    I'd really like to see more of your tips on the large pavers. I did my first "serious" paver laying of large ones today. I'm struggling to get them to lay evenly on the bedding without rocking, even though I've used two pipes & have leveled off the paver sand. I really wish I'd gone with slightly smaller more manageable sized pavers TBH. I'm learning along the way as I go, but often have to remove a paver several times to re-bed & level off the sand. I'll take a look at some more of your vids - you have a great way of explaining things & are a natural teacher. Thanks for the tips in this vid.

      Great question! Thin set lacks the flexibility and drainage support needed for outdoor paver overlays. For best practices and materials, check out this guide: westerninterlock.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/WI-Mortar-Set-Pavers-Whitepaper.pdf

    I already have a rectangular concrete foundation in my yard. Probably 6' x 4'. I'll check out your other videos, but what exactly is drainage. Is it wise to build the fire pit around the foundation or on it?

    • @WesternInterlock
      @WesternInterlock 27 днів тому

      Drainage is slope or pitch to accommodate water run off instead of pooling or saturation which can cause damage or issues through freeze thaw cycles or increase the rate of degradation. You can for sure build a fit pit on top of existing concrete so long as you consider that the fire pit may translate the slope of the slab and not be perfectly level. Build up of ash can also leak underneath the blocks with rainfall so you may want to put an insert to hold the wood and make the cleanup easier.

    Great video. Question; if I use just regular fine sand and then use a sealer on top of it (essentially sealing the sand in place), that should generally help keep it in place, and act as a weed deterrent, right?

    Could you lay direct on the concrete and use a glue for each paver or some type of grout/sand in the end to better lock them together without doing the sand step?

    • @WesternInterlock

    There might be a self-evident answer, but if you've just recently put your pavers in and find that there are a number of uneven areas, is there any reason why you can't reuse the existing sand, providing you don't mix it with the paver base below? I made the mistake of waiting too long to compact my pavers and it looks like some areas compacted themselves a little unevenly. Thanks in advance for any responses?

    • @WesternInterlock
