Nice to sea at the Øresund Bridge in the Volvo xc90 video. I am from Denmark so have travelled there a couple of times. I hope you and Lea had a good time in both Denmark and Sweden.
Hi Thomas, great review. I did not hear you mention the 1.5dci engine from the previous generation, have they cancelled the Diesel engine? It would be a shame because that was the one most sold in my country.
Not particularly relevant for me as we don’t have the autobahn, but enjoyed watching the video. Consensus seems to be that the 2WD and 4WD manual are the best choices. By the way you could also make a video of the Duster on a Nurburgring lap, or a drag race, I’d still watch it 😂
Interesting review, but you can't say the acceleration figure is dangerous. You have to adapt your driving to the vehicle you're driving, the conditions and the traffic around you. If you don't have the space to safely pull out and overtake, then you wait until it is safe to do so...
I know what you mean, but try some German Autobahn areas which I tried and you ll agree. Often its way safer to accelerate quickly and get away then staying slow and taking the next spot, a lot of people dont really let you in
I’m expecting that trim and colour in two weeks…. I have a gen 2 also. It is great value for money for a 4x4 , spending 60 to 100k for a land cruiser or defender is not an option and if I could I wouldn’t want to take it off road for fear of scratching!
Those are not winter tires. Those are All Seasons (3 peaks M+S) which are legally enough to qualify as winter tires across Europe where some countries make at least those (or real proper winter tires) mandatory during winter/snow. Those universal/all-season tires are enough for a bit of snow. Though real proper winter tire (and at least FWD, or even better AWD, probably no luck with RWD) would mean you can actually make serious climbs (like 30 or more degrees) covered with snow - without needing to put snow chains.

A very interesting presentation and an interesting SUV with high clearance! Small cars of the Renault-Nissan, Dacia, Mercedes group are of course good! In Asia and India, there is an international manufacturer called "Tata motors cars", which has a selection of small cars with high clearance at very affordable prices, but for some reason there is no faith in these cars and rather they are intended for the market of warm countries, although it is written that they are international! It would be interesting to see some Tata SUVs in the test!🚙🚗🛻🚜
Good thing we put engines with power... the base comes with a 1.6 with manual transmission and 115hp, and the most equipped with the 1.3T also manual and 155hp .... As electrification is not fashionable here, we can have this type of engines....
There is already a 1.6 140hp full hybrid , the Duster will get later the new 1.8 155hp full hybrid. This new engine is already available in the new Dacia Bigster. The futur Renault Clio 6 will also get it in 2025-2026.
@@anthonydelcoure1264 But the important thing is to put engines without the fashion of electrification and that have manual transmission. I'll even tell you more... The most important thing is that you can choose the manual transmission in a vehicle at the full equipment level.
@@faygox955 The electrification is now mandatory if you want to sell new cars in Europe. I think hybrid engines are a very efficiente technology in term of range, consumption and pollution emissions for exemple.
@@anthonydelcoure1264 The pollution thing is totally irrelevant... Europe is a very small continent compared to the world and it does not change anything. If they want to improve that, the easiest thing would be not to consume products made in China, which generates 50% of the world's pollution. world, among those making batteries for electric and hybrid cars... but I know they are not going to do that..... But even the most important thing... is that they take away the possibility of choosing from the user who wants a manual transmission in a fully equipped car... That's why I say... as long as this fashion continues, it will gradually fade away. .. Many of us will continue betting on manual used vehicles... And finally... banning new cars is very bad, the same as banning driving in places... it is very fascist on the part of the EU... In my country they don't even think of that, because it is precisely unconstitutional.. that individual freedom cannot be restricted.... Luckily in my country we import their bodies and put engines and transmissions in them that interest us...
I had quite a lot of experience with previous generation and driving more than 300km is a nightmare because of uncomfortable seats. No problem on the short distances around the city, but long journeys are the pain. Is this new model better in terms of seating and driving comfort? And of course - lack of diesel is not the wisest step.

