Kudos for limiting yourself to mostly new books...when I moved into my dorm last year I had an entire suitcase with Harry Potter, and Cassandra Clare on top of my duffel of unreads.
Ravenclaw here...well according to Pottermore unless I am taking a Buzzfeed Quiz then it always comes out as Hufflepuff lol. The Night Circus is sooo lovely and dark and beautiful I just adored it! I am glad to see someone else loves it as much as I do!
I read Rebecca a few years ago for school and really loved it! I definitely would say it's not a Jane Eyre retelling, but it does have the same gothic feel
The Name of the Wind is definitely my favourite fantasy book 😍 i'm currently rereading / relistening to it and it's just SO GOOD 🖤 can't wait to see what you think about it!
I don't know why but all of your choices seem so perfect. A mixture of books you haven't and have read with all different genres. I'm glad things are going good in your new place so far!! ❤
The Name of the Wind is so amazing! You really shouldn't be scared bc of the lenght, I flew through all of the 3 books (the second one is split up in Germany).
If you love the Gothic genre you should check out Carlos Ruiz Zafon! His most famous book is The Shadow of the Wind, but I personally prefer his lesser known (in America at least, I gather that it's a cult favorite in Spain?) Marina to the point where it's my current favorite non classic of the year! It's like Edgar Allen Poe meets Frankenstein, the Phantom of the Opera, and Bioshock all into one really wonderful book. It made me really want to go to Barcelona, too.
Laura Wachter Marina was such an interesting read! I really enjoyed it when I read it about two years ago, but the Shadow of the Wind is my favorite of the two. I'm excited to read more by the author when I get the chance. Any recommendation on which of Zafon's books to read next?
melodylake18 try his middle grade Prince of Mist trilogy or Angel's Game, the sequel to The Shadow of the Wind. Normally, I'm not much for middle grade speculative fiction, but I really enjoyed it.
YES Name of The Wind, easily one of my favorite book of all time. Wish I would've read it in the fall/winter though ! But I might re read it this year so that I can read the other books hehe
The Name of the Wind is so great. It's beautifully written, but don't expect a fast moving plot. I really suggest reading it when you have time to savour the language. I think of it as a reading experience.
I wish you good experiences at college! I'm going to be starting my last semester at uni and I can still remember the beginning of my first semester and how nervous I was. They Both Die at the End and Whichwood both sound really interesting and I'll be adding them to my to-read list!
I just wanted to say that I love your channel. I don't know, your videos just have a really nice vibe about them. And you are so incredibly pretty. Thank you for your amazing content!
I read night film last year around Halloween, and it was the perfect book for those stormy days. I absolutely loved it. I thought it was so well written and so interesting, especially with the news articles, photographs and other extra content you get. I think I might read it again soon. It really blew me away, and I've been looking for similar books ever since... Without much luck, sadly.
Name of the Wind is my favorite book of all time! It's the one book I always recommend to everyone. It is long and a bit intimidating, but once you get into it it's impossible to put down and the pages just fly. If you love high fantasy you will absolutely LOVE it! I'm very excited for you to read it!
The Name of the Wind is a family favorite!! My dad, my brother and I have read it (several times, except for my bro, he's not into rereading) and I love it, I've read it at least once every two years since I was about 9 or 10, I believe? I hope you enjoy it!
Hannah wonderful video as usual! I wanted to say good luck for your university adventure, you're a wonderful person, you're super sweet and you always make my day better; surely you'll make wonderful friends 💖 wish you all the best!
I'd definitely love to see more college videos! Especially ones about your transfer, if possible because I have to do the same thing for next school year and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing.
Oh my gosh what a coincidence! I'm taking writing convention and I met Patrick Rothfuss in person! He's an awesome guy and I love listening to him speak!
Every Heart a Doorway!! It also just won a Hugo, if that helps sway your decision. I'm also looking forward to your thoughts on Whichwood, because I adored Furthermore.
Watching your videos makes me want to get into reading again! It's just always a bit intimidating when your confronted with such a large selection to choose from lol
I’ve started reading so many new books because of your channel, starting with the infernal devices series (it’s so amazing omg!!) I have so much to read now, my reading slump is gone ❤️❤️😭 what I’m saying is, thank you so much
