    Great Job Charlotte, David and Gareth!
    So sorry to see Ian is having to give up his farm and livelihood. To watch someone who is so passionate and involved in not just what they do, but also that of their community is heartbreaking. I wish him and his family all the very best in their future endeavours.

    Great video, I see what's happening here in the U.S. to farmers. Farmers and Truck Driver get overlooked by Government. Sad to see a farmer have to pack it in 😢

    I take my hat off to you Charlotte your a brave lady going into milking now, seeing it’s such a struggle at the moment. And I totally agree with Ian shaw RIP the small family farm, the milking herds that are disappearing here in west Cornwall is unbelievable.

    Another great episode, perfect level of serious news and comedy (Charlotte 😂) very sad but true about the losses of family run small farms, and shocking about the cost of wool- would have thought the eco warriors would have wanted top dollar for a sustainable form of clothing🤔🤷. Keep up the good work everyone, and thankyou to Every person in the farming communities for trying to keep us the general public going (without most even knowing what you do to achieve this)🎉

    One wonders what farmers who get out of the game, are going to do next, to generate an income. If you've been used to marching to the beat of your own drum since year dot, it's highly unlikely that a factory or office job is gonna tick many boxes.
    Not a great sign, where British agriculture, in general, is concerned.
    All that'll be left will be the very large units, who can only turn a profit because of economies of scale, but fewer farms will mean less of a market for machinery dealers, who by direct extrapolation, will ultimately start to feel the pinch at some point in the future also.

    What sainsbury's havent told you is they will give you a milk contract and pay 3p more per liter providing you give 10% of your land to trees or rewilding i was told .

      This is really where our (the ordinary people) future lies. Not with the big conglomerate farms who will, along with government, hold us to ransom. If only the family farms could have got together and sell their produce direct and the farming union be more interactive between local customers and the farms.

    Just happened to see priministers question time earlier, don’t know if anyone else saw it but labour seemed to be having a dig at Welsh farmers. I immediately thought of Gareth’s talk with the P. M. Thought it was disgusting of labour to act that way.

    Good on you Charlotte, I was wondering how long you would be serious and talk posh , then we came to the bits that were edited out, so based on the amount of time you spent on continuity versus the outtakes I would estimate that you can be serious about 25 percent of the time ( allowing of course that they didn’t edit the edited bits, which I suspect they did) . How did you like just being the talking head and letting other people be in charge, must have been hard!

Charlotte was made to be on screen and has the ability to make people laugh while getting across a serious message or dealing with difficult issues, sometimes people get lucky and find a diamond in the rough with Charlotte is not in the rough anymore she is a seasoned professional with a great on screen presence, you would do well to hold on to her! God that news section from David was depressing...
    I don't know how famers, both here and in Europe, manage to keep going with all the sh*t they have to deal with.
    FFS - People pay a fortune for a wool suit/dress but the farmer gets £0.87/kg for all that work!

    Need more of Ian's story, whats happening to his farm? He seems happy so why is it a problem. Charlotte is happy at the moment investing in her family farm but Ian gives her only 10 years is she making a big mistake? will be interesting to follow.

    • @FarmingBritainOfficial
      @FarmingBritainOfficial  10 місяців тому +2

      Hi Philip, Ian is now renting out his farm to a bigger player - We're often told that the options are... Go big or Go niche - Charlotte is going niche with a small Jersey herd and we'll be following her as she develops that. We're also uploading a podcast with her next week to explain a little more about how she and her family got to this point. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend, David

    • @johnwarwick4105
      @johnwarwick4105 10 місяців тому +2

      t’s what we do best 😂. But I actually think you need to look at what’s happening across Europe and the UK. Nobody is moaning about brexit despite our leaders managing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory because they never wanted brexit in the first place. If you are happy to eat imported food then sit back and enjoy. Watch the farmers turn their land over to other non agricultural uses and take the money to not farm the land.
