Very few people know this but the Elektron Analog RYTM + CR78 samples is absolutely amazing. You take some clean CR78 samples and apply just the tiniest amount of overdrive on each channel, and it sound SO authentic. There's something really special about the signal chain of the RYTM. Tiniest bit of overdrive, and gain stage it just right, and you get a very authentic vintage sound that just the clean samples couldn't accomplish.
@@nathanweneta2225 I suggest either Goldbaby or Zenhiser for the CR78 samples, they have some great packs. You upload the samples into the RYTM using either C6 or the Elektron Transfer utility (both are available on the Elektron site) When they're uploaded, you make a new kit, import the samples you want (like kick, snare, hat, etc.) to your project's RAM "pool" and select the samples you want on each pad/track. You should lower the volume on the synthesizer page, and raise the volume on the sample page. I tried this one time when I was trying to imitate the 'In The Air Tonight' CR78 pattern on the RYTM. To get it to sound just right, I had to fiddle with the overdrives too (adding a tiny bit of overdrive on some of the tracks helped make it feel more authentic)
@@nathanweneta2225 Np! Also consider that the original machines had internal components leading out into a master output... for example, a Linndrum is just samples, right? ..But no, it's also those samples running through a channel (with an amp and filter) into an internal mixer, through a master amplifier, and then out of the Linndrum's master output. It's all that extra stuff that makes the personality of the original drum machine. The RYTM has all of those components and you can sort of fine tune everything... the channel level, filter, & overdrive, per track, an internal mixer, as well as master, compression, distortion, then the final amplifier, and all of that out of the stereo output. If you configure each part right, you can sort of re-construct an emulation of the original drum machine you're imitating. Maybe it's not such a big deal, but I think it's a nice way to add authenticity to your productions.

If I squint my ears I can see where I'm listening to Radiohead you guys rock bro I love your talent because it takes a lot of talent to do just what you're doing you're learning so much and growing I watched your videos and your progression is awesome bro keep pushing forward can't wait to see what the future has for you guys....
Great performance! I've been looking for a good drum machine, this sounds lovely. Big up for that ROLAND RE-201, I have the very same model. keep up the good work, 頑張る!
Really nice. Such a simple percussive part by Jonny. I recently worked Thoms rythym up and next is jonnys part. But is it possible to maybe name the chords on the chorus after the C to the G with the A in the bass. The percussive part is simple but a tad tricky. I'll get it down by ear but would just save time. Nice video. Such a simple song from Radiohead yet very musical. Thoms melodies are classic. Radiohead is one band who's songs grow on you the more you listen to them. I hope they regroup and give us at least 2 or better yet 3 more albulms at the very least. Their music is still very relevant 30 years later and no doubt will continue to be. They could easily come back and knock it out of the ball park. They are far from creatively spent... the hypnotic vibe in their music is really powerful.
Absolutely perfect as usual. Been following your stuff for a few years now. I'm in the process of recording some of my own, but have been diving hard into some information on all of your analog goodies and what they all do. Would you ever do a video just showcasing all of your gear, or is there just a list somewhere where I can read up of what all you got? I think just about everything you have produces the sounds that I have been shooting for, but have been falling short not knowing where to look. Thanks again for your channel and looking forward to hearing more of your covers, mate! - David
Perfect instrumental, sir! And the way you resemble Jonny just makes it even crazier hahahha! Question: would you mind if I use your instrumental to record a vocal cover? Just for fun, really!
gracias amigo.... gran musico y creativo incluso en cober la complejidad de esta canción para que suene como en un estudio, felicitaciones por el amor y la dedicación que le pusiste
Stunning cover, Taka! Could you please share a bit how you achieved the tone for both guitars, like effects used etc.? I'd love to try to achieve something similar in sounding! I have completely different gear, but my amp is modular with many effects and might be able to pull it off somehow.
I am a follower of your channel friend, I congratulate you for your dedication and great work, you must dedicate many hours to get the great sounds of Jonny. Do not listen to the critics, we have people who enjoy your videos. Greetings from Chile. I forgot something, what guitar amplifier do you use?
So good! Are these drum sounds built into the RYTM, or did you sample them from something (a CR78?!)? They sound so good! You may have just sold me on buying an Analog RYTM too :)
great cover m8 🙏 may i ask; what pedals/effects and amp did you use for thom’s part in this video? he plays it with casino, you got a starcaster but you got very close to his tone. thanks!
The phrase is pretty simple. So learning the song is easy. But you may need to learn the vocal phrase as well. I often lose my way and thinking "Wait, What am I doing right now?"😂
I am fascinated by your covers! Every time you post something from Radiohead stuff means I don't need to look for any other covers on UA-cam, you are really good at it. Do you have any plans about your future covers or you would like to keep it as a small secret?) P.S. The reason why I like your covers is because you cover note by note, and I am wondering- do you use some tabs from the web or you make it out by ear? It seems similar to some tabs which I an find on the web, but your tabs seem more complete
Никита Вендель I'm so glad to hear that. I have no plan at the moment. (I'm impulsive...) I record favorite songs at that time. I don't use any tabs. just using my ears and my eyes. That can get much closer nuance to the their sound. For example, Thom often presses 6th string by his thumb. It's not usually written on the tabs. It might not absolutely necessary, but I believe that it is necessary to gain a better understanding of their music.
+Fluffy Momo yeah, I used to do the same. At least I check many live version and only then I check for the most accurate tabs but still Incan hear that something is missing. You make the most correct covers, nice job
the ultimate Johnny Greenwood cosplay lol
Great job. I like their live CR78 performance more than the album version, it's so pure. This is perfect
