My all time favorite game show. Monty and Jay really made this show. I'm actually fixing up a 1976 Datsun 280z 2+2, so neat seeing these now classic appliances and cars.
After seeing this here episode, from now on whenever I have to make a deal, I will always remember to ask myself, "What would Uncle Miltie (Milton Berle) do?" Okay, not really, but it sounded good, did it?
I remember seeing episodes of the 1970's series in which, before the program started, Monty would be seen backstage, among the prizes which were offered to be won. During which season was that done?
I went to Google Maps & saw Ida Mae Guard's (former) apartment building. In 1975, a one bedroom apartment on the South Side probably went for around $250/mo.. Today that same apt. probably goes for $900/mo.. So, the $5,000 she won some 38 years ago paid toward a lot of rent for several months, even after taxes. Uncle Miltey was smart in accepting the money on Ida's behalf, 'cause like you said, she possibly had no room to put all of those physical prizes. I forgot she won the Big Deal!
There's nothing like the classic "Let's Make A Deal" that originally aired on ABC! Does anyone know the original air date of this episode, & if Ida Mae Guard is still living? Bravo, Monty Hall! R.I.P., Jay Stewart & Milton Berle.
This was from the nighttime LMAD that aired weekly in syndication; the initial air dates back then varied by market (some were even weeks or months behind as they used the “bicycling” method of distributing shows (satellite distribution would arrive in time for the 1984 version)).
R.I.P. Monty Hall, another link to my childhood...Thank you MatchGameProductions for uploading these truly classic episodes! Great fun!

R.I.P., Jay Stewart. It's been 25 years since you've left us. Rest well, Sir.
It's been 35 years now.
I was just 12 years old when that originally aired!

I Want to Find the Episode with Nipsey Russell
3:47 That Zonk was used in the Let's make a Deal DVD game hosted by who else but Monty Hall.
and no one took that one in this episode
Yes... it was a great show. They could bring it back but I think it wont have the charisma that Monty Hall had.
They have brought it back.
gsn BRING BACK LETS MAKE A DEAL !
Good job Milton Berle! Hopefully, Mrs. Ida Mae Guard had a good time with her big deal!
Do you also have the episodes with Ruth Buzzi and Red Buttons?

How long did they use that animated Monty Hall opening for?
I THINK for only that season. I LOVE that opening and the music.
@@manofmanyinterests me too it's unfortunate not that many episodes are out there with this opening

Sign of the times... they gave out her home address out on the air like it was no big deal (6:32). And back then, it wasn't.
