Home Made New

A five year journey remodeling a 100+ year old farmhouse with my wife! We love it, and I'm sure our dog Apollo loves it too! If I'm not remodeling our home, I'm filming other projects. I started a videography business a few years ago, and it's been pretty rewarding. Oh, and every now and then we'll take a family trip and film the best parts of it (check out the few we have already)!
100 Year Old Brick Walkway Timelapse Transformation
It's been years since I've been wanting to do this project. Just never either got to it or it was winter time which made it harder. But I'm finally done! Cool thing about this project is that the brick I used is from the old chimney in the home, so over 100 years old worth of brick. Now that's amazing! Figured it would be an great touch the the entrance of the home! Enjoy!

So I've built the attic loft space from nothing, now it was time to build a half bathroom upstairs right next to the two rooms. I envisioned a subway tile wall with some unique flooring to make it stand out. Pretty pleased with how it turned out! ○ Here is the timelapse video of the attic renovation Incredible Attic Transformation in 5 Min | Timelapse DIY Attic Loft Renovation ➡️ ua-cam.com/vid...
Amazing Gingerbread Church Build Timelapse
Переглядів 5983 роки тому
This holiday season our family had a gingerbread competition. My wife and I recently watched the Netflix show Outlander and thought we should build something from there, and a few weeks ago we visited Charleston. We loved the white church there too (St. Michael's Church Charleston). So we decided to put the two ideas together! The Comrie Church in Scotland and St. Michael's Church in Charleston...
Build Your Own Butcher Block Countertop DIY | Timelaspe
Переглядів 1 тис.3 роки тому
While building the laundry room (not too long ago), we wanted to install butcher block for our countertop for the pantry side and above the washer/dryer. I've never done anything like this before so I wanted to give it a try. First I found someone local that milled slabs of maple. Brought it home ripped it into around 2" sticks then glued them together. NOTE: One thing I didn't do right was the...
Attic Transformation Part 2 | Insulation Electrical Drywall

2020 was a year that I finally tackled some of the big projects in our home. The attic loft was one of them. When we moved in, we had no idea there was a huge space above our master bedroom and bathroom, it wasn’t until I knocked a hole in the wall and found a huge space that had potential. Now, it serves as my office and storage, as well as a little nook and library. This video will go into so...

A different kind of video, but it could be helpful to someone! First off, this Dyson is a must have in your home. If you dont have a massive home or space to vacuum then this is the vacuum to have. From it's power to it's compact features. It's worth the money for sure! Second, the battery will wear out over time. For us this happened sometime later on year two. Tough Stains in Your Shower/Tile?
Переглядів 9583 роки тому
So this pretty much happens to all showers. Eventually! The shower or bath tub begins to build up some calcium or lime. Or in general it gets old looking over time because the grout color fades. Well, this video right here will show you a brilliant way to bring the shine back to your shower. We built this beautiful shower a few years ago, but over time it cracked and built up some lime and calc...
Makes a Huge Difference | Mailbox Makeover DIY

This is one simple and easy way to transform your curb appeal. My personal thought is that the mailbox is pretty under rated when it comes to home improvement projects. Mailbox is the first impression of the home. So take a day or two and find the mailbox design you like and make it happen. I took down my 100 year old mailbox and made a new one from scratch, so whatever stage you are in with in...

Creative Under Stairs Closet Storage

Finally made it happen! We always seem to run out of storage in our home so this space really does help. Under the stairs is kind of an awkward space, not much to work with, also the height isn't great, the on top of all that, the HVAC return box is right in the middle. So after some thinking, this was a way to make this space useful, simple to build, and under $100. If you'd like the quick ver...

