I believe the correct name for this mineral is "red corundum." It becomes "ruby" once the material is transparent enough to be classified as "gem grade" rough. But it still turned out very pretty. Great work😊
Holy crow people. The video isn’t titled “the most perfect and clear ruby that ever rubied” geez. This is, in fact, a ruby. It is opaque, not translucent. Not as precious as transparent and deeply pigmented ones, but pretty damned breath taking all the same. That ruby is lovely, and he really cut it to show that. Good job, jeweller dude! The Kohinoor was twice the size it is now, unsymmetrical, and not at all clear and shiney before the English effectively stole it and had the Dutch cut it. I much prefer this more respectful treatment rather than our westernised interpretation of beauty/perfection.

I have raw rubies to tumble dont know anyone who cuts them around here in fl. I have people in philadelphia which i can trust to cut them after. Im done polishing them i guess thats the procedure. I have instructions.

You are perfectly right about this stone. It is NOT A RUBY, because I have a ruby, and this stone never comes near it's brilliance!
We cut these qualities stones in cabochon as well but star not come in these rubies
