Thank you. My nurses are trying to teach me, and they're doing it right. Having a second look, though, helps me feel reassured.
ok cool Im switching over to injections after 10 years of pills my doc did not really explain everything this makes me feel better lol ty
hi i have a question! im a young trans woman whos just starting on transitioning and im wondering if you can immediately just use injections rather than pills
@@sourpeaches6679 You can as long as you have a doctor but yes you do not have to be on the pills to stat injections if that is your question
ok thank you so much! :))
@@sourpeaches6679 if you really do your homework you can DIY injections. Not everyone has access to LGBT friendly doctors or healthcare.
Hi everyone! (Trans) Nurse here! No need to aspirate for either Subcutaneous or Intramuscular injections! People use to think you have to, but studies show it is not necessary or safer if you asperate, it's not really possible to hit a vein that would cause damage. Definitely do NOT inject directly into the vein, but it's ok if a little blood comes our after your shot.
How many injection needed?step 1 and 2?
Thank you 👍🏽
but I'm so scared of injecting into a vein i cant see :((( how can this be avoided without aspiration before every shot?
@@chumbucket6989 When i was having the same concern, i found it easier to learn self injections on subcutaneous areas like the butt cheek. Once you get a good understanding of the way the anatomy is put together, you can very reliably put the needle in a place where there are no veins (muscle and fat injections alike). (talk to your doctor to make sure, but hormone injections in particular can go subcutaneous or intra-muscular if needed)
@@chumbucket6989 if you do choose to inject into subcutaneous fat, look up information on how to preform subcutaneous injections specifically, because it's a little different than intramuscular.
Thank you for this video, I watched it again for my second injection to make sure and I can’t wait to see how everything turns out
Omg it's gonna be great. I was stuck in pills for like 6 months, I switched to injections and it's amazing
@@xXdarkdekuXx I’ve been on this stuff for about 40ish days now and the effects are so crazy i’m excited for what else is in store
@@Eight-Track it's been going even better for me :0 I'm loving this
@@xXdarkdekuXx That’s great to hear! September 1st was my 3 month mark and it’s incredible how far i’ve come
how're you now
Switching from pills to injections, thank y'all so much.
Can I ask how you all overcame your anxiety when giving yourselves the shot? My wife is just beginning her journey and would like to do shots instead of the pill. But she hyperventilates and panics when she tries to do the shot. Any advice?
I am the same way. It helps me when someone (you in this case) is next to me while I do it. Let her take her time and be patient. Make sure she’s taking deep breaths before, during and after. You can also reassure her that the fear is only her body reacting because it thinks sharp = bad, which in this case it’s actually good. Tell her to think of the outcome and how great she’s going to feel once it’s over. I hope this helps
I started when I was still living at home with my parents and had my mom (a medical assistant) do my injections until she forgot one morning, then switched to doing it myself
have her tell herself it will just feel like a scratch. a scratch is easy.
I couldn't do it because nurses told me 'it needs to be thrown in like a dart to make it pain-free'. That was complete bs! The throw is more risky regarding nerve damage (can pierce up a nerve like a spear in worst case, which is almost impossible when going slow) and harder to perform emotionally as it feels so brutal. This practice is used often for SUB-Q shots but definitely not suited for IM.
I was able to overcome by getting comfy on my bed first (for laying glute shot), breathing deeply and then inserting the needle in super-slow-motion. I like to take a ridiculously long amount of time to do it, sometimes 1-2 minutes of just going in because I'm so sensitive. When I'm lucky it goes in in seconds but I don't expect it as it usually doesn't. But hey, it works and after the first shot the mental barrier is broken! 🤷🏻♂️
@@h.tantamoq8743i do it slow i dont care it hurts more lol
omg thank you so much 😭 just did my first shot 😁👍🏼
Thank you I did my first 💉 today I'm super y 👍🏽🇵🇷👍🏽
Thank you for this helps alot.
Thank you for this video...
i love this video but i wish they mentioned aspiration and how important it is before injection
only important for intravenous, where theres a risk of an air bubble travelling thru the veins and causing an embolism. bubbles dont rlly matter if theyre just kinda in muscle or fatty tissue
Could you introduce a doctor who can prescribe injectable hormone? Thanks,
idk where you're located at but I would see if you there are any queer clinics in your area. If you're in metro-Detroit, I'd recommended the Be Well Medical Center. If you're in Ohio I'd look into Equitas (i think that's how it's spelled)
Can I use my tummy area for injections? Friends have told me I csn
if you're doing subcutaneous injections, yes. you target different injection zones for intramuscular.
No if ur a trans woman its Im only not subq
Subq is for testosterone
Thank you 😊
Question, are we not supposed to aspirate first?.
Just inject in 90°angle? Even no aspiration, is that OK?? Please help I'm going to estrogen shot.. I'm trans..
Yes baby aspirate.... I always aspirate
Mmm I dont know I never aspirated for blood and I'm fine, also I'm trans to, but just not that developed jsjs
I'm trans and have been doing hrt for 3.5 years -- always aspirate for IM injections. the chances of blood being drawn up in the syringe when you do so is Very rare (it's never happened to me before), but better to be safe than sorry. if you're doing a SQ injection, you don't need to aspirate
@@garfieluvr69 ohh but how's that what kind of dangers are?
@@garfieluvr69 👍🏼 thank you 💜
Thank you
if some of medications seeps out of the injection site can i just rub it back into my skin since it’s an oil?
Thats normal some comes out but its so little it doesnt matter just put on a bandaid
you dont do aspirate ??
They have another video on how to draw up the syringe: ua-cam.com/video/ApWiQH4rzlA/v-deo.html
@@ninastoller2558 the above person meant for prior to injecting the medicine. Which yes you do aspirate to make sure you're not in a vein.
Yes you do aspirate!!
No lol
@@wildthing1631no u dont that is misinformation
Um you definitely have to draw back on the syringe to see if you hit blood.
No u dont lol 😂
Thats outdated af
Been injecting for two years never aspirated
Never recap a needle!!! You also forgot aspirate to check that you are not in a blood vessel before you inject.
Always recap a needle! They're not saying to reuse it, but even when disposing of it, it should be recapped so it doesn't poke someone else!
You learn in medical training not to recap a needle to avoid puncturing your own skin with a needle that was used for someone else.
If you are the person who is receiving the injection and recapping the needle - and you were to accidentally poke your hand - it would be okay.
If you don’t have a prescribed sharps container it’s probably safest to recap the needle/ have whoever was injected recap the needle before discarding.
It's a myth that you need to change shot locations. Been on T for over 11 years and always do my shot in the same place and nothing has happened because of it.
Try doing more frequent injections lol. Also people respond differently I've seen people have messed up injection sites from using the same spot too frequently. It definitely keeps scar tissues from forming by rotating sites.
It’s mostly for comfort tho.
i did this for the first 6 months and my left side feet and hands, esp the finger grew a few inches longer than my right lol and basically, the changes happened faster on the left.. muscle hardening, hair
Hi everyone! Nurse here. So it's always recommended to circulate injection locations. This is mostly to avoid build up of a lot scar tissue in one area.
@@em-bi4278 it doesn’t work that way. I think you may be a bit confused about how injections work in your body. If only one side of your body is growing, I’d seriously see a doctor because when the medication is in, it’s absorbed into the blood stream which flows throughout the ENTIRE body, not just one side
