This performance is great and you can tell letterman loved it. He really went over the top for future islands, but throughout the show's run he would get really excited about a good performance. I remember him really liking a performance of Cursive and Arcade Fire off the top of my head. He would rant about bands that never came on the show- I remember him going on and on about NIN after Woodstock and shortly thereafter Paul and the band started playing "Hurt" during commercial breaks. His musical tastes were always in the DNA of the show. The guy (it would seem) is a lot more plugged in than he seems when it comes to music.
Well they made it to a certain extent. But yeah the fact that a band like The Killers are way bigger than them says a lot about what's wrong with humanity as a whole haha.
I never get tired of this performance, probably will return in 10 years again, read my comment, and smile I'll still coming back to this.
replying so i can do the same

F--kin' best band we ever had on, Dave!
Great performance of such a cool song!
I don't think I ever noticed that he never really plays the beat on the snare. Such a simple and creative drum part!
A wonderful noise.

The fact that this band never made it big is a testament to Human stupidity.
