For most cars in the 1970's, air-conditioning was optional (not standard equipment). What they meant was that they were including air-conditioning with the car. Many of the companies that provided cars to Let's Make a Deal wanted the public to know the base price of the car (before adding options), particularly for the more economical cars like the Vega.
God, the Chevy Vega was a beautiful car. Too bad they didn't put the old Chevy II 153 engine or the Opel CIH 1900 in it and spend the money saved on engine development on rustproofing instead...
The man in the prison stripes with the Monte Carlo is a rarity...there were so few winners on that episode, he was able to trade a Zonk (a dancing bear) for the Big Deal (although that wasn't it)
the corvette convertible was the L48 350 the hotter L82 had hood emblems and the 454 big block had the hood badges as well, the color was called yellow metallic mine was just like that but now it is painted a teal blue.
There is one you have to include...circa 1975, when DEAL added a celebrity contestant to play for a home viewer. Red Buttons won a Malibu Classic wagon for a woman in Charlestown, MA (just outside Boston).
wow how times have changed, back then the station wagon was worth way more than Chevy SS, now the wagon is almost worthless and the SS is a valuable classic.
I cant find anywhere but there was a zonk one in the 80s it was a 71 chevelle convert all beat up and sprayed with spray cans... i was in hs and said .. i would want it if i won it ..
Now that's an Impala, not the putrid yawnmobile they've affixed the name to that they sell now. Shame on you, GM. What's up with the announcer and his rolled R's when he says "three?" lol, dork The Monte Carlos are my favourite but the Impalas and Caprices are pretty fantastic in their own right. GM was the design king of the '70's.
Vette is pretty sweet however I would take any of the wagons... sad that they were all used like trucks, and end reward was the crusher or demolition derby.
Look at that Carlo, the hood is half the length of the car ahahahahaha so cool
So cool, wish I had one of those Caprice convertibles today!
A brand new 73 Corvette Convertible and the factory couldn't even make sure the headlight doors went down all the way.
Miss the old Lets Make A Deal .
The City of Detroit was rolling back in the 1960’s and Early 1970’s
Amazing how they can portray..."the Chevrolet Vega"! To looks so glamorous😆😆😆😆😆😆
Chevrolet. Building a better way to see the USA. Now that's a retro thing that's still the best slogan more than 40 years later.
Car's today are Tupperware
72 Kingswood! Awesome!
Look At This Behind The Curtain!! A Chevy VEGA!!! ooh, I got zonked.
senorkaboom I have to agree, I would be disappointed that it wasn't an Impala.
senorkaboom
You got that right.
The Vega Cossworth was cool .
They make good race cars

Would LOVE to have that last station wagon as my daily driver right now!
My mom drove a Monte Carlo and loved it!
The only car I would've wanted was that Chevelle SS. Power and beauty rolled into one. Sigh, those were the days.
Old Skool Chevrolet never go out of style I want that 72 Chevelle SS 454 Big Block loaded
A new corvette for 6 grand
A beautiful Monte Carlo for 45 hundred. Doc Brown, where you at?
The audience was really screaming with fear when the opening curtain reveled the Vega.
What a line up!
Every time I see a Chevrolet I hear harp music
God, the Chevy Vega was a beautiful car. Too bad they didn't put the old Chevy II 153 engine or the Opel CIH 1900 in it and spend the money saved on engine development on rustproofing instead...
Back when nice cars were actually affordable
Those were REAL cars!
The man in the prison stripes with the Monte Carlo is a rarity...there were so few winners on that episode, he was able to trade a Zonk (a dancing bear) for the Big Deal (although that wasn't it)
Would love to have the Chevelle SS
Love that blue '73 convertible at
4:19.
the corvette convertible was the L48 350 the hotter L82 had hood emblems and the 454 big block had the hood badges as well, the color was called yellow metallic mine was just like that but now it is painted a teal blue.
My aunt’s first car was a blue chevy nova.
RIP Monty Hall
William Scott are you saying Monty took door number 1 ?
Wowww 💚 I had a Chevrolet Nova ...just like this one ...brings back memories ✨ ...carburetor, not to good though 😅
At 5:00 that Vega Wagon still would only get you $1200 lol
i'm going to assume the $6000 Corvette hadn't been driven into a lake.
CHEVELLE- $4,760.84 cents.!! mines worth at least $47,600.84 now..!!! now thats funny-
$9,980.00 in 1972 would be $59,861 today.
LOVE the video, LOVE LOVE the cars..what a great time for american cars, it was all downhill since then.
Whatever happened to the Vega and Nova?
The Vegas have returned to the earth from whence they came.
And while traffic sign lady drove home a Monte Carlo, the woman in the flowered dress got the Big Deal of a Cadillac Eldorado...
this is oddly hilarious....some nice classic rides tho

The Vega shoulda been a ZONK!
i don't remember ever seeing creamettes at the grocery store in the 70s.
What was so creamy about creamettes where they made with cream milk
LOL Vega. Congrats, you just won a seized engine and a pile of rust.
wow how times have changed, back then the station wagon was worth way more than Chevy SS, now the wagon is almost worthless and the SS is a valuable classic.

The rabbit and his Indian maiden won that Impala...
That canary was probably an in-line 6.

Fuck the car, let me take Carol for a ride.
The Vega would be considered a zonk, no??! :)
A real car
A Vega? He should've kept the pillow case.
Some nice cars on here, except the Vegas just as well should've been zonk prizes.
Building a better way to see the U.S.A
Laurie's harp...
A Vega ahahahahahahaha
that asian is (whas) hot
Vette is pretty sweet however I would take any of the wagons... sad that they were all used like trucks, and end reward was the crusher or demolition derby.
That Camaro is considered a compact?! LOL Cars in the 70's were so unnecessarily huge!
Nova was a hatchback?
Chevelle SUPERSPORT ...would be worth a lot of cashola in 2023 🚗 🚘
A Chevelle Is a sports car?
I'm actually happy for the people who didn't win the Vegas.
Scott
John Taberski
They are adding extras..air conditioning
I'd take the Creamettes macaroni over any of that GM union thug jangle junk.
BandyCurl94..
They're lucky they didn't win the Vega.
elton john why do you say that?
I feel so bad for all these people receiving these hunks of junk. It's like a punishment you have to pay income tax on.
1970s cars were not only ugly, they were poorly made!
