The cover by HomeFree of Brothers in Arms comes from Club For Five ua-cam.com/video/Gerr99h0nS8/v-deo.html Their bass sent Tim their music composition for their cover of the Dire Straits classic. Both Home Free and Club For Five elevate the original to new heights.
At "three together" was Chance. He is a baritone with bass range and sang bass in his previous group before joining Home Free. He takes over the bass line when Tim sings the lead when he is singing baritone or tenor. Tim didn't enter until "they are four each other."
@@TrainingVoiceilaria Normally I wouldn't recommend this so early in a reactor's Home Free journey, but as vocal coach I think you'll get it. Listen to Mayday next. Then Tim's solo song Will You Still Love Me/Stay on his UA-cam channel.
Chance’s and Rob’s synchronization was so good at the beginning that the first time I heard this without watching the video I didn’t even realize there were two people singing! And I’m fairly certain that they had one person singing “They are one person,” two people singing “They are two alone,” three people singing “They are three together,” and four (or five) people singing “They are for (four) each other.” I think they matched the number of singers to the number in each line on purpose.
Thank you for your analysis. I grew up listening to CSN & had their album with this song Helplessly Hoping. Absolutely loved them & their harmonies. This song is full of alliterations. But I must say since I discovered Home Free they more than do justice to all the songs they cover. And this song is perfection to me with the 5 part harmonies. I can't say enough about how great these guys are & humble while still staying respectful to the original song.
Ciao Dagmar, thank you for watching my video :) In my personal opinion they have composed a special version because they created a beautiful harmonic hug♡♡♡ this makes me feel embraced by their voices
You can check out Tim singing all of the parts himself "overlay-ed" check out "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". It is a 1960s/70s doo wop style and he will surprise you with his range. It is on Tim Foust Music and it is on his album, "Pieces of Me."
This is the most professional and detailed analysis of a song I have ever seen. It is apparent that you take your reactions seriously and put a lot of time into your editing. Fantastic job!
Ciao Joseph, Thank you so much🙏I'm glad you appreciate my job and my dedication to these series of videos. Thanks to these beautiful voices we can learn many things, this is why I've decided to start to make this :) A big hug from Italy 🤗
That was a great reaction and analysis on Helplessly Hoping, You really can't go wrong with any of their music, from Tim's head rumbling bass in "Brothers in Arms," to Austin's high tenor in "When a Man Loves a Woman." Ciao, Ilaria.
Ciao Louis, Thank you so much for your advices, and for your precious donation, I'm very glad you appreciate my job, I put much I put a lot of effort and dedication into it and you have certainly noticed it, Thank you 🙏 ps. check out your email address ;)
The original is an AMERICAN ICON group called C.S.N. ..... their harmonies are incredible ..... this then is STILL MORE INCREDIBLE ... and of course benefiting from two more voices .... Wonderful Harmony, great Home Free !!! GBjj
I'd recommend their cover of castle on the hill it is lead by Chance and Tim, ring of fire is a lead by Tim and features Avi Kaplan, their cover of end of the road lead by Rob is great and their cover of mayday is just beautiful. I enjoyed your reaction and analysis, keep up the good work!
And if we're building a Christmas list let's add their beautiful rendition of Auld Lang Syne to that. No percussions so you get to hear all 5 members actually sing.
Besides the Home Free songs, you might enjoy Tim’s “Misty Mountains” video with Peter Hollens. Each of them sings multiple parts in that Lord of the Rings song.
Your analysis and reaction are among the most thorough and loving that I have ever heard for a music video. The work you did for this video is amazing, and probably limits the number of videos you can review. Don't worry, I will wait helplessly hoping for your next magnum opus. And THANK YOU.
Ciao Iron ;) I'm happy to read your comment, cause I understand that people here on my channel understand how much effort and how much time I spent for every video (I'm a one woman band) so you make me happy, thank you very much 🤗
You my dear lady are having a healing effect on traumas that I endured 50+ years ago, when I spent a semester as a voice major at a university. For one, I'm no longer angry about the requirement for "Italian Diction". Likewise, the rest of my complaints were self-inflicted or not the school's fault. You know, a lack of focus, a lack of discipline, an abysmal ability at ear training, etc. Guess I'll have to live with myself. But to reiterate, you have helped my understanding of those issues, or at any rate, given me the strength to look in a mirror.
