- Is the broken Mini Cooper S engine worse than I thought after I bought it with zero compression in one of the cylinders.

Love how you actually show what to do
That’s always the goal for me!
well done George on doing engine strip down i have watched them all. I just hope you remember where anything goes back , i wouldn't remember.
Appreciate you watching Mark!
Good effort. Twice as rewarding when you do it yourself and take your time.
Definitely - won’t be rushing this one!
Loving the content right now, i will be doing a full strip down and rebuild of an engine at my car maintenance course next week
Nice, good luck mate👊🏻
Keep at it brother, you will never regret it! UK Pete.
Thanks a lot for those 2 remaining bolts hint
Thanks for the videos I really enjoy watching your work on this engine
Appreciate it Michael!
Nice one George loving the progress of the strip down looking forward to more
Keep these coming!
Will do!
I hope you'll be following through with the machining and then rebuilding of this engine.
May not need any machining yet!
Great video George!🔥
Cheers as always mate!
Thank George, very interesting.
Thanks mate!
Thats great the engine is better than you thought ,its still a good amount of work. I am sure it was a relief we will keep watching.
Thanks man!
Thanks a lot!! Nice Video!!😊👍🏼
Thanks bud!
Well done. No mean feat for your first time 👍🏻
Thanks mate👌🏼
polish the crank then fit new shells both main and big end. do NOT use the same ones.
Lol I’d never use old bearings
Not a fan of the sandwich block….. reminds me of rovers…..arghhh!!😵💫
Haha!
great i wil do it too
Will you be sending the block off to be re bored and re faced?. Excellent video mate thanks for the upload.
I will be measuring the cylinders to see if they are worn past the tolerance, same with the block and head - checking for any warping
Btw: using a torque wrench like that has most likely stuffed up its calibration. It's a measuring instrument, not a brute force tool....
well done buddy
Thanks Gary!
I would replace all 16 valves since they are fairly cheap. I have seen cases people only changing the burnt or broken ones and down the road the other valves can fail.
No need to change the intake valves but I will be changing the exhaust valves👍🏻
@@GeorgeAusters good decision to replace the exhaust valves 👍
Loved it
Glad to hear Simon!
Keep up the great work 👍 also think of Thomas the Tank Engine and have a look at them pistons 😏
Haha yeah I noticed that👌🏻
🙌🏼
❤️
Rumour has it that once you strip one of these they never go back or run the same again,
And why would that be?😅
The mate had one, head went on it, had a total rebuild, never ran the same again,
@@jonpenningtton2176 Did he skim the head?
Yep, had a full port polish too.
Why did he skim the head?
I would check what cylinder liners you have before a rehone, as it's an aluminium block they are most likely nikasil coated and a rehome will destroy all the cylinders they have to be chemical stripped and recoated, all the best with rhe rebuild excellent vid 👍
Rehone or rebore you mean?
@@GeorgeAusters yeah sorry rebore, think nikasil u just use a light hone
Yeah this may only need a hone
Did you rev it too much without oil ?
:) :) :)
BimmerN53
Nope, wasn’t me👍🏻
If you need it going through, look up barum engines. We’re a ways away, but can always be crated over. Look up their channel, Barum Engines.
Appreciate it mate, going to try and do everything myself though!
N14 and N18 engine block are same ?
Pretty much
