Thank you Thank you Thank you! It is so important to be reminded that the goal is not perfection, not to stay within the lines... As an aspiring artist I have to constantly slap myself on the hand, to remember to have fun while learning... Your tutorial class is a peaceful heaven, and off course, those two factors light and negative space are a fantastic way of creating a (hopefully) masterpiece!

Reading the other comments, I see that I'm not the only one afraid to put that first bit of paint on paper. It is so intimidating. You are so relaxed about it and seem to have so much fun with it, I may try it again. I hope to see more of your videos. :)

😄 *She's the first person I've seen on these watercolor vids that moves the water closer to her so she's not reaching across the table every time the brush needs cleaning. (The funny things one notices...) 😋 Lol*

What I like about her tutorials is she tells you how to use the brush, which part of the brush, what to do with the water, the paint, etc. What's great too is she doesn't go on and on about things that a newbie to watercolor isn't interested in . . . yet. Certainly plan to try this one!

Oh Joanne, this is beautiful! Everything that I have watched you paint on UA-cam is so wonderful. You amaze me by making it look so easy and; therefore, you have also inspired me very much. I like it when you say, "Don't be scared". That's how I felt when I first started to paint. Well, my friend that has helped me with my painting has told me many times that it is just a piece of paper. How true, and I am not as "scared" anymore. Thank you so much for all the tutorials that you have shared. You are amazing, and if you ever come to Canada to do a workshop, please let us know. :)

    Dear Joanne:
Would you call yourself a COLORIST? A person that keeps to a specific color scheme, without deviation? If not, what would you call your style? It is strikingly beautiful. I am a retired Illustrator and Disabled Veteran from the U.S. Coast Guard 1969-1978...I suffered a massive bleed inside my head from a 5mm aneurysm's rupture back in 1973. It destroyed my short term memory and my ability to keep things neat, and stay on task.
Well Here I am watching your style, and enjoying the technique! I have degrees in Art, Education and Illustration, and I worked in all three areas of interest, and retired from BOEING in Seattle, WA. in 1998. I am attempting to instruct my handicapped wife how to draw and eventually try to paint too! Wish me luck!
Do you have any info on Pallet color selections for bright and Springy looking color schemes? Your help will be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU again for the beautiful flowers!

I know all of these video art classes are advertisements to sell your SAA products, but you could at least leave a reply to viewers with a genuine enquiry and to people who show great respect for the SAA artists, but after watching many of your advert video classes, you have only left 2 replies in nearly 200 messages! Total disrespect and you are missing out on knew many sales of which these classes are all about - Crazy!

Joanne you are one of the wonderful painters I watch and learn from. You always make me feel that what I am doing is not hard but possible if I just "let go". While I am a less "loose" painter because of my personality(!), I always learn from you to let go and have fun. We don't need to be one or the other "kind" of painter. Thank you for all your encouragement!