As a new sub, I recommend the song Misty Mountains sung be Tim and Peter Hollands from The Hobbit. There are only 2 singers, but Peter is a master of layering his and Tim's voices many, many times to get a wonderful song.Tim's bass is incredible.
Home Free always hits a home run. Another fabulous acapella group is Voice Play. They have their own style, often utilizing costumes, makeup, sets, lighting, etc. They do a lot of Disney medleys (they kind of own Disney!), musical theater, as well as more mainstream songs. Favorites are Hoist the Colors, Warriors, Bang, The Dragonborn Comes, Carry on Wayward Son, If I Were a Rich Man.
Welcome to the Home Fries, keep going down the rabbit hole. You'll pick up a lot of new subscribers. But wait until you know the group well enough to name everyone, before you watch Mayday. A nice video to do next would be Adam Rupp the founder of the group Drum Solo so you'll understand what sets them apart from other Acapella groups.
Love your analysis. I hear Tim enter at the start of the phrase. I think Adam Rupp comes in on the word four. They remind me of a pipe organ, when they all sing together.
Ciao Brad, you're right, I prefer live performance because I can appreciate the true voices and they are great in studio and also in live, they are true professionals! I hope in the future there will be more live version with good audio quality of Home Free so I can appreciate them also in live :)
The great thing is ADAM RUPP ( Beat Boxer) gets to sing melodically in a Tenor 1 voice register - only other time is Christmas Hymns and Songs not needing percussion (simulated) So wonderful a group !!!
Thank you for your time and professional analysis. Adam Chance sang Bass in a previous group so he does have that darker, deeper tone when he wants it. Tim and Adam have switched parts in other songs.
Ciao Todd, I've imagine that Adam can make also low melodic lines because he has a very warm voice :) thank your for your contribution on Home Free here on my channel :)
Thank You for a quality reaction and analysis. So many just say wow.....wow...wow, not even understanding why. When I hear a cover by HomeFree I am so impressed that they bring honor to the original, even bringing an emphasis to the musicality that made the original so great. I enjoyed how you brought back the original CS&N recording to interject for even more analysis.
What a refreshing reaction! For Tim's voice you can also listen to his pairing with Peter Hollens called 'Misty Mountains', 'Brothers In Arms' and his solo project of 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow'.. Also, I am certain you will appreciate Austin's incredible solo project of 'Bring Him Home', from Les Miserables. Good music shall always be 'good music.' No matter the genre... Just keep enjoying and feel joy - isn't that what music was meant to be?
Ciao Shihan Sensei, thank you for your precious advice, I'm very happy to found here in YT thanks to you new artists and new music for my ears, from Italy I can discover world's music :)
If you are interested in warm bass notes with Tim and Chance as primary singers: If you want a surprise: . And if you would like to hear some of Tim's range, he does a solo, in voice: .
The comparison to CSN and HF is curious. Without the eighth note pulse of the guitar and only voices - i think the Home Free version is more haunting considering the rhythmic uncertainty without that foundational pulse.
Ciao George, you're right and I think also that a version with only human voices it's more resonant to ourself cause as human being we perceive thair chant as a sort of "ancestral call"
Their harmonies show up in every song, but a slightly older recording gives a really good showing of their harmonization - "Do You Hear What I Hear". Yes, it's a Christmas song and Chris Rupp (Adam's brother & co-founder of HF) appears instead of Chance.
Ciao, Ilaria. It doesn't seem like you got your answer, but I can help give my opinion. Rob started (We are one person, meaning, together they are "one") Then Austin comes in (We are "two" individuals alone.) and then I believe Chance comes in with his deeper baritone voice, (We are "three" together, because Steven Stills had a child.) Chance does fill in the bass parts when Tim sings in other songs, and then Tim and Adam come in, Adam filling in with the tenors, and Tim singing the line (we are "for" each other.) Ciao.
Ciaooooo! it's a beautiful journey here with Home Free, there are so many things and details to study and this means that there are lot of thing to learn :) Thank you for the advices :)