The Incredible Fumble - Western Carolina Homecoming 2014
What was that you were cutting out at 7:45?
Unless I missed it he didn't add ventilation before adding insulation, theres gonna be mold behind that sheetrock eventually...
I am planning on a very similar flip in my mom’s home! However, I want the knee walls to be doors for storage. Therefore, I will not dry wall behind the knee walls. Is there a way to “seal” the whole attic so critters don’t find their way in? I figured un-dry walled portions may be more susceptible to bugs and mice coming in? Please don’t come for me in the comments if I sound dumb, I’m attempting to teach myself everything I need to know about doing this flip. Thank you
Thanks for making this video. It was super helpful!
I cannot thank you enough for the video, which motivates me to renovate my attic. I live in Boston, MA, which requires a permit to renovate an attic. I wonder how you dealt with the permitting process that requires architectural and engineering designs? How long did the permitting process take you and how much you paid an architect and an engineer for their designs?
Just wondering did you secure the roof at the peak together with ridge straps on top because there are no collar ties at the top third of the roof. If not may want to consider going on the roof and doing to protect from uplift since the collar ties were removed at some point.
Beautiful!
My attic looks like this on the before picture. I wish I had his skills. I can't afford this.
At 2025 end transform attic
Good job man! I’m doing exactly the same here in Sweden right now. Thanks for the inspiration.
This turned out beautiful. I would have done one extra thing and add invisible sliding drawers from the side walls to utilize that remaining space, or it could be cabinets. Yes, you would have had to close them in but it would have been worth it for extra storage up there. Vertical shiplap on the side walls would hide the drawer or cabinet seams.
what's the song? love it
Not even sure. Haha
Where are the stairs?
There is a little hallway through the door and downstairs.
You did an amazing job! I will try to do this in my attic space above my garage.
It’s worth it!
Nice job!!! I got a question, what kind of Heat and A/C you use for the new attoc
Got a mini spit to help with the main as well.
Should insulation move from floor to ceiling ?
Got both. Floor mainly for soundproof
Hi Tim - I have a couple of questions about this (hope you don’t mind answering). First what dimension of wood did you use? Are those 1x6 boards or 1x8 boards? Second how did you screw everything together? Were you creating pocket screw holes or just screwing the boards in at an angle or were you using nails? Thanks for this, my husband and I are looking at doing something similar to this in our semi-bungalow. We love how your project turned out. Super sharp!
Hi, sorry. Month late. So original floor was 2x6 original 2x6 so more like actual 2” and closer to 6”-7”. Not like current wood. I used screws some and nails but liquid nails for wood too to keep it solid. So just have to reenforce really well
Now that is what you call skill
I know this is old. I am looking to finish my houses loft area but I am worried about ventilation. What kind of ventilation does your loft have to prevent temps and mold?
So I have a separate mini spilt there to keep circulation and also the metal roof and some breathing around through the wood rafters.
Bunch of trash comments on here... You crushed this bro, thanks for the excellent video. I'm about to tackle my attic that is very similar and this EXACTLY what I needed. LMK If a part 3 is in the works! I'd be eager to see it. Cheers!
No trash, just facts that can help someone avoid some of his mistakes like putting wires into the ceiling outside a junction box which is illegal and not to code in every state in the union. It's a fire hazard!
It is possible to appreciate someone's work and still make helpful life-saving comments.
Yeah, been wanting to make an update video about it. Soon. Thanks!!
Hello, can you tell an estimate how much it would cost to do this? Thankyou
Best rough estimate is around 3k-4 at the time. Prices have gone up with supplies.
Just bought a house last year. Looking to remodel and finish my attic. Please tell me what tools I will need?
Nail gun is a big one with screw gun hammer and tape measure. Saw, table saw helps too.
How much do you think this would cost to hire someone for this size room? Also how long thanks!
Dang. Well, maybe cost 10k about a month or two.
you outdid yourself that was so entertaining and inspiring im boutta make my own
👌🏼
What did you do for cooling this down?
I have a mini spit in addition to some of the HVAC air.
WOW 😮awesome work
Is it unbearably hot up there?
Nope. Got a mini spit in the room next to it. Breaths well.
looks like you cut out rafter ties. Could you explain? did you drop the floor/ceiling?
Old house the way the built it. Looks like it but it was like that when I moved in
Goodness gracious, you work fast. lol. Just kidding. Fabulous job. I watched your video looking for tips. You gave me a lot to think about.
Thanks!!
Well done. 122 year old house I'm considering having this done.
Same this one over 100
about to tackle the attic 👌
Amazing how much total costs
3-4k around the time. Prices have definitely gone ip
Nice job bro.... Well done🤩❤
This is awesome! Congrats on this project! I am thinking about renovating mine. It looks very similar to this one, I am not sure the results will be the same 😅. Question, did you have any concern about the insulation? Like no airflow between insulation and the roof? I can see some nails sticking out in the first minute. Congrats on the video too! It tells a lot without saying a word!
I have a mini spit as well. So that helps. Then a metal roof helps it breath.
Dayum!
Deserved more likes - super transformation
Appreciate it!
How did it work having food on the shelves in the laundry room?
It’s been great, space is large. Big windows, good ventilation. We have had no issues
What size was the window? How about the glass above the window? I noticed you were able to install window from the inside did you cut out wood to access for that? Did you hire a structural engineer to help with calculations to strengthen the room and floor / ceiling joists?
Yes. So window is around 42x48 or something like that. Found that little window as well at a retail store of some sort. Yes, I’ve had advice for the structure. It’s just making sure what’s under it that matters and what size. So it worked.
been 3 years, hows the mold?
Roof breathes fine.
If The Flash was a part time carpenter 😂
Wait so i have a question. Is it possible to expand into a square Attic to make each floor equal?
Yeah. Just have to be sure the structure is good.
How old is this home and what state, region, area is it in please.
Carolina’s. About 100 years old.
@@HomeMadeNew OK thank you. I asked you area because I have an attic that I’m transforming into a finish second floor and I’m not sure how to insulate it. I am in Minnesota with very cold winters humid summers.
YOY ARE ....
What was your budget for this project?
At the time, 3k
Looks great!!! I didn't see any HVAC though. How are they going to keep that space cool in the summer?? Will they be able to use that space? I'm not down playing what you did but at the same time, are they going to be able to use that beautiful space that you created?? Was that even discussed? Did you just do what they wanted to make that cash??
Yes. Got HVAC. This is my home.
Nice job!!!
Appreciate it!
Venting up there or is it conditioned? Nice work
Conditioned.
The most effort of renovating the attic, I like it!
I appreciate it!
Amazing what cocaine can do.
🤙🏼
What a slacker., i saw you took a break on that bucket for .75 of a second.
Oh man, it was way more than that!
