I do. Farmers need to support the people by refusing to sell out to schemes that ruin the soil for growing. We need real food that isn't poisoned! Veg & fruit grown, dairy products produced and livestock reared here on this island. Stop selling out to net zero scam policies!
Well, its a world wide situation, UK is just feeling it now, stuff like this happened in the States in 2008 or even before that we had something called FarmAid in the 90's that tried to help small Farms. It dosent matter who the President is or Prime minister is, they all refuse to stop the Money Printer and the rest of the world learned how to print money out of thin Air from the usa, seems UK residence are now realizing there government is doing the same thing. Just imagine if your gov, brought in tens of MILLIONS of cheap pay immigrant laborers to take the last of the farm Jobs. We have Mexico and central America sending us there criminals and Gangbangers up as cheap labor now, so I can hire a killer if needed, serious but true, No DNA matches in the states, thats how bad it could get, hold on over there.
In Norway farmers are trying to do this in a few ways. but the hoops put in place by the government you need to jump through to sell food is insane. i think if the government would just get out of the way they would need way less subsidy to keep farming them alive.
Glad to see you turning your attention on IHT for everybody, Peter. The nil rate band of £325,000 has been frozen since 2009. Any idea what inflation has been since 2009? Pretty soon every household in the country will be affected by IHT as property and asset prices keep going up due to inflation. It was originally meant to be a tax for the super wealthy, but now it is anachronistic and an evil attack on families.
i hope the farmers move to remove IHT for everyone. this is how they will get more support. they can be the spearhead of the movement and people can jump on
This pod cast I had the pleasure to listen to was really informative and I felt I resonated with Gareth wyn Jones ,The nation of Wales should have him as there ambassador,Diolch fawr ..
Heartbreaking and infuriating how they're treating our farmers. The bloody backbone of the world and treated like dogshit by the city leftists who think chickens are born in styrofoam packaging. I've even heard people ask where ham comes from, and saying that we don't need farmers because the grocery stores have food now. I kid you not. We need to teach kids about farming from a young age. We're too disconnected from reality and community.
You are right. People effectively think food is magic now. People switch off when you use terms like 'agricultural security'. The ignorance of many urban people cannot be overstated.
First time that You Tube has brought your channel up. I must say excellent guests listened to Steve Baker and Gareth Wynn Jones, I'll get some sleep and watch more of your broadcasts and even re watch the two mentioned.
Farmers should return to sowing good organic food and not so intensive. The march was taken over by Unions, Bowler Hat Farmer good interview. Set up farm shops and cut out supermarkets.
It’s a difficult transition to organic and farmers need financial stability to go through the process and confidence consumers will buy their organic produce. Also the skills that make a good farmer doesn’t necessarily mean they are any good at selling and marketing their produce direct to customers. They are very different skillsets. Some farmers can be good retailers, many will never be. That’s the problem.
I hope the farmers bring this government down, which they can. The British political system is not fit for purpose, and the timing to be in this position (with one of the the most embarrassingly backwards governments in the world) couldn't be worse. Reform the system, politics should be a meritocracy, and not a snake-pit of liars. The pledge should be a legally binding contract between the people and their elected officials, with failure to follow through coming under legal prosecution and even prison sentences.
As a long time watcher it’s been interesting to watch Peter go from willing statist to libertarian. Great guest. Farmers across the globe are getting squeezed from all sides. Thank you for bringing their plight into focus.
Yep and the farmers need to open their eyes to the blatant spaying / stratospheric aerosol injections in the sky! Collect rain water samples and get them analysed by someone you trust for chemical content.
i am most impressed by your guest farmer , only wish he wouldnt keep using the f w ord. i bought a farm in 1968 i was 21 and my wife 18 and we worked full time for over three years, made small profit but earned less than the driver who picked up the milk. ì found out that you dont farm to make money, you have to make money to farm. wee sold up and yes as we sold the farm we decided to make money to farm again..iworked my tits off, ran a small A I company and made a small fortunr for them set up my own A I company, and yes we were ablle to buy a farm , we made money tofarm, but now the government of envy now wants that back again in Inheritent tax. how many of this Labour party have run a successfulĺ business less than a very small percent.
I’m all for the farmers but many people like me, worked out nuts off, took massive risks on re mortgage loans to give our children a better life- why should we be hit by 40% ( basically half our earnings) - I’d gladly pay 20%. IHT should be scrapped for everyone
Don't simply retire from something; have something to retire to. Start saving, keep saving, and stick to investments. Everyone should have BTC in their portfolio