I always loved the CSN version but when Home Free came out with their version, I had to say, it blew the original out of the water for me. Their vocal harmonies are SO precise.
Everybody loves Tim’s low voice but my favorite is when Tim sings in the middle registry. In the song unchained melody his voice is mesmerizing! try that one thank you for your reaction!
Brava!..👏.. Hello Ilaria, Tua review 'e Favolosa! (I'm afraid that I didn't translate this correctly)... This is an outstanding review comparing the original Crosby Stills & Nash song with the Home Free interpretation...You can definitely hear the difference between a group singing as a quintet compared to a trio... Well Done! For a Tim Foust song to consider..."Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay" from his own y-tube channel...highly recommended... Looking forward to more of your channel/content... Ciao Paul, thank you so much for your appreciation and advices! Don't worry about your italian because I understood exactly what you've said ;) listening is very important for the artistic growth of me as a singer and also as voice teacher and for my students, this is why I've decided to create this format of Reaction + Analysis so we can learn many things thanks to beautiful singers ;) greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
I don't know if you do your own editing or not, but whomever does it, it is absolutely Awesome. Adam Rupp has an awesome Tenor probably between the ranges of Austin & Rob. Brilliant, an enlightening, & very enjoyable Reaction.
Ciao Denis, I am literally "One man band" cause I make by myself (make up, light, camera, editing and so much more) for now so Thank you so much for your advices and support, I'm very happy that you appreciate my job cause I put much effort and dedication to it ;)
If you would really like to blow your mind with his vocal range, take a moment and listen to Tim sing doo wap. Come and Go With Me then Will You Stay With Me are both amazing!
As was commented earlier, many times, at least since Adam Chance joined Home Free in 2016, people mistake Chance`s low voice for Tim's. Chance and Tim switch off rhythm and harmonic bass when the other sings lead or sings harmony with Austin and Rob. The usual three part harmony is either Austin, Rob, and Tim, or, Austin, Rob, and Chance. Earlier, it was easier to distinguish the rhythm bass style of Tim from Chance. Perhaps because the style of Chance's earlier group was more contemporary. Their rhythm bass styles are now becoming less distinguishable. To make it even more difficult to discern, some of deeper rhythm sounds lately are being produced by Adam Rupp experimenting with vocal percussion. In several recent recordings you can hear very high looping and staccato sounds that are produced by Rupp instead of Austin or Rob. Live, Rupp uses a loop recorder to capture alternative sounds so he can produce vocal percussion live during the performance. All five have such large ranges that the pitch you hear might not be produced by whom you normally would anticipate.
Ciao Playlester, happy to find you here :) I find this way of arranging songs to be brilliant! Everyone is fundamental and everyone enriches the group, wonderful!
Senza togliere niente agli altri... preferisco la versione degli Home Free. Per cantare in cinque hanno molta più melodia. Spettacolari in ogni canzone che fanno. Li adoro
La prima canzone che ho sentito è stata "How great thou art". Bellissima... Quindi ho voluto approfondire e ho trovato "My church"... Poi tutte le altre. Ultimamente, devo dire ogni giorno ascolto "God bless the USA"... "Sea shanty"... "Brothers in arms"... "Traveling soldiers"... Una più bella dell'altra... Mi commuovo perché sono troppo bravi ❤️
@@sarasanna3540Ciao Sara! "How great thou art" me l'hanno consigliata tutti e attendo impaziente di farci una reazione e quindi di ascoltarla per la prima volta. non vedo l'ora!!!
here you go: Tim Faust solo work using nearly his full vocal range: ua-cam.com/video/8bN9bgwR0DI/v-deo.html it's a cover of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and "Stay" for his Pieces of Me album.
I've been a huge Crosby, Stills fan since the days of Buffalo Springfield. This song along with a few others are my lifelong, special favorites. Home Free is better, IMHO.
Ciao Pamela, thanks to another Home Free's fan I've discovered that probably the lowest line that I've listened in the phrase before was the voice of Adam Chance, so Tim enter in the phrase "for each other" as you said :)
Any of TIms solo album. It's do whap. But, this is no where near his lowest note. He can go more than an octave lovwer and about 3 octaves higher. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow

