"Planck-length is the distance light travels in a Planck-time. Planck-time is the time light takes to travel a planck-length." *Makes perfect sense to me*
For anyone curious, Planck time & length are both defined based on fundamental universal constants: speed of light, the gravitational constant, and the Planck constant that relates the energy and frequency of a photon. Planck units are super interesting, as they’re a pure, natural unit system based on universal constants rather than arbitrary human objects or observations (and yes, SI units are also very arbitrary no matter what metric snobs say).
I think it would have been worth mentioning just how small the Planck length actually is. Our adventurers pressed their shrink button a total of only four times to get down to the size of an atomic nucleus. But they would have to press it SEVEN *MORE* TIMES in order to reach the Planck length! And even then, the Planck length would appear to be the length of a marble.

@@danielyuan9862 depends on the type of ant. You'd be surprised how big they can get within certain species. But yeah, for an average ant, a bee is pretty large, must be kind of scary.
Yeah, the crossover between different scales of things is what I have the hardest time imagining. Planets and stars are so much larger than us and we can see them as these distant points in the sky, or more locally, a massive thing we live on with distinct terrain features. Could a bacteria sized person see a bee thats nearby? Are there creatures that can look down and see the bacteria around them? Does a nearby bee look like a floating continent to a microorganism? All the visualisations I've seen tend to focus on all one scale, but its the interactions between tiny things and even tinier things that are the most interesting.

It's astonishing how such a small space ends up being the size of our solar system at the molecular level. Maybe we're at the microscopic level of a much larger world, but it's beyond our comprehension because of our relative size. I've always had this thought from time to time.
Let's see if I got this straight. So the reason why bumblebees "shouldn't be able to fly" is because someone forgot to factor in the increased density of air at their size?
Their wings just work differently to most other flying insects and bees are not the only ones using that flight method. Bees should be able to fly as they do, there is no "but they shouldn't" about it.
It's more like an entomologist said to Jerry Seinfeld that if a bee were the size of an airplane it couldn't fly and he went "so you're telling me to all known laws of aviation, bees shouldn't be able to fly??? 😲"
The air density is technically the same. What changes are relationships such as the proportion between weight and air resistance experienced by a given object.
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. It's wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway, because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

I was literally thinking the same thing, incredibly dutifully to imagine things on such small scales

Yeah that part was pretty hilarious lol
It's more like an entomologist said to Jerry Seinfeld that if a bee were the size of an airplane it couldn't fly and he went "so you're telling me to all known laws of aviation, bees shouldn't be able to fly??? 😲"
The air density is technically the same. What changes are relationships such as the proportion between weight and air resistance experienced by a given object.
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. It's wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway, because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

Really,ant man i remembered
I like coming back to videos such as this after a while, when I have learned a little bit more about the topic in school. Watching them again just give me a sense of how amazing these videos really are, simplified just enough to not overload you, and detailed enough to spark your interests.
As someone who plans on studying microbiology, this video was incredibly beautiful and really inspiring. Thank you Kurzgesagt!
Hey, i also plan to be Microbiologist
Good luck mate
I went to grad school for microbiology. I absolutely hated it and dropped out.
@@Lexivor Sorry for you
However, i don’t think i wanna stop because it’s my dream and it’s good to accomplish dreams
@@doyrte Just remember there is a difference between dreams and reality.
This is easily one of the most beautiful videos I've seen in my entire life and probably will. The way it truly changes your perspective of life, science and the way things work so interestingly at such a small level reignites the love and passion i hold for this subject.
You should watch the egg, if you haven’t already seen it. It’s less scientific than this video, but a really beautiful theory. Can’t recommend it enough.
That's why it is profound when you know backdoor, Many people have fallen for various kinds of scams and they end up feeling helpless, instances like this could be avoided or resolved. I have helped facilitate several resolutions myself.

when kurzgesagt narrator says "what are you doing, stop it" in an english accent he reminds me of my dad when he gets angry and it sparks something in me
It's truly amazing how animation can be so simple yet so complex and beautiful at the same time...
i know right
Thats the magic of kurgs
that's the magic of art direction
With every video, you people amp up both the storytelling *and* the animation quality of your content, it's insane how much you've grown from a tiny educational animation studio that did questionable and fairly low quality (Animation-wise at least), but charming videos with a ton of potential, to... This. Absolutely incredible work!
This channel somehow never fails to make me feel both incredibly small yet also large
guess you could say were mid
There is no big or small. Only your perspective of it.
@@dominickowalski9527 right!
I've always known Kurzgesagt videos are absolute jams but this video is especially well-done! Nice job, you completely blew my mind.
I found the video comparing star sizes absolutely beautiful, but this one is even more gorgeous.
Animations are really getting better episode after episode and the content is still awesome as always.
I have been watching your videos for 4 years now and I still cannot believe how much you guys improved with no reason to do it (not a single person thought that they were not good enough) you guys are actually inspiring with what you are able to do I am happy that you have reached the success that you have
Been watching you guys' videos since I was 17, I'm 26 now and I actually believe these videos contributed into the proud individual I am today.
I noticed that, in most episodes, the monkey in the intro is doing something different - like in this one, it's looking at some blades of grass, and I've seen it looking at a phone, a glass of milk, and a lot of other stuff (usually related to the video). I just wanted to say that this is an awesome detail, and it really highlights how much effort you put into your videos!
This is why the universe is just my favourite subject to talk about. It's so vast and unfathomable to think about
... pickle..
A ye universe... that's everything.
Seriously it's so much everything that it's even hard to think about it.

This was amazing. The way how you teach people while having a story behind it is just beautiful. It is kind of like a short film, this was truly a masterpiece!
This video is so incredibly crafted. Having watched Kurzgesagt for many years, this is the best one yet. Their animation keeps getting better and the music adds the perfect thing to this video.
And they never fail to put anthropomorphic birds into the videos lol
One of the best channel videos. That was an amazing trip
The animation just keeps getting smoother and more detailed, probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing channel on youtube.
This channel really is the best thing on the internet. I hope it never ceases to exist.
but what if we cease to exist?
@@janeappleseed2154 *vsauce theme intensifies*
You guys are one of the few channels on UA-cam that actually does quality content. Great job.
Bro there's a lot of youtubers who make quality content but we just don't know just like universe
(U know what I did there)
youtube tends to recommend a lot of crap because users watch a lot of crap
Religion for breakfast is really good content if your interested in the history of religions. Vsaus is still good if you like science stuff like this video 👍🏻
@@Rydonittelo thank you for recommending religion for breakfast. I’ve recently started learning about cultures to try to be as knowledgeable on it as I am with astronomy. Religion is a major part of those so
@@Rydonittelo vsauce is unwatchable for me. He expands a 5 sentence explanation into 20+ minute ramblings and portray simple stuff as superextraoutofordinary
David, you're a poet.
I have never seen a physicist describe the universe so eloquently and poetically as you do.
Thank you for these videos.
Keep them coming.
I hope you never stop Kurzgesagt. You keep getting better and more inspiring; this was really a tour de force and I am grateful for you letting me take part in it. I have bought some things from your shop and it's one of the things I am most happy to have supported through my measly purchases.
I don’t know why but these videos make me almost tear up sometimes thinking about how magical this world is
Me too bro, it's so wholesome
Im literally sobbing
It gives me existancial crisis but I can turn my face from not knowing and learning about it.
Thanks to God