In New Zealand we have a thing called ‘home kill’. We know farmers and can order a lamb or beefie or go halves with a friend to fill the freezer 👍. (Rural NZ anyway). It’s not affordable to buy NZ lamb or beef from a supermarket as it’s so heavily subsidised for overseas markets like the UK. Also, cheese, milk and the like are also ridiculously expensive here for the same reason. NZ dairy products are so cheap in the UK compared to here. I lived in the UK for 12 years and it always pissed me off.
We live in Devon and have done this a few times. Buy from our local farmers after they have taken their animals to the abattoir. Best meat and buying a half a lamb, or a quarter a venison lasts us ages
"food shortages are just around the corner"... Yes.. Unfortunatly he is right. Government of Denmark has decided to restore 30% of their agriculture land to "nature". Farmers in more or less every western country have severe economic struggle.
A further point that Ian on talk tv bought up from a caller... you can give your property to your relative as long as you live for 7 years. They sting you with this as well, because that relative you have given your property to has to receive from you full rental price for the property they are still living in.
Its important wd don't turn to anarchy. Protest for a change of government but remain supporters of democracy. I was brought up in West Africa where corruption and nepotism continue to plunder recources and make funding of hospitals and infrastructure etc extremely inneffective and in many cases vurtually non-existant. We need to continue to support democracy and lobby and fight for a change of the current regime to one that will show respect to the people who voted for them. We need a government who will impliment a switch from rule by unaccountable autocrats, will reform of our legal system and will offer a patriotic replacement of politicians who wish us harm rather than good and poverty rather than prosperity. We need a government that can work out a way to make large cuts to unaffordable spending and whose aim is to get their hands out of peoples pockets taking money that doesn't belong to them.
strike for a month, the supermarkets would buy from abroad and pass the price on to customers, then the farmers off under market prices and break supermarket control
The supermarkets would sue farmers for breech of contract and bankrupt them, just because they can. Imports are not necessarily more expensive because a lot of places have poorer ecological regulation so can undercut British farmers anyway.
Currency Debasement has affected everyone and all sectors of hard working peoples lives. We have been getting boiled slowly like frogs. Thanks to Bitcoin, i have an exit strategy to leave my terrible job in the NHS. I just feel sorry for everyone who has not learnt about bitcoin and banks and governments debasing currency and stealing from all of us.😮
I was talking to an organic dairy farmer asked to buy raw milk, they said their milk had to be pasteurised because there was TB in their herd. Was speaking to another dairy farmer who said he took one of his cows to abattoir, apparently the cow tested positive for TB (despite all tests being negative before). The powers that be came to the farm, said 1\2 the herd tested positive and had to be slaughtered, despite testing positive that meat was put in the food chain. Question... What on earth is going on? That second farmer bought new cows which didn't yield as much milk as his existing cows, so his income is reduced considerably. How can one farmer sell milk from cows with TB and another have his herd slaughtered for having TB? How are the tests done? by PCR? if so are the tests results as fake as the plandemic tests? Is there a deliberate agenda to destroy some dairy herds? With regards to taxes, Operation Gladio must cost a fortune to maintain the British constructed Muslim brotherhood, foreign aid (money laundering) £530m to foreign farmers, £7m a day to pay for illegal immigrants in this country, £3b a year to Ukraine commitment. The people behind our government are rinsing money from the people of Britain, it's a criminal cartel imo, which needs to be stopped some how... We are paying far too much tax...
The slurry,I'd of thought yes not a good idea near rivers, but even if it did go into the water,on a small scale . It's sht after all ,not human . There shouldn't be anything in the sht to pollute the water surly. Unless their feeding chicken pellets to cows,I can't see the problem. Especially if there's no water nearby the farm.
It’s really heartbreaking to see how inflation and recession impact low-income families. The cost of living keeps rising, and many struggle just to meet basic needs, let alone save or invest. It’s a reminder of the importance of finding ways to create financial opportunities. You've helped me a lot sir Brian! Imagine i invested $50,000 and received $190,500 after 14 days
In The Farmer's Weekly, their annual sentiment poll in 2022 revealed that 72% of farmers were Tory voters, and less than 21% were considering other parties ! And this at the time of Lizz Truss' Prime Ministership! I think that tells you all you ever need to know about farmers.

They pay taxes anyway! It’s called corporation tax. How about when a CEO of a company changes they pay IHT on the value of the whole company? Farms are kept in families as they know how to run them. Idiot.
Don’t think you’ve understood the issue David Jones. Where is gareth meant to get the six figure sum to buy ‘his’ property? He will be forced to sell, as would many others.

"Just for the super wealthy" has been the lie behind taxes for centuries.
It's the wealthy that will be buying all the farms now.
And that's progress?

Amen! Get their mits out of the pockets, it’s such an overreach, farmers are like the heartbeat of everything! Should be royalty 👨🌾