I really love the car but if the acceleration is borderline dangerous for Autobahn then I think I'll pass on this one. I drive a 2002 Mercedes C180K and, while it gives the same ~10sec it's pretty good in the 60-100 range thanks to the supercharger, and yet I had some dangerous moments merging into Autobahn (hello polish truck drivers)
It’s interesting to me in a world where there is such pressure to reduce carbon emissions, Germany persists with very high motorway speeds and the associated pollution level. Some manufacturers are already limiting their cars speed and so the Dacias performance outside of an autobahn, ie the rest of the world, is probably adequate and in line with what you would expect from a car like this. Dacia should be applauded for bringing such an interesting and affordable car to the market, it makes a refreshing change from the overweight and oversized led clad monsters filling up the roads and literally costing the earth to manufacture. The Dacia seems a much better solution.
If a political party would suggest that in Germany, it would boost the votes for the Nazi party even more because they then can say "look how the established parties want to control your life"
Yes..LEDs, touchscreens, digital clusters, clima, etc. etc. a lot o goodies compared to the first Duster. Just compare the price of a halogen headlight with a LED headlight. Multiply by 2. There you have around 1000Euro extra...

Nice to sea at the Øresund Bridge in the Volvo xc90 video. I am from Denmark so have travelled there a couple of times. I hope you and Lea had a good time in both Denmark and Sweden.
we always have! Besides the current weather :) Which is the same in Germany hehe
Hi Thomas, great review. I did not hear you mention the 1.5dci engine from the previous generation, have they cancelled the Diesel engine? It would be a shame because that was the one most sold in my country.
Thanks 🙏 yes thats cancelled
A Kia xCeed is not much more in price, but it is in another league in build quality.
Not particularly relevant for me as we don’t have the autobahn, but enjoyed watching the video. Consensus seems to be that the 2WD and 4WD manual are the best choices.
By the way you could also make a video of the Duster on a Nurburgring lap, or a drag race, I’d still watch it 😂
A Dacia testing on laptimes come on.

Did this get that James May stamp of approval
For the highway you should have test it the hybrid version 4x2
Should have tested this car off road . The autobahn test is irrelevant. Off road would put a 911 to shame 😅.
no legal way of offroading in Germany besides 1 or 2 offroad parks with obstacles
Often its way safer to accelerate quickly and get away then staying slow and taking the next spot, a lot of people dont really let you in
Duster is actually the only car you need.
Good job Dacia, good car and good driver.
I’m expecting that trim and colour in two weeks…. I have a gen 2 also. It is great value for money for a 4x4 , spending 60 to 100k for a land cruiser or defender is not an option and if I could I wouldn’t want to take it off road for fear of scratching!
enjoy !
Looks pretty good!
There is no maximum speed limit on the German highway! 😮😮😮🤯🤯🤯
Yes, in some areas..
I’d buy this if it was available in Canada
Myślałem że będzie głośno w środku... Ale nie ma tragedii
Does the LPG version provide automatic gearbox
sadly no, just the hybrid
Those are not winter tires. Those are All Seasons (3 peaks M+S) which are legally enough to qualify as winter tires across Europe where some countries make at least those (or real proper winter tires) mandatory during winter/snow.
Those universal/all-season tires are enough for a bit of snow. Though real proper winter tire (and at least FWD, or even better AWD, probably no luck with RWD) would mean you can actually make serious climbs (like 30 or more degrees) covered with snow - without needing to put snow chains.
Dacia is becoming too expensive!! the prices of new Dacia is 50% gone up !
And they removed their best engine the diesel 🤷😄
Like all cars man. The new Duster feels and looks way more mature than the predecessor. What to do. This is the world we are living in.
@balintk.9373 stop buying plastic cars, dont give them hard earned money...boycott them!! We all must !
But ok that will never happen so...have a nice day 😄
And which car brands got cheaper? Dacia is still the best value for money brand.

The car is near perfect, my only gripes are it doesn't have a nice stereo option, and they reverted back to halogen lights for the high beam.
@@angelhayedos7778 DSP can only make up for so much, there's a point you need more drivers and subs.
They never had LEDs on the high beam, but there are homologated LED "bulbs" that you can install in your car, although the price for one LED is about 150 euros.
For $20000? They should sell everyone they make!
Is the hard plastic really bad and scratchy?
Good & cheap car as always. Nice 4 U 2 say 'Dacia' as it originally sound in romanian. 👍

