As I’ve been watching these videos I found myself repeatedly thinking what a miraculous thing fire is. And how we humans are the only animals who use it to our advantage. Imagine this experience without fire. Really appreciate the beautiful rawness of what you’re doing. Thanks for showing us.
Man, I’d almost forgotten the relieving feeling of finally getting that fire started, eating a fresh piece of meat, and going to bed after a long day’s hard work. Thanks for reminding me.
A real pleasure to watch and learn some valuable lessons at the same time. Filming the sunlight through the snowy woods is beautiful to see and makes your video much more than just an excellent survival lesson.👍
Well done showing cold weather survival skills in the winter forest with minimum equipment. I see nothing wrong with enjoying a chunk of beef you packed in or a chunk of deer meat that could have been harvested by hunting! 🥩👍
Man, I can only imagine how hard this night had to be for you.... probably almost no sleep and constant work to keep the fire on... you must heve been really exhusted in the morning!
Enjoyable, invigorating and challenging. In the years that I have been watching you, I have picked up tricks that now I use when I go camping. Of course my camping is not as difficult as yours. I have also become more in awe and respectful of Mother Nature and for that I thank you.
It's hard getting old... when far in the deep of the woods you realize that you forget your bag pack , and that you only have a knife and a camera ! Then you have to be ingenious... Thank you brother, I follow each of your immersions , I feel home in Sweden woods . Tomorrow i will go leaving in the forest for a couple of days... And i will try not to forget my bag too..!
Interesting learning about the spruce boughs. It makes sense, but I had never thought about it. Thank you for sharing your time out. I learned something new today and I appreciate it!
This was a great episode Swed. Excellent effort to minimise your footprint even when you knew it would compromise your comfort. I hope viewers will read the the notes and take them to heart. Also, that little Garberg really paid for itself on this trip.
Oh boy, I loved this one. They're all good, but I loved the simplicity of relying on just the knife and whatever would fit in the tiny tin. Also... maybe don't slide down snow covered hillsides a month after a bad ankle sprain. You're making me nervous man!
Good old Swede-woods. This is for real man, I am constantly amazed at how simple things can save your life if you get stuck in nature...fleeing "something".
Great video as always, the forest looks so clean, well defined with a coating of winter snow on it. As soon as you started chopping thru the ice the two is one, one is none principle came to my mind. Thank you from Ohio USA.
Thank you so much for sharing your videos with us You always make amazing videos I have learned from you that whole chicken can be cooked on open fire and same way with a roast and make pizza and hot dog buns and hamburger buns What beautiful nature surrounds you right now thank you again ❤❤
Thats a winter wonderland you have there, MAGICAL ❄❤ Your shelter was well made and well covered, perfectly protected from the weather, have a wonderful weekend and stay safe ❤🕊🙏
Fortunately, there was not a lot of blowing snow. Swedwoods DID do a fine job of collecting enough boughs to make a real back shelter. With more time and daylight, he could have collected more boughs and wood to build more protection.
I know it's not the same but when eat my soup at 2 am I feel relaxed watching this videos thank you I survived the night... at 75 who would not want to live free! Awesome!
Kul video. Man behöver inte mer än en eld och fin köttbit, själen mår bra och kroppen mår bra. Tack för ditt filmande och för att du delade med oss på YT. Tumme upp från Göteborg!
That light Mora knife and some knowledge did a lot for your survival. It even made ice fishing possible, although you don't seem to catch many fish on your camping trips. It was a good thing you brought some steak!
Wow that looked difficult and no doubt that was a long long night. Only for people who know what they are doing, thanks for the education and the great films.
My wife and me like to watch your videos. You are always calm. One of your first videos we saw was one with your seat backpack. That’s why we call you „The sitting camper“. Also my wife presumes that you are currently or have been a teacher in the post because you are always eager to describe what you are doing or the historical background of dishes.
v cool. ty. nice to go along with your experience after our 40C today, so hot we can only dream of snow. bird sound was great, never mind the haters, they don't exist
So here is a book for you. That is some knife you have, sure keeps an edge even after chopping ice, as you know, ice is very hard on sharp edges, the scenery is magnificent after a snow and horror frost, You usually build smart fires like the one you made, so many people start with the small stuff and wait for it to grow painstakingly slow so they can put bigger stuff on it. I have always went top down like yours. You tend to go the other way when you have one of your special meals to prepare. Pretty tuff eating a beautifully prepared steak rare to med rare with no seasoning but, when the restaurant is not around the corner and it is either the steak or nothing, and the steak tastes wonderful. I think I have seen you catch a fish maybe once or twice, so did not hold my breath to see one, hats off for your perseverance, I cannot catch a fish if it jumped out of the water to me, Thank you for the memories I can no longer live due to age and physical conditions. Your videos bring back many great memories of my time in the north when we did not have any of the modern things for survival we have now, Thanks again
Hi Swede👍👍 Well filmed and presented my friend. I tried this "survival" thing a couple times earlier in my outdoors quest, as you mention not a pleasant experience. Of course my attempts were in the high desert of the southwest US, not a Scandinavian winter forest but the results were alarming. So I just honed my outdoor skills as best I could but hope I'm never in a real survival scenario, it might turn out badly for me. Thanks for the work bringing me along, much appreciated.
Thanks for the video! Just a tid bit, maybe bring a small straw with you so you don't have to hold the aluminum foil you can just use the straw. Light and compact. Be safe!
Important teaching video AND accompanying video notes - THANK YOU for taking the time & effort & for sharing your skills, knowledge & learning. HUGE RESPECT for having the man-danglies to do a snow survival night. Suggestion - secure the firesteel to the belt knife or belt paracord & that frees up space in the tin for eg a signal mirror or something else of value.
