Here 16 yrs later showing this to my 8 yr old who just started playing drums. He said it’s like the drummer is giving the power to the band This is still great!
Great drumming goes without saying; what I love about this performance is Hamilton's vocals - he's singing like his life depends on it - cranked-up to 11!
(back in time, 5 years ago) When i used to go out, I heard this song everywhere id go Now i hear this alone, if i hearrrrr it at all anyone agree??? lol, good times bak then tho
This is one of the best things I have ever seen in my life. This performance of this song plus the perfect camera cuts. Just incredibly nuts. I smile from ear to ear whenever I watch this.
Steve Domenico for about ten seconds, they were. Check out Hamilton's solo stuff, it's great, IMO better than the last couple Walkmen albums, not that I disliked those at all.
I remember the first time I heard this song come on TV back in like 04' or whatever, and I filmed it on my VCR and got all my friends to come over during school hours and we watched it. Good memories, great song!
Don't let the scene die man! i still listen to this kind of music everyday. The strokes...Interpol...white stripes... There is also a bunch of bands that still do this but more so underground... The right Vendors will have them!
i dunno bro, this music will never die, but the "scene" is long dead forsure, maybe a resurgence (just as this was a resurgence of 70s/80s punk) one day in the future but for now its sleeping...my fav band is interpol still
The 'vocal passion' your talking about is his stage personality. I'd much rather have him belting out the songs in that scream of his than prancing about like some ACDC reject. See them live...best gig I've ever been to was The Walkmen in Glasgow last year.
Awesome performance! I'd love to see them live. The only thing is the frontman, Hamilton, needs a bit more of on stage personality, but he has the "vocal passion" to make you pass it up. Actually, watching this performance was pretty much like watching the video for the song! hehehe
I agree about the sound quality. Live performances often sound bad on tv in my experience. The only real exceptions I can think of straight away are LCD Soundsystem on Jools Holland and Lykke Li's 'Breaking it Up' live performance on her myspace.
Heard the song from 'Zombie invasion on mulberry street' when the woman bits the guy's tongue out in the toilet. Decent song. Drumming of the klaxons and I always get an interpol feel to them/Joy division.
@canalysis1 Hahaha yes!! I'm glad you caught that because as i reread it right now, i just remembered that as well. At least i know you were a big fan as well. People tend to forget that as i just did as well. But they did move out to N.Y. when they got big, and they were actually apart of the big three N.Y. bands (Strokes, Interpol, & Walkmen).
@Hoobtastic Please don't ever compare The Walkmen with The Strokes, they are both my favorite bands number 1 and 2 respectively but they have nothing in common other than they both came from N.Y.
I am guessing we are around the same age group....I feel like music has changed to the point computers unfortunately are taking over.. My two friends have two different bands named Cherry tree and Young Rapids if you would like check them out. They sound a bit like this and hopefully could be part of the "savior" of this decade/genre. You also still have bands such as The Black Lips, King kahn & BBQ show, Deerhunter..etc still holding it down!
heard kings of leon are touring with these guys. i kinda like them. this is the first time i've heard them, they remind me of the killers a little bit.
I know, its maybe sounds crazy, but i really want to find my soulmate, and i think she like this such as i am,sorry for my bad English, but if you're like this video, song and artist, maybe you should write to me?
What because he has a New-York accent and they are a band? They don't sound all that similar really. They have a different style altogether (a much beter one in my opinion).
@coleodin but not the best lyric ever, that's: My love life was getting so bland, There are only so many ways I can make love with my hand - Blink 182 (M&M's) :D
