconys
I always had issues with the lacing on the Adios pro 3. Just couldn’t dial it in consistently.
Do yourself a favor and get EP3/4 instead AP3
Getting sent fancy new pumps, gratis, is the dream isn't it
Generally I'm not a fan of lace loops but if it achieves a good lockdown and doesn't fall apart then I'm ok with it. Looks like an excellent update and I do welcome a slightly more roomier toe box too. And aesthetically I do love the suede elements and the improved outsole. Saucony might have yet another winner. I am really looking forward to the Endorphin Elite update whenever it drops.
Ed, would you give us a quick vid of your personal run gear, sunglasses, hats, belts, gels and socks ?
Coming soon 👍🏼
Maybe a comparison between the Pro 4 and the Endorphine Elite?
Will do the endorphin lineup as is very soon
Just turned forty and just got up to marathon distance after many months of training, thank you for all the awesome content throughout the journey, definitely buying some marathon shoes soon, any thoughts on best for high arches? Much luv from Minnesota
Most of the higher end race shoes are narrower in the arch which might be ideal. The pro 4 has that though the alphafly 2/3 is almost too much there.
Do you by chance remember the durometer score on the pro 3 outsole for comparison?
I shall try and remember to measure it tomorrow for you 👍🏼
TTS? ❤
Yes I would go tts.
Thorogood! Great guitar playing!!! Born to be bad my fav!
His late 70’s live shows rip it up!
They were „Bad to the Bone“ 🤘🏼🎸 that intro makes you want to run fast!
Man why can't Nike finally start making these simple color combinations for their supershoe? Latest Alphafly's all look like random 🎉 colors.
But the AF3 launch colorway is basically the same 3 colors as this one….
Yeah I like the proto looks. Took it out today for 15 miles and it looks even better now!
@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 It's not a normal release version. Look up what they're releasing next month. Like a unicorn barfed up all over it.
How would you compare to the Elite? Which out of the two would you race in and what current race shoes do you think that you would wear for each of the 5k, 10k, Half and Full Marathon race distances currently if you were looking to push for a time?
Will race in the pro 4 next weekend in Weymouth bay 10k
@@EDDBUD Yeah I guess you can't compare the Pro 4 as a race day shoe until you have tried to run a particular distance in it. Will be interesting to see your thoughts after running a 10k (and perhaps a Half) in it 👍 Know that you currently probably favour the Takumi Sen for shorter distances.
@@MarkSmith_Best-Athletics The initial part of that weymouth race is a couple of laps on grass which discounts the adidas!
Thanks Edd.
You are very welcome
Edd do you it be good for a stability runner
I would avoid for someone after specific stability. It’s still super soft and squashy in the heel.
@@EDDBUD thanks wasn't sure, was told the Tempus would suit my John Wayne legs
Hoka ceilo x1 or this one?
Very different shoes. The pro 4 is a versatile racer. The Cielo x1 feels like a continuation of the primex series to me
Yay!
Puma king- classic
Legendary boot!
It can be whatever it is for the person in particular. For me about 7:20/30 per mile.
on a side note, the lighting in your studio seems a bit dim on my screen.
It’s the shoe brightness and the camera sensor. Can’t have it all
Wide version?
Not as far as I’m aware. Why no brands do this is beyond me
@@EDDBUD I've got wide feet and it's frustrating
The build quality may be average from Nike but everyone that has reviewed the AF3 has given it the big thumbs up in terms of being the best race day shoe going; function over fashion.
I shall run in that later on. For 2 hours 35 seconds. For obvious reasons. 😔
I didn’t. Be about the last racing shoe I own that I take to a race.
@@TimGrose I shall give it a good go later on though it will be more like marathon pace for 2 hours. 🤣👍🏼
@@EDDBUDfair play. I struggled to hit MP at all. TBF am not marathon training at present but even so…
@@TimGrose I find MP hard to judge. I’ve ran 1:31 half’s but could sustain what many suggest as would be my marathon pace for twice that distance!
That background music (noise...) is driving me crazy, Please don't use it again Edd.... It is very very distracting.
I have used the music in 1000’s of videos before. Infact it’s even lower by 1db today
Must be because I now listened with quality headphones on then.
Or.... I missed a shitton of gardening videos. :)
🤣👍🏼
Saucony for ever!!!!. Like to EDDBUD. A nice weekend for everyone.
Same to you!
Glad the max is hitting the spot. It’s just soft enough and a very usable model
Why would you wear this on trails?
I have the alphafly 3. Will test it out later. On foot the end pro 4 feels more natural.
@@EDDBUD Hows the pro 4 stiffness? Is it suitable for training?
EP3 > AP3, i have both shoes
@@EDDBUD Looking forward to the review 👍🏻
Missing eyelets
Broken air pods
Two left shoes.
Bunched toebox
Two different lace lengths
Rubber fell off after 2 runs
@EDDBUD Wow. Thats crazy.
@@TheSiameseDreamer that’s just the running shoes!
Its a bit problematic when you dont mention not even one dislike.. It makes the reviews not so trusted...
There is no shoe that is perfect
I did. Maybe you didn’t watch the video? I talk about the midsole cutout, I talk about the odd suede final eyelets. I talk about the price. I talked about the less than wide toebox. I didn’t give it a perfect score. Maybe watch the video before you comment!
@@EDDBUD I watch it all (except for the music part since its not my thing). midsole 3/3.. come on.. And also dislike about the answer.. You need to learn to get reviews to your reviews...
@@4541047 I shall give the midsole whatever score I wish thanks. It’s about opinion. But your comment that there was no downsides mentioned was incorrect
