    I have this pack and I'll add a couple of points:
    I've used the space under the laptop sleeve to store documents I want to keep protected, otherwise, they'd probably end up crumpled.
    As for the water bottle pocket... it's nice that it doubles as a stuff pocket, but when the bag is packed full (which admittedly I don't often do) it makes shoving a water bottle there a bit tricky/borderline impossible, I wish it had an elastic gusset or something. It's a minor inconvenience but for someone looking to buy the bag It might be useful to know :)

      I 1000% agree. This is my 2nd Osprey pack ever, and I've been interested their products for almost 10 years. Simply because....they did make ugly packs, especially with their old logo. This pack not only looks decent, it looks really nice. Thanks for the comment! Give it a thumbs up if possible. Do you have this pack or any from Osprey?

    I'm all for moving the laptop to the back but the implementation is a bit weird and the removal of the entire front organizational compartment was a bad decision. The old design had not just a laptop sleeve, but also a large zipper pocket (good for a passport, cables, small flat items), and a deep compartment that could fit many things. I'd drop my sling, headlamp, chargers, hat, etc. in there. Now you practically have to use separate containers or just leave your stuff completely unorganized in the main compartment. I almost guarantee Osprey will re-add some organization to the next variant.

  • @dvz19777
    @dvz19777 День тому

    Can i just ask. I bought this the other day. Is there no way of securing the back flap when stowed away? I roll it up and theres a hole for me to push it into but no velcro or clips to stop it falling out? Seems strange. Or when its stowed does it not fall out? The older packs show it secured with velcro

The only hesitation is that Ospreys hip pack cannot be removed and it’s made more like a normal backpack. Thanks for the great review! I'm currently waffling between this (or the Fairview as some of the woman specific bags fit me better) and Six Moon Designs' ADC. @kennethstagg9520 Місяць тому +2

      @@EDG Great timing, eh? Here are my current thoughts.
      I’m a lot more familiar with the Osprey brand, given how long they’ve been around, and that warrantee is amazing. I like that it has the external compression straps that I could use to lash on a day pack for use on local trails and as a personal item for flying. I probably wouldn’t go with the Osprey day pack since I already have a Gregory Maya 20 that I love, and I’m pretty sure it could be attached if needed. If I’m using a daypack, then a lot of the organizational shortcomings of the Osprey are mooted and it will give me someplace to keep all of my Li batteries items if I need to gate check the main bag. At first glance, the back panel on the Osprey also looks like it would be better for ventilation. Zipping the straps behind a cover seems pretty non-fiddly, too.
      IIRC, the ADC is lighter, which I wouldn’t object to as long as it does the job. I at least love the *idea* of the pockets on the shoulder straps and better ones on the waist belt. The ability to remove the waist belt could be handy if the bag isn’t packed too heavily. The squared off design also looks like it will be a better use of space (thinking of the 35L, so it’s narrower and thinner than the Osprey.) I generally prefer the side-by-side opening -vs- the end-to-end opening of the Osprey. The extra organization of the one, long, pocket on the front of the bag is good as well. The water bottle pocket looks like a real winner on the ADC. SMD’s Zero Gravity pouch would be a great complimentary personal item if it was big enough to handle my computer or my iPad, but it’s not so I’d need to be looking at something else.
      I think if I was trying to do exactly one bag the ADC would be an easy choice, but I’ve had to gate-check bags before where the gate attendants told me I needed to make sure the bag didn’t have any Li batteries, so having something to handle all of those items separately seems prudent.

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Місяць тому +2

      @ thanks for all that info. You should be a bag reviewer haha. Everything you said about the pluses is true. A few things to comment on. The ADC strap tuck mechanism is second worst to matadors globe riders abomination of fiddlyness. The shoulder and waist belt pockets are also incredible. The shoulder pockets fit sunglasses any size phone, and even a plastic water bottle. It sounds like you’re aware of the waist strap being removable as well . The ADC bottle pocket is also God tier amazing because it fits tall water bottles and secure them fully . One point that may sway your decision. is the squared off design of the ADC does NOT necessarily make it easier to pack. My largest criticism of the ADC is the main packing area is only 3.5 inches deep. it is extremely shallow to pack stuff in given at size, it was an awkward packing experience for me. I also prefer side to side opening versus ospreys top to bottom. But the Osprey is a better packings experience because the ADC is so shallow. The Osprey also has a far superior, back panel and laptop storage. The ADC as a laptop storage that is basically unusable., if that’s sways your decision. I would personally still go with osprey with the bags as they are . But if the Osprey had a removable waist belt, it wouldn’t be a close fight. Let me know if you have more questions. I love questions like this.

      @@EDG Thank you so much! Sure, I could get extra depth for the ADC by going with the ADC+, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it. I just saw a hack to deal with the waist belt on the Osprey, too - looping it back around the front of the pack and fastening it there. Just tried it with the Gregory and it works great (making the daypack better for urban use, I think.) I think the Osprey is going to be it, for me.
