Remember when people were freaking out over the Knights of Ren before The Force Awakens even came out? Took 3 movies to even see them and were never explained
things The Knights of Ren could have been: - the last students of Luke who chose the dark side - A mandalorian death squat - the final generation of Kamino clones that have been modified - the new order's inquisitors after the fall of the empire - force sensitive storm troopers what they ended up being - a bunch of guys that stand around
They could have been even Kylo's own disciples made in deliberate mockery of the New Jedi Order Kylo helped to massacre. Most importantly, they could be, well, actual plot-important characters whose interactions with Kylo could flesh him out more. I mean, they were Kylo's only friends for Force-knows how many years and they still are completely devoid from any meaningful interaction with him.
I watched these scenes at 0.25 speed and I found that when Ben was killing them, I counted that he killed Trudgen twice, once by cutting the back of his head and again by stabbing him through the chest, that just goes to show how poor choreography the sequels have
I’m sure he could have handled it if he directed Last Jedi and not just Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker but you know how Star Wars fans are right now. Completely unsatisfied with anything that isn’t Clone Wars or Mandalorian.
@Salmon Same could be said for a number of Star Wars groups with cool designs but little to no story involvement, I'm pretty sure they were set for future material.
I went through shot for shot of that scene and I think that there is a very slight possibility that between 1 and 3 of the knights could’ve lived. Trugden, Ushar, and Cardo definitely died. It looked like Vicrul was downed but the stab wound was more in his shoulder than his chest, still hard to tell, could’ve been his heart. I didn’t see any clear shots of Kuruk’s body, but with Ben’s opening slash jump he cuts somebody across their broadside, could’ve been Kursk but it looked more like Cardo, unclear what happened to him. And Aplek was just thrown off that ledge, but even without his axe to catch the ledge he is still force sensitive and it isn’t super clear the implications of falling down that crevice, and seeing as Ben was thrown down there and survived, i bet aplek could’ve as well. The point is probably mute and I doubt we’ll ever see them post TROS, but if they really wanted to, they could follow a story following at least Aplek if not the others post Exegol if Lucasfilm really wanted to. Edit: we see Kuruk’s limp body in the shot where he jumps over and kills Cardo, so he’s likely dead, but I didn’t see any obvious slash marks on his body. Vicrul’s body falls pretty limp it looks, but he kind of bounces off the ground so it’s possible he was just down but not dead. Probably just wishful thinking but one can hope :)
I was thinking this too. Trudgen got cut up pretty good if I remember, but Cardo was barely cut. Also one thing, it was Ushar who got stabbed at the end after Kylo jumped.
I watched Lord of the rings for the first time months after the rise of Skywalker came out. And the nazgul were everything I wanted the knights of ren to be. A constant threat.
Debatable. They got taken off the board halfway through Fellowship of The Ring. They show up in the last half hour of Two Towers. And only one had any substantial presence in Return of the King.

Plus they have more adrenaline than the Knights because their armor is designed (much like Darth Vader’s suit) to keep them in a constant state of pain.

I'll be absolutely honest - I didn't even know they were in this film. I only took notice right at the very end, but just assumed they were some royal guard of the emperor. It took me a good three days before I found out they were the Knights of Ren. It took me today to realise they actually appeared in more than just the one fight scene.
Knights of Ren: “Oh yeah! We so bad! We gonna kill your punk ass, Kylo!” *Kylo gets weapon* Knights of Ren: “Oh no, a lightsaber! Our one weakness!” ..... How did these guys wipe out Luke’s school of Jedi again?
BagelBramble Gee, I dunno, a vision in Force Awakens showing them killing Jedi? Or rather, Kylo shanking one from behind while they stood around him. But I kinda got the impression they were the helping. But y’know what? You’re right, I’m giving them too much credit, and I honestly don’t care enough to ask “So what the fuck did the Knights of a Ren contribute?” or “So who killed Luke’s students?”
The part where the stormtroopers are just casually talking about the knights of ren shows how much the first order isn’t threatening. No one in the empire said “cool its vader”. Everyone was silent and stood at attention whenever Vader entered. How are you supposed to be an evil, tyrannical force when not even your subordinates fear you
The first order/final order was nothing like the Empire. The Imperials had structure and order. That's why they survived for such a long time. In the First Order, even though they had better trained soldiers, you could tell there was a massive power struggle and they had no clear military direction. Their egos got the best of them in the end.

As flawed as the sequels are, gotta thank Adam Driver for putting enough work to make the Kylo Ren performance entertaining.
Even though nothing really exciting happened with them, the scene at 0:49 is so badass!

They could have been even Kylo's own disciples made in deliberate mockery of the New Jedi Order Kylo helped to massacre.
With this comment you probably put more effort into the knights of ren than JJ or anyone at Disney.

The Praetorian Guards would win. They seem to be more skilled and better trained than the Knights. Plus their armor is more durable than the clothes the Knights wear which look like common badass street wear (at least in the Star Wars universe). Also their weapons seem to be lightsaber like unlike the Knights weapons which appear to be normal badass weapons. The part where the stormtroopers are just casually talking about the knights of ren shows how much the first order isn’t threatening. No one in the empire said “cool its vader”. Everyone was silent and stood at attention whenever Vader entered. How are you supposed to be an evil, tyrannical force when not even your subordinates fear you
The first order seemed very much like a joke in all three movies but that’s a problem with the writers I think
The first order/final order was nothing like the Empire. The Imperials had structure and order. That's why they survived for such a long time. In the First Order, even though they had better trained soldiers, you could tell there was a massive power struggle and they had no clear military direction. Their egos got the best of them in the end.

I was thinking the same thing.
well I'm just guessing since they don't give us context what so ever that they are true sith and hey ya never know maybe palps ordered them to
