This is advanced, yet easy to follow. You explain very well -and your method is wonderful. It's interesting to watch you paint dry - yet the result looks so much like wet-in-wet, but somehow more refined. Love this. Thank you.

I can't believe I've only just discovered your channel! I've learnt so much in just the one video! Your style is so beautiful - translucent, watery and light. My style (if you can call it a style) is the complete opposite - I'm constantly in a rush to finish a painting, dislike focusing on details, and lack patience in general. It was so rewarding to finish this piece with you given this was also personally so difficult on a mental level. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us ❤

hi mochi - I found I was rushing through as well, just to keep up with the artist.... my projects look terrible! lol. Then I learned that the other channels are not being authentic in their vids for the actual time it takes. I've deleted my saves of other channels and will now only watch/follow Sunset Peonies.

I was so captivated by this painting, I just had to try it, even though I haven't painted with watercolour since I was a child. I was thrilled with how it turned out. Unfortunately I only had limited colour options with my paint as I only had a sample pack of watercolours, but I think I will definitely try it again to see if I can get an even better result. You mentioned in your video that you were concerned it might be too complex for beginners, well whilst I am a beginner at watercolours, I have always drawn and painted with acrylics, and found your video and super helpful and insightful guidance and instructions really easy to follow. I shall try your other tutorials too. Thank you so much for your time and sharing your beautiful talent ❤️

At the first of the video you talk about the red paint lifting off when you try to add more. There is a reason for that. You have to put the first coat of paint on and then leave it alone until it is completely dry. Then you can add more paint without lifting the previous paint. You can continue to let it dry and add more paint as many times as you like. Also, see if your watercolor paper is 100% cotton. If it is not that could also be your problem. When I use cellulose pulp paper my colors lift and it’s very hard to paint on. 100% cotton is more expensive but it is worth the cost. Your flowers are beautiful and you are a very talented artist. Thank you for sharing!!

Oh let me clarify! It’s English as second language that messed me up! I mean the red line that I draw here and there that you can see. I should have said squiggly line! Not a rigid outline just here and there for stylization!! I hope that makes sense! Not a full outline! Thank you for your kind words too! Yes try it and have fun and let me know!!! My granddaughter was only three years old when I started painting and she would come and stand beside me and I will put the primary colours on the ice cream lid and stand a little canvas in front of her. She would take her pallet knife and mix the colours exactly the way I did And today she’s a fantastic artist, but she started. She was only three years old. She could do your portrait in a blink of an eye. She was only four.

New subscriber here...after falling in love with this video 5 minutes in I was already subscribing. 😁
I was wondering if you could tell me what two brushes you used on this. The caption doesn't always work right.
I saw the comment from another asking and tried the link to your blog but it won't work. So, I went to your bio and clicked the link them searched for poppies but I still couldn't find the brushes listed. 😂
I did find a wonderful story about your daughter I enjoyed and the drawing is so helpful so thank you for that.
I searched through the comments too and either I'm blind or inept which could definitely be the case of maybe it was posted elsewhere.
Who knows but if you could help that would be great!
You are an amazing artist but what I love the most is how you teach and take your time whereas lot of you tube artist skip steps with editing or fly through it so fast us beginners end up lost or at least me.
And for my sanity I'm believing it isn't just me.😂
Thank you for the beautiful and elegant teacher and artist you are. I'm off to find more treasures from you.
Oh, I also saw the lamb blog post and it was beautiful along with the story and I can't wait to do it a little closer to Easter!