You replied to the wrong person, but I disagree. The Killers...meh. Don't care much for them. The Walkmen and The Strokes are AMAZING and are not beneath KOL. I don't really like KOL's new stuff to be quite honest.....I loved Aha Shake Heartbreak. I wish they did more stuff like that. The fact that The Walkmen opened up for Kings of Leon has nothing to do with their "quality"...whatever that means...To say that you didn't like them is another thing.
wait, wait, wait, I know for a fact that I saw a walkmen show and bought a walkmen album, far before anybody even heard about the killers. F(&^*K I pissed beside the killers guitarist at the mod club in Toronto, even at that time the walkmen were more established than them. Its not all about numbers but substance. the walkmen all the way i like the killers but they steal to much shit!
Because he writes (sometimes) catchy pop songs, nothing more than that. Leave the genius tag to someone who deserves it (Bowie, Lennon, Wilson, Hendrix, Davis, Dylan). This is not a comparison to the Walkmen, never was. But I think you need to realize that the term genius has NOTHING to do with ones popularity.
This is one of the best drum charged songs I have heard in a long time, but this live performance is poor. The tempo is choppy. The sound engineers got it all wrong and the guitarist is struggling to stay afloat. They didnt do themselves any favors here... oh did I say that this song is otherwise amazing.
Best drumming on any Indie song ever and this song is still the greatest Indie song ever in 2022
Here 16 yrs later showing this to my 8 yr old who just started playing drums. He said it’s like the drummer is giving the power to the band
This is still great!
Great drumming goes without saying; what I love about this performance is Hamilton's vocals - he's singing like his life depends on it - cranked-up to 11!
Ya the anger and desperation of the drums and vocals are wild.
I revisit this video often and an blown away every time. One of the most riveting lives performances I have ever seen.
Man 2021. And I’m still coming back
Couldnt agree more. I do exactly the same. It is almost mesmerising.
(back in time, 5 years ago)
When i used to go out, I heard this song everywhere id go
Now i hear this alone, if i hearrrrr it at all
anyone agree???
lol, good times bak then tho
I love how the guitarrist smiles at a point because the singer is so extreme to reach his tones.
This is one of the best things I have ever seen in my life. This performance of this song plus the perfect camera cuts. Just incredibly nuts. I smile from ear to ear whenever I watch this.
I bet right after this song became a popular single the drummer realized he was going to be sore for the rest of his life
He is.. should take it easy on drummin though😬🤑😂
They should have been huge.
Steve Domenico for about ten seconds, they were. Check out Hamilton's solo stuff, it's great, IMO better than the last couple Walkmen albums, not that I disliked those at all.
Jonathan fire eater too
RCQC I wasn't as big of a fan of JF*E, plus the singer, Stewart Lupton, is a total asshole.
they should have
no no its was totally fine, the walkmen is the walkmen because they never went huge
I remember the first time I heard this song come on TV back in like 04' or whatever, and I filmed it on my VCR and got all my friends to come over during school hours and we watched it. Good memories, great song!
The power exerted in this song is beyond the words I have to offer....................
Man..
this song. it has a powerful response in me..emotional..don't know why..but man..this sh*t smokes! Amazing song
Its like a musical frenzy but the band jus stand and deliver, great stuff.
Still here in 2024!!
holy jesus that guy on the guitar
This song is what it is, purely for the drummer. Absolutely unbelievable
miss the walkmen
This drummer vs Matt Tong (ex-Bloc Party) vs Bryan Devendorf (The National) vs Stephen Morris (New Order). What a battle that would be...
this band used to take me through the worst years of my life. thank you. - Aidil ,Singapore.
South east asian too here man... Amazing band