Rebecca is one of my favorite books, it's because the narrator means so much to me and I first read the story in a very important time of my life. The book means a lot to me but I'm not sure if everyone can enjoy Rebecca. I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion :)
I'm not sure whether Rebecca is inspired by Jane Eyre, but it definitely gave me Jane Eyre vibes! & im super excited for you to read the name of the wind!!
I hope you have an amazing time at your new school! I transferred schools last year and it can be scary at first but everything always has a way of falling into place! Good luck:)
I am going to begin college next year and I'm very nervous about it so I was hoping I could get more college info about perhaps your first experiences and what to expect. It would put me at a lot of ease
Can you make some recommendations for people who loved A Darker Shade of Magic? I've read this first book and I'm in love and when I finish the trilogy I won't know what to do!
I'm also leaving for college soon but because I really won't have space in my room and I'm in a bit of a reading slump I just brought The Hate U Give with me since I think it'll be a pretty relevant read and I hope it helps me to get back into reading!! Hope you have a great fall semester!
Yes, i have the same reason with The Name of the Wind, huge, super hyped and the release date of the next book is kept pushing back. So, yeah hopefully we can read this by this year. And watching your video really makes me miss my uni. I wish you all the best!
This is a great selection!! I hope you enjoy all of these and good luck with the moving process! I hope everything goes well and that you have a fantastic time in college!💙
I'd bring my favorites too. I liked Jane Steele, though not as much as Jane Eyre. That edition of Rebecca is gorgeous! Hoping to read that next year. Sounds like a great list to take with you. Best of luck in college!
I need to re-read The Night Circus as well! It became an immediate favorite for me when I read it in 2013. I'm really bad about re-reading books, but I've been doing it quite a bit this year! Also, you will love NotW.
Hopefully, you will not be too anxious during your adjustment. Things are always scary at first with those changes, but you seem so sweet that I'm sure you'll adjust fine! I hope all goes well!!
Did you say 20th Anniversary for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone?!?! I feel old...I first read this in 1998 when I was 8 years old. My teacher pointed it out to us at the scholastic book fair at school, and none of us had heard about Harry Potter yet.
Every Heart A Doorway and then When The Moon Was Ours. I am reading Every Heart A Doorway on audio book and I REALLY want a physical copy for myself. I am enjoying it quite a lot and cannot wait to see how it plays out. The ACE rep is fantastic.
the night film is a great book. the ending!!! and yes, you MUST read the name of the wind. it's brilliant and the writing is gorgeous. it's so warm and campfire-y and i want to swim in pat's writing.
Rebecca is so good! The book started out a bit slow but the second part is really exciting. Daphne du Maurier was really good with the suspence and mistery. I've also seen the musical and the movie Rebecca and couldn't recommend more! :)
I need to read Night Film too and I agree it seems like the perfect season to pick it up. Hope college treats you well. We don't talk much anymore but just wanted to say hi :)
I'm so glad that I discovered your channel!! I love your videos and you are such a great, down-to-earth, and inspiring person to watch. I recently read an ARC of Daughter of the Burning City and it was phenomenal! The world-building is a little confusing at first, but once you get it, you can truly understand the setting. The premise of the story was also fascinating, and it was an overall riveting book with lots of magic, mystery, suspense, and some pretty CRAZY plot twists. I highly recommend it!
Also, if you said you weren't bringing The Night Circus I think we'd have to check if you were dying. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on it and read it. My best friend is buying it for me and reading it first then sending it to me. I am soooooo excited !!
Where my Ravenclaw fam at?
Edit: hah I got 99 problems
Edit: who is that god forsaken person who ruined my song?
French Lafayette right here also see your part of the Hamilton fandom
Amelia Simmons moi is part of all fandoms😉 (but mostly Hamilton)
I am but this comment is so irrelevant
Oh My Harry Potter is never irrelevant
Right here (doing homework)!
I am totally here for this. Perfect as always, brilliant.
How did you decide which copy of the Night Circus to take with you?
Please film a video on your favorite darker themed books, thriller, crime anything along those lines!
I was named after the book Rebecca after my mom read it 😂🔥It's good xx
Rebecca Star that's gonna be me as a mom😂
Readingxpress Yeah I'll probably name my child after a book character like my mom lol 😂subscribed to your channel
I was as well!
If I have a boy I'm naming him kaz brekker😂
I’m definitely naming my kids after book characters
A CANON ASEXUAL CHARACTER AAAAH (i would probably sell my soul for more ace representation honestly)
Me too

