    When using the plastic edging, can you lay down sod flush to the paver pathway on top of the plastic edging? Will the grass have any difficulty growing?

      @WesternInterlock  Рік тому +1

      Generally, sod doesn't have too much difficulty growing on top of the plastic edge restraint. It is important to cover the edge restraint with something because the heat from the sunlight can cause it to warp. Just back fill with a little topsoil and plant your sod on top.

    Thank you for the video! Which of the methods would you recommend if I wanted to keep the option open to extend the paved area at some point in the future? Is this possible with the Concrete Bond Beam method? Or will I have to chisel away concrete in any case?

      If you want to leave the edge open for further expansion, the best option will be the plastic edge restraint with spikes. Any concrete will require chipping concrete or the sacrifice of the edge stones.

    Hi, may I ask I should compact the paver before or after if I do a concrete edge?

    • @WesternInterlock
      @WesternInterlock  5 місяців тому

      If you’re using Perma Edge it should be after the edge is troweled but still wet.

    What to do for existing paver edging - garden beds/house landscaping, and tree rings? The grass creeps in between the pavers and beyond. Seems like there isn't a good solution for this that goes underground and stops grass runners.

      Since most edge restraint options do not go to the top of the paving stone, masking tape adhered along the exposed edge has been used to dam up a polymeric sand during the activation process. Then simply removed when the sand has cured. The polymeric sands out there today greatly reduce weeds, moss, and even grass from growing into the joints and cracks. At the very least, it will be easier to remove them in the case they do grow because of the strength it provides as opposed to standard joint sand options.

      @@WesternInterlockyikes its expensive...you want to split a bucket, I dont need that much lol.

      @WesternInterlock  Рік тому +1

      If you add up plastic edge restraint and spikes, PermaEdge is comparable price wise. However, if you don't need a whole bucket, then plastic edge restraint might be a better choice for you. Just be sure to do it correctly by following instructions in this article and video.

    We use an aluminum paver edging. No expansion in the sun.

    My worker said that they are going to use concrete, but I am so worried the concrete will crack

    • @WesternInterlock
      @WesternInterlock  Рік тому +1

      Basic concrete will definitely work for edge restraint. It just won't have the lifespan of a product that was specifically engineered for the task. If they are going to use regular concrete, I would recommend that they use a bond beam as outlined here: westerninterlock.com/concrete-curbing-vs-bond-beam-for-pavers-whats-the-difference/

      Run a piece of rebar in your concrete

    • @WesternInterlock
      @WesternInterlock  Рік тому +1

      The goal of modified concrete edge restraint like PermaEdge is to have the strength of rebar without the expense and hassle.

    • @Thepriest39
      @Thepriest39 Рік тому

      Use pink bar for the rebar. Easy to cut. Just wear gloves as small fibers will get into your hand. Don’t ask how I know.

      @@WesternInterlock men I think is regular concrete

    • @WesternInterlock
      @WesternInterlock  5 місяців тому

      Aaah yes that’s common with regular concrete. Perma Paver Edging is a modified concrete that has polymers and fiber in it to make it 700% more flexible.