great god
great drummer!!
great band.
Don't let the scene die man! i still listen to this kind of music everyday. The strokes...Interpol...white stripes... There is also a bunch of bands that still do this but more so underground... The right Vendors will have them!
this song is on the edge! its amazing
i dunno bro, this music will never die, but the "scene" is long dead forsure, maybe a resurgence (just as this was a resurgence of 70s/80s punk) one day in the future but for now its sleeping...my fav band is interpol still
best live performance ever.

"When i used to go out, i'd know everyone i saw... now i go out alone, if i go out at all..."
great fucking lyric...
gotta dig the giant chunk out of the cymbal. The drummer's an absolute beast and going on Letterman with a broken cymbal just solidifies that fact.
bloody hell. amazing
best song ever made
play this song off the album as loud as possible once a week
fuckin world class
Legendary!!!
I like the bass players moves!
that snare drum sounds gash.
i love this song though, and Hanilton sings it really reall well live considering how powerful the vocals are.
Awesome performance! I'd love to see them live. The only thing is the frontman, Hamilton, needs a bit more of on stage personality, but he has the "vocal passion" to make you pass it up. Actually, watching this performance was pretty much like watching the video for the song! hehehe

they friggin rock!!!!!
I would just like to see these guys get a little more feeling and energy into the song and performance.
Yeah they dialled it in man :-)
Heard the song from 'Zombie invasion on mulberry street' when the woman bits the guy's tongue out in the toilet.
Decent song. Drumming of the klaxons and I always get an interpol feel to them/Joy division.
so good
awesome drummer
oh wow
great vocals
Ye gotta see them! Trust me!
This and the Arctic Monkeys' drummer are really BADASS drummers!
Agreed.
brilliant.
@canalysis1 Hahaha yes!! I'm glad you caught that because as i reread it right now, i just remembered that as well. At least i know you were a big fan as well. And they both have bloody great music
@TheBlackWelshman I agree but this is from "Bows And Arrows" fyi
Nick Swardson - best lead singer ever! :P
classic
cool version of that song
Sack the video editor, This track is ALL about the drummer,
this track is about all of em
well said
Stellar performance but the sound engineers should be shot! No bass.
I love The Walkmen AND The Strokes.
....they definitely do not sound like The Killers...lol The Killers....
I am guessing we are around the same age group....I feel like music has changed to the point computers unfortunately are taking over.. My two friends have two different bands named Cherry tree and Young Rapids if you would like check them out. They sound a bit like this and hopefully could be part of the "savior" of this decade/genre. it looks like his vein is about to pop out of his...great song and great performance
heard kings of leon are touring with these guys. i kinda like them. this is the first time i've heard them, they remind me of the killers a little bit.
Lead singer must be a big Afghan Whigs fan.
the audio on this video is cruddy as hell, but awesome performance nonetheless
Yeah, as far as sucking goes, the Strokes have it down, the Walkmen can't compare!
Ever heard of The Afghan Whigs..?
2004
the drums should be louder :)
sounds like Josh Peck.
Love it.
focus should have been on the drummer the entire time...crazy stuff.
lucky the singer wore a nice watch on Letterman hey!
просто разъебали там всё. обожаю
The strokes vibes
@eric02125 they opened for KOL? should be the other way around, no justice in this world
what year was this out anyone?
I know, its maybe sounds crazy, but i really want to find my soulmate, and i think she like this such as i am,sorry for my bad English, but if you're like this video, song and artist, maybe you should write to me?
Very Stroke-tastick
they sound a lot like the strokes

What because he has a New-York accent and they are a band? They don't sound all that similar really. They have a different style altogether (a much beter one in my opinion).
the killers??? well I must be deaf or something cause I dont get it
@coleodin but not the best lyric ever, that's: My love life was getting so bland,
There are only so many ways I can make love with my hand - Blink 182 (M&M's) :D
@canalysis1 Can we seriously be friends and then you take me to meet them? lol haha
Brandon Flowers - genius? Me thinks you are throwing that term around a bit too loosely.
Dirt2 someone?
You replied to the wrong person, but I disagree.
The Killers...meh. Don't care much for them.

Sorry mate but your totally wrong. He is the best drummer out there at the moment.
afghan whigs
oh yeah. the mix is bad... still a solid effort if you ask me. this song kills.
wait, wait, wait, I know for a fact that I saw a walkmen show and bought a walkmen album, far before anybody even heard about the killers.
