    We belong holdin' on...
Power to the peaceful. She walks in astonishing health, a little bit on edge. C'mon, my foreigner. I'm in love with the thought of sparks that set the prairie ablaze - just a phase, my beautiful fighting girl. Cutie, it's worth the trouble to disappear a thousand years. [We belong dutifully standing side by side, welcoming the morning and the night. My run is over. A world on shoulders. (Phoebe.)]
Let a hundred flowers blossom. Don't attempt to save them. Let x be a sovereign. We can all define it.
    ===
... obviously meant for Halloween, but I've had less and less time lately. It's not really about Halloween anyways. It's about being sent to the moon or, like, Siberia.

God I wish he would come back
I found his music years ago and I still listen to it very often and the more I listen the more I think about where he must be now, what he's doing, if he ever did anything more with his music.... it just makes me mind wonder. I want to know who the man behind all this amazing music is and why he chose to give this to us and making such amazing videos despite having little recognition. It really shows how dedicated and caring he was, how much he cared. If I could meet him in person I'd be an honor. Maybe someday we'll learn...?

Actually, he has come back in a way under a new name, using the name Captive Unicorns. He's so far put out two new songs, Scrimshawl and Moonsnow, one a month, since the start of the year.

I just learned this--at least one of the references is "let a hundred flowers blossom," which was a phrase used by Mao to briefly encourage freedom of expression before he reversed and cracked down on it again.

There's a couple I recognize. "I'm in love with the thought of sparks that set the prairie ablaze." Likely refers to Mao's quote that "a single spark can start a prairie fire," a symbolic representation of the Communist Revolution engulfing the Imperial system on China. That said, this quote can be taken more broadly as the small act of one can ignite something far greater than themselves, that a single seemingly insignificant moment can bring unimaginable change.
The second quote, "let 100 flowers blossom," likely refers to Mao's 100 Flowers campaign where Maoist China relented on ideological censorship and allowed open criticism of the party. This, however, lead to such strong and widespread criticism of the party that Mao reversed his decision and used the opportunity to purge the party of dissenters. The 100 blossoming flowers that Mao referred to is once again a symbolic message. The flowers represent unique ideas and counterpoints, individual expression and freedom of speech, which together could strengthen the party. No longer was the party a single flower, but it was a unified garden... until it wasn't. SGaP's line following, "Don't attempt to save them," might lament this. Perhaps it symbolizes the death of individuality, and the hopelessness of it all.

Bit more I wanted to write in this. The flower analogy can be furthered by this additional quote by Mao well before the 100 Flowers Campaign. Often, he used the analogy that communism was like a blooming flower. “We Communists are like seeds and the people are like the soil. Wherever we go, we must unite with the people, take root and blossom among them” (Mao, 1945).
This terminology would later be applied to the eventual 100 Flowers campaign, Mao’s wording seemingly directly inspiring SGaP. “Letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend is the policy for promoting the progress of the arts and the sciences and a flourishing socialist culture in our land. Different forms and styles in art should develop freely and different schools in science should contend freely. We think that it is harmful to the growth of art and science if administrative measures are used to impose one particular style of art or school of thought and to ban another. Questions of right and wrong in the arts and sciences should be settled through free discussion in artistic and scientific circles and through practical work in these fields. They should not be settled in summary fashion” (Mao, 1957).
Now, it’s uncertain if SGaP is endorsing Maoism, but personally I doubt it. They seem to be contending with the ideas, and ultimately lamenting how they developed. The opening line, “Power to the Peaceful” seems to be a direct contradiction to Mao, for example. Specifically, Mao’s famous quote that “Every Communist must grasp the truth; Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun” (Mao, 1938). In other words, it is force of arms and violence that determines political power. But SGaP envisions a world where power is held by the non-violent. I think SGaPs interests in these ideas, enough that they incorporated them into their song writing, indicates fairly Left leaning political views, but if my interpretation is correct, they seem to make it quite clear that they are against force and repression as political action. If they exist on the Far Left at all, they’re more than likely an Anarchist of some sort, though I might be grasping at straws.

@@sittingonceilings6805 I get it's a 4/5 month old comment on an 8 year old video, but here I am dropping in.
I like the interpretation, it certainly makes sense since we also have "power to the peaceful" in the lyrics, which could easily be taken as a reference to "power to the people" - a phrase rooted into socialist and communist ideologies.
However, when it comes to how it ties into the character the song is written for, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't think we're having these phrases pop-up to discuss real-world history to a fictional character in another universe (or to imply that Luna partook in purges back in the day). I think those phrases are there to serve as sincere advice through their symbolic meaning to a princess 1000 years out of her time, and that the song's lyrics are ultimately about Luna while she struggles to adjust.
Equestria is not a land ruled solely by two super powerful sisters, and it's not a nation faced with the constant threat of extermination anymore (relatively speaking). It's now a land whose people strive towards peace and value that peace greatly. Condensing this into a nugget like "Power to the peaceful" would help Luna remember that terrifying her subjects with her booming voice and threatening aura will only leave her powerless.
"She walks in astonishing health - little bit on edge - come on my foreigner" Sounds like the speaker (SGaP or an in-universe character) commenting to themselves on how Luna is physically doing great for someone back from a 1000-year stint on the moon, but that beneath it she's anxious and feeling displaced.
"I'm in love with the thought of sparks that set the prairie ablaze" could be Luna confiding that her frustrations tempt her to just burn everything down. "Just a phase" is the speaker's calm assurance to Luna that the frustrations will pass (and while the lyrics are apparently "fighting girl" I think it's "fiery girl" as a playful tease at her wanting to burn things).
"Let a hundred flowers blossom; don't attempt to save them" to me is advice that both reasserts the need for Luna to have a gentle approach in connecting with her subjects, and a warning of the inherent problem of being a nigh-immortal being among mortals. This is a land where the common folk have very close interaction with their leaders, which was probably not the norm 1,000 years ago. This would also mean that Luna may not have fully realised that with that closer connection comes the pain of losing others to time. Perhaps the speaker is going by own experience (and thus could be Celestia), or perhaps the speaker is just forward-thinking and making sure Luna is prepared.
"Let x be a sovereign: we can all define it." is the speaker expressing that in modern Equestria, the future of the country is to be decided by the combined contributions and wishes of everyone - not just the ruling body. This is a phenomenal way of explaining how the balance of power, duties, and agreements between the governing body and its people have dramatically shifted since Luna's departure, and give the princess the gist of how things work now.
It's a long essay of a comment, but hope its a good read