Nice content! Your acceleration expectations are definitely a first world kinda problem though lol
cheers! Just observations on the German Autobahn hehe
I can always crank up music when I go to highway. Nice car!
New car price.Tiguan - 38000euro. Daster - 23000euro!
I agree, very long journeys I wouldnt do
they are better than in the previous gen though! especially the journey trim seats
@@autogefuehl Dear Thomas, thank you for your reply! One more question - previous gen didn't have backlight of the steering wheel buttons, and it was hard to find which one to push for cruise control at night. Are they lightened now?
Nope not
Dacia was never in the category of high end cars..Skoda wich was and is a great car is still much more expensive than a Duster ..take in account theyr litlle SUV ..its a matter of perception from the buyers..a simple but yeat an inteligent car or an inteligent car in the same class that's worth more becouse of gadgets ...i will buy the Duster as soon is in showrooms..one simple car..that is most simple buyers whant!!!
Where can you see the rpm's on the instruments ?
When you were going on the highway I saw only the speedometer but I know that the Duster also has a tachometer ...
It does, it is a bar from left to right, with a middle eco highlight from 2200 to 3200 rpm, or something like that.
@laurradu868 Really ? I magnified the display but just saw the speed and a yellow line.
But thanks for the quick response.
@mart_en there are three modes to see the display. One of it has the rpm.
@@laurradu868 So I guess he wasn't in that mode.
Hi Thomas, do you also support the idea that the Duster actually needs the more potent 1.3? Even better would be the 1.3 mild hybrid with 160hp, or the 270Nm topped off at the old 150hp. 4x4 cars need torque!
yes indeed it needs to be more powerful
@@autogefuehl we currently drive the latest Duster 2 1.3 150hp 4x4, we like it alot. You can kinda drive dynamically with it, even Chris Harris likes it 😊

This new gen of Dacia cars look decent, very unlike old gen.
dacia and duster in particular is only real competition against china moto-like production , and it's stands well, unfortunately german cars makers have noting to push chinese out of EU market , they all try to be in chinese and russians taste while chinese discovered niche in EU and push out of EU other manufacturers , so next time want spent money for chinese remember it = less job in germany, EU , don't buy chinese !
When im putting my audi a6 2017 in the wash tunnel at the end when its this wind turbine to dry the car ….the hood of the car its almost flying away 😂😂its shaking so much also
I really love the car but if the acceleration is borderline dangerous for Autobahn then I think I'll pass on this one.
If a political party would suggest that in Germany, it would boost the votes for the Nazi party even more because they then can say "look how the established parties want to control your life"
@@autogefuehl Wow
this got very expensive also
Yes..LEDs, touchscreens, digital clusters, clima, etc. etc. a lot o goodies compared to the first Duster. Just compare the price of a halogen headlight with a LED headlight. Multiply by 2. There you have around 1000Euro extra...
@@cristikki true but let's face it, the price increase is mostly for profit. Dacia is one of the brands (if not THE brand) with the highest profit margin per unit in Europe. They have more profit than Renault. So it could be cheaper, they just don't want to :)

Great news!
If you can not afford more, it looks like a nice car. Its a bit more expensive in Sweden, seems to start at 23k, which is a 1-2 year old Audi A3 low mileage.
Agree but you can do so much more with the Duster even 4x2 is a more capable car than the A3 if you want to go outside the tarmac. You can trash the car around and it will hold its own. It al depends on what you want to do with the car but offroad there is no comparison between the 2 even the 4x2 version of the Duster.
@@BaaLaaN I am just guessing now, but I would guess that its only a small part of the population that buys a SUV that goes offroad with it. And also, going offroad means you need better tires, than those that comes with the cars in many cases. Also nothing of the chassies of the suv's I have seen has looked like they would survive offroading. SUV is popular to make cause they do not have the same hard regulations as small cars have.

An affordable possibility to drive a SUV who has really offroad capabilities, but the windnoises are annoying.
It would fe fair to test that base version, if we are talking cheap. Dacia has upmarketed out of it.
C'mon Thomas, testing an off-road vehicle on a highway only?
No legal way for offroading in Germany except some distinctive offroad parks with obstacles. Most customers will not use this car offroad, and if offroad, they ll do some gravel road and not rock climbing. What I said though is that this car is highly offroad capable, maybe we ll get the chance to do that at some point
To small engine for the dimensions of the vehicle, not so good for the longevity.