Something I learned years ago was not to take in a breath through the mouth especially when using a microphone but to take in a breath through your nose.
put simply, we increase the size of our thorax cavity expanding the ribs (which rais like a pail handles) and lowering the diaphragm, in this way the air enters through our nostrils in the lungs :) It's helpful think about a controlled exhalation (if you wanna sing) and not to inhale, cause we make it automatically, otherwise we would be dead :) @@markthoele1808

Yes, "Brothers in Arms" really showcases Tim's hauntingly low timbre.

I always loved the CSN version but when Home Free came out with their version, I had to say, it blew the original out of the water for me. Their vocal harmonies are SO precise.
yes, they're professional and create a beautiful harmonic hug :)
You would love their coveer of Brothers in Arms ... but prepare to be emotionally moved - features Tim
Grazie mille per il suggerimento non vedo l'ora !!!
😊🔥🔥
Everybody loves Tim’s low voice but my favorite is when Tim sings in the middle registry. In the song unchained melody his voice is mesmerizing! try that one thank you for your reaction!
I love the voice of Tim, so I'll listen your song Debbie 🤗
We have to remember Tim has 5 octave range.
Brava!..👏..
Hello Ilaria,
Tua review 'e Favolosa!

You should go listen to there cover of: How Great Tho Art, its a cover off a religious hymn
Grazie mille😍
You need to go listen to their version of May Day.
Ciao Ray, I can't wait! I'm back with new videos
Loved this and bringing in the original, too
Ciao Nancy, I'm glad you appreciate my job, thank you 🤗
Home Free "Lets Get It on" has Tim singing with warm tones you will like!
Ciao James, thank you :)
@@TrainingVoiceilaria Your welcome, you can also check out "In The Blood" by Home Free.
Ciao Cary, thank you so much for your precious advices, I've added into my Home Free's list :)
Everyone is fundamental and everyone enriches the group, wonderful!
on 3 it sounds like Chance me me!!!!!!
I very much enjoy your reactions ❣
Ciao Tracy, I'm glad you appreciate my job, Grazie 🤗
Nice and best reaction ❣️👌
Ciao Meshach, thank you so much :)
@@TrainingVoiceilaria you are most welcome 👌

La prima canzone che ho sentito è stata "How great thou art". Bellissima... Quindi ho voluto approfondire e ho trovato "My church"... Poi tutte le altre. Ultimamente, devo dire ogni giorno ascolto "God bless the USA"... "Sea shanty"... "Brothers in arms"... "Traveling soldiers"... Una più bella dell'altra... Mi commuovo perché sono troppo bravi ❤️
@@sarasanna3540Ciao Sara! "How great thou art" me l'hanno consigliata tutti e attendo impaziente di farci una reazione e quindi di ascoltarla per la prima volta. non vedo l'ora!!!
Sarà sicuramente una bella sorpresa
here you go: Tim Faust solo work using nearly his full vocal range: ua-cam.com/video/8bN9bgwR0DI/v-deo.html
it's a cover of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and "Stay" for his Pieces of Me album.
Ciao Jerry thank your for your advices :)
For Tim Brothers in Arms
Thank you so much!
Great analysis :) To me it sounds like Tim is starting in on the phrase "they are for eachother".
Ciao Tina, thank you for your reply ;)
I've been a huge Crosby, Stills fan since the days of Buffalo Springfield. This song along with a few others are my lifelong, special favorites. Home Free is better, IMHO.
I think Tim comes in at for each other
Ciao Pamela, thanks to another Home Free's fan I've discovered that probably the lowest line that I've listened in the phrase before was the voice of Adam Chance, so Tim enter in the phrase "for each other" as you said :)
I think maybe Chance sounds bass on a few notes of 3 together
Any of TIms solo album. It's do whap. But, this is no where near his lowest note. He can go more than an octave lovwer and about 3 octaves higher. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow
Ciao Brad thank you for your contribution here on Home Free 😀 that song it's on my list
thank you for the video Home Free' fantastic harmony~♡ Their performances are always healing to me..

Something I learned years ago was not to take in a breath through the mouth especially when using a microphone but to take in a breath through your nose.
Ciao Mark, you hit the point: we breathe through our nostrils, not with our nostrils!
I do say with
Try to improve
Didn't say with
put simply, we increase the size of our thorax cavity expanding the ribs (which rais like a pail handles) and lowering the diaphragm, in this way the air enters through our nostrils in the lungs :) It's helpful think about a controlled exhalation (if you wanna sing) and not to inhale, cause we make it automatically, otherwise we would be dead :) @@markthoele1808
Rob is not now or ever have a bass voice
Bass is Tim. Rob is a tenor
Adam chance provides the deeper voice before Tim enters, Adam is a Baritone/bass, not quite as deep as tim though
Ciao Brad, thank you so much, I understand :)

It's not Crosby Stills Nash & Young
Luckily Neil Young had nothing to do with this song
Original is still better but this one is great as well
