You saved this gal’s guitar . . . and your own hide! (Keep beating him down, Cathy! 😂😂😂) This old Hondo got some major upgrades that will allow a sentimental guitar to be seriously played for many years to come instead of collecting dust. Nice job! 😎🤘🏻🎸
Shawn is the man. A true craftsman, I've lwrned more faster from this channel than any other. My acoustic players like a dream now. My first fret job.. Could have done better. Next string change I'll tighten it up but that guitar I traded weed I grew for free for. That's no longe made.and was 800 new? My nephew played it and wanted to trade his breedlove for. Never played a breedlove I liked the tone of. Not for sale.i said hahahah. Nor trade. Plays like an electric now. Maybe next move I install a bridge Like on Shawn's acoustic guitars. Strange I always wanted an acoustic built exactly like Shawns was designed.
Dude, I saw the the writing on da wall when you called Cathy a "Buzzkill" that a concussion was coming your way! Sorry for missing your live streams, but will show up to be among the fold soon! Awesome job building the new neck and Cathy's PUPs sounds fantastic!
Loved the vid, great to see rebuilds and fix em up guitars, neck looked cool , bit i was suprised you left the headstock with no name , sending the luv from UK ( old man from UK :) )
@@zolar55I reminded me of South Carolina, 20 years ago when I was in business and went along the brick street facing Washington’s Methodist Church and the beautiful music spilling out of the bars. Great memories 👍. I have just gotten old. Thank you both for making my Silvertone sound so good!
Sean that really really the pick ups are wonderful sounding Jesus that’s great. I had deserves a hard case that’s that’s great. I just can’t get over that. OK I’ll see you tonight at 10.
Kathy has that "EL KABONG" Action going with that guitar. It's amazing what our women do yo keep us in the right frame of mind ! Beautiful work Sean and Kathy !
I recently purchased a 1978' Lefty Hondo 2 hard tail Strat. from the niece of the original owner. It's got the same white body as yours, but with a black guard and a maple neck. It has DiMarzio pickups, stock from the factory. Most likely made in Korea. Tokai in Japan did make this model for Hondo as well, but was an upgraded "Professional" version and would be marked as such on the headstock. I've replaced the tuners and all the electronics, with the exception of the DiMarzio pickups. The guitar has Mojo for miles... Great relic look and feel to it.
I'm all about old MIJ guitars from the late 70s and through the 80s. Pretty cool that you owned your mistake and learned from it. I have made similar mistakes and just got lucky. Love the channel.
Dang Bro! If that's what you're gonna do you can bust the neck on my guitar anytime! Awesome work! Maybe I'll get at ya some time and we'll do something killer like you always do!
The color and tone really look good great blend with the body it looks cool , I got a new neck on the way on my mid1960's 2 piece solid mohagany old mystery copy sg , the fret job i did on the mystery not original neck my fret job was good for a week then the frets went up and down like the ocean and kept moving , and the rosewood is lifting now so i'll re do that and save that neck it has a really nice taylor style scarf joint so i think its still worth saving
Nice job as always.. Sickest necks I've EVER seen.. you've built from scratch.. and that's the hardest part.. blows my mind Everytime 👍🤯 On another note.. what happened to the live stream.. did you do it? I cant find it on here🤔 working alot of hours with holiday's coming up so I'm a little late but always look forward to it. Better late than never right 🤘
On the bright side, with all your injuries the hospital will name the emergency room after you. Just kidding. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks Shawn and Cathy!
A lot of people actually dig the old Hondo strats. Gary Holt from Exodus/Slayer played and loved one for years. He put a humbucker in it and it was his main guitar for quite a few years and album cycles.
I would say you more than made up for breaking that headstock. I mean you made a damn neck from scratch with her name engraved on it. That is some next level shit! And Cathy's pickups sound incredible!
Thank you for the neck brace gag. My wife and I laughed so much! We watch every episode and love your content. Keep em coming
Glad you like them!
The young lady will be well pleased with her new guitar.
Regards, Dave UK
I dunno about you dudes but I am impressed with the song Sean just played for us
Man I thought you were a setter upper fixer upper but to make that neck from scratch! Subscribed. Great job.
Thanks! 👍
Some of your best work yet! She promised to call me after she finishes watching the video

Great job Sean and Cathy.😊
What a beautiful neck and to put her name on the finger board what a nice touch
Love watching you make stuff from scratch like the old days!!
Hey Sean, you’re very talented. There’s no question about it. Nice job on that neck.
That's such a bad ass neck Sean! You rock! 😁🤘🎸
I got 2 old Hondo Strats.. a 1979 and a 80-81... Love em..

Sean, you need someone to watch your back! LMFAO 😂🤣
I have a 70's Hondo. Amazing maple neck( big fender style headstock) and factory fitted dimarzio pups. Another pawn shop killer guitar.
That is purty. You sure did right by that girl. Great job, as always.
Great job! If one wants uniform staining on wood prone to uneven results, there is a pre stain conditioner which is used for that purpose.
That's flame maple not just some wood prone to uneven staining. lol
Sean……I dig your songs….I don’t even like country anymore…but I like your songs….I can relate!

Well done Sean I'd have broken out the clamps and wood glue LOL
But that's because I don't have either the tools or time to make a neck
Man, do Cathy's pickups SMACK
That neck came out freaking awesome.
Nice job as always.. Sickest necks I've EVER seen.. you've built from scratch.. and that's the hardest part.. blows my mind Everytime 👍🤯
