Just would like to correct a few misleading things in the video. The 350 in 1987+ was tbi fuel injection. Though the wood trim did exist in k5 blazers, they didn't come like that after the early 80s. All k5 blazers are two door. Silverado was the name for the highest trim package of the vehicle.
You should see the gauges in the military issue Blazers, or a base-base Jeep Cherokee XJ or Wrangler TJ. You got a big speedometer and a big fuel gauge and a few small idiot lights for everything else, because that's all the bean-counters decided you needed.
Freaking beautiful K5 man. I've been wanting to buy one a go through literally every last bolt and restore re-fab or re-new everything. That is exactly what my end goal looks like. I freaking love the color pant job too it matches the truck so well
This is the blazer most people remember. The only thing the new one shares with this is its name. Edit: when you mentioned the new blazer with its three cylinder engine, you were actually thinking of the trailblazer, which is a completely different model. And at least two sizes down from the blazer. The blazer has a four cylinder engine on base models with an optional V6 engine.
I driving both 78' and 2021 blazers, and the 21' is more closely related to the Camaro than it is the Blazer. They are nice cars I just don't think it deserves the Blazer badge.
Good to see a K5 Blazer. As a GM guy from that era let me help with a couple things. Adding fuel injection injection by itself was not an upgrade to this Blazer. They were throttle body injected 350 engines since 1987. Also the horrible wood grain was aftermarket, and probably installed by the same pimp outfit that did the sunroof. Silverado was also not the name for the cap, it was a trim package before GM started using it as a model name. GM’s trim levels for their trucks had the Silverado at the top with Scottsdale just below it. Your review was good and most enjoyable. Thank you, but I just wanted to clarify a few minor details.
Bought a 1989 Blazer new and ran it until 2001 when I sold it with 235,000 miles (same engine one tranny replacement) for a Yukon. Great truck. GM blew it not building them again with more modern guts like ABS, but it would never be a simple as these with emissions garbage to contend with.
I have a 1981 k10 SILVERADO that still runs like a top. Silverado has been the best, highest level trim for Chevy. Silverado has been out for decades. Been out since late 70s. Maybe earlier so don’t quote me. But been out a long time before 1990.
Just saying the 1990 chevy blazer 350 had Throttle Body Fuel Injection and it had it since 1987 so the engine didnt gain fuel Injection but it probably has better fuel injection and 140 more hps so that's nice!
The 1990 had different rearview mirrors than this blazer. Unless that was part of a trim package with the power ones? I think I actually prefer these style of mirriors to the black plastic ones.
I don't think you can legally remove the roof on this particular model--the seatbelts for the rear seats are mounted to it! The same thing would happen to the Bronco 2 years later.
the owner of this k5 has had 13 plus transmissions and put in a ram jet crate engine and the 4x4 doesn't work cuz the front and rear diffs have different gear ratios. I really don't know why he hasn't put a manual or a stronger auto tranny into it after the tranny went out the 2nd time! Plus why not get the 4X4 working again its not that expensive to upgrade the gears in the diff! maybe a couple of hundred and then you have a bad ass swapped blazer with out the shitty ass 700R4 glass gearbox! its the biggest pos tranny that gm ever made! hell id swap in a turbo 350 and loose overdrive over that pile of shit! 13 transmissions in 187k miles isn't even 20k miles per gear box! I bet anything he put a high stall torque converter in it and the extra power and stress keeps tag teaming his asshole everytime he has to fix it!
That's weird that your k5 blazer review is of the same modified one that Regular Car Reviews did a video on.
Yea it’s the same one owned by the the same person, this K5 is becoming more and more famous.

I am amazed that it is still running after 31 years. Good review; thanks.
I'm not. All of ours still run great. Our 90 blazer has 450k Miles my sister's has 370k miles and my grandpa's has 88k
I love how it still has the old-school Illinois plates
So awesome you got to drive Dominick’s K5!

How much are these

13 transmissions? what a pile of crap! I love my chevy. these things don't die.
700R4 is to blame.
Now that's a real Blazer blazers right now is just SUV Camaro look things.
My brother has a 1989 Silverado
BTW fuel injection was factory on this blazer so.....and I've got 310 hp out of a carbed 350 and starts better and gets better than fuel injection so
