- While building the laundry room (not too long ago), we wanted to install butcher block for our countertop for the pantry side and above the washer/dryer. I've never done anything like this before so I wanted to give it a try.
First I found someone local that milled slabs of maple. Brought it home ripped it into around 2" sticks then glued them together. NOTE: One thing I didn't do right was the amount of clamps I used. I should of tripled it and used about 10+ clamps per butcher block. However, it turned out well regardless, the I sanded it, and just sealed it. Didn't used stain since this wood has a pretty color to it as well. Then I installed it! We're pretty happy about it! Give it a try, great DIY project! Takes about a week with drying time.