When the Moon Was Ours looks really good! I also really like your lipstick. Good luck in college!
You are the reason I started The Night Circus and it’s so magical!
I read Rebecca a few years ago for school and really loved it! I definitely would say it's not a Jane Eyre retelling, but it does have the same gothic feel
Good luck in College!! I hope it all goes smoothly for you and have a great time!
When the Moon Was Ours sounds so good! Just added it to my wish list.
Yes Hp and the night circus are amazing!!
Jane Steele sounds so good! I didn't know it was about a serial killer and now I NEED IT
the night film is so intriguing and dark in a magical way, love it, and always will.
The Name of the Wind is definitely my favourite fantasy book 😍 i'm currently rereading / relistening to it and it's just SO GOOD 🖤 can't wait to see what you think about it!
Probably going to read Caraval, Daughter of the Burning City, and The Night Circus one after the other! :)
Heyyyitsmadailein i read caraval and it was amazing
Caraval and The Night Circus are so good! Love those books

A Clockwork Reader then definitely pick up Marina. It's so wonderful and underrated.
melodylake18 try his middle grade Prince of Mist trilogy or Angel's Game, the sequel to The Shadow of the Wind. Normally, I'm not much for middle grade speculative fiction, but I really enjoyed it.
Marina is absolutely amazing
YES Name of The Wind, easily one of my favorite book of all time. Wish I would've read it in the fall/winter though ! But I might re read it this year so that I can read the other books hehe
The Name of the Wind 💙
The Name of the Wind is so great. It's beautifully written, but don't expect a fast moving plot. I really suggest reading it when you have time to savour the language. I think of it as a reading experience.
I am in the same boat right now. I have to narrow down my books to my TBR list. It's so hard!!
This was so hard for me too!!! I ended up bringing crooked kingdom, our dark duet, and the lunar chronicles!
We must have the same mind, I would do almost exactly that.
I wish you good experiences at college! I'm going to be starting my last semester at uni and I can still remember the beginning of my first semester and how nervous I was. They Both Die at the End and Whichwood both sound really interesting and I'll be adding them to my to-read list!

The Name of the Wind is AMAZING and one of my favourite books of all timeeee! You'll love it
Not surprised to see The Night Circus mentioned ;) I actually just finished it for the first time a few days ago and I really enjoyed it!
This is so relatable because I'm moving out to start college tomorrow! So excited and anxious! Books are definitely a comfort during changing times.
The Name of the Wind is a family favorite!! My dad, my brother and I have read it (several times, except for my bro, he's not into rereading) and I love it, I've read it at least once every two years since I was about 9 or 10, I believe? I hope you enjoy it!
My favorite book is the Night Circus as well! I've never felt a story become so alive like the Night Circus does!
Rebecca is one of my favourite books of all time and I'm sooo excited to see what your thoughts are!
Hannah wonderful video as usual! I wanted to say good luck for your university adventure, you're a wonderful person, you're super sweet and you always make my day better; surely you'll make wonderful friends 💖 wish you all the best!
peeerfect inspiration for me - i'll move to college soon too and have to think of the books i'll bring :D :D
When I'm about to go to college the hardest part would probably be choosing what books to bring.
Take fangirl with you and read it while starting college! 😊

When I read night film I had nightmares for a while, I loved it!!
The Humans is fantastic! It's a really quick read, but surprisingly deep while keeping a somewhat light tone. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I am so impressed at the number of books you are brining! I'm bringing like 30!
I really love your voice Hannah.
I'm not sure whether Rebecca is inspired by Jane Eyre, but it definitely gave me Jane Eyre vibes! & im super excited for you to read the name of the wind!!
Would love to see more college videos as I'm starting college next week myself and am very anxious!

That's what makes me excited for Whichwood. There isn't a lot of Persian representation out there, especially not in fantasy.
Matt Haig is one of my all time favorite authors! You'll love The Humans, it's funny and insightful.
I loved seeing what books you are bringing!! I really enjoy these types of videos haha and I'm so excited for your College Q&A👌🏼
Since you really enjoy magical realism, you should check out Haruki Murakami, specifically Kafka On the Shore or 1Q84!
the night film is a great book. the ending!!! and yes, you MUST read the name of the wind. it's brilliant and the writing is gorgeous. it's so warm and campfire-y and i want to swim in pat's writing.

All of the books look wonderful. I would read each one of them 😄. (I only read Harry Potter). Good luck with everything!
Good lick at college this year!!

I'm listening to Name of the Wind on Audio right now, it's really good so far. I think you'll really enjoy it! Hope the move went well!
