This is what persuaded me to go with my 2016 cooper s , really liked the fiesta but as soon as i sat in the mini it was in a different class interior wise 👍
The auto is superb if you put it in manual mode but still drive in auto the gears go right up to the red line it’s simply superb if you know how to drive it 😊
I agree!! This was the only car that has given me the smile and feeling like a kid. The gas was 1.4gbp when I had it and I always drew it in the city like a go cart. You can’t drive it like a normal car. Fuel consumption was the worst though at 13.5 average in the city!
Love my JCW. It’s an absolute hoot to drive and I came over from an M240i. It sticks to the road like s#+t to a shovel. Test drove a auto and agree with you Tim….. hence why I went manual, so much better and it still auto blips on the change down.
Nice review! I've had mine for a about 9 months now, it basically rained for the first 6 months so I never really got to know the car, recently I've discovered the traction button and the effect it has on the drive, which was way more dramatic than I was expecting. It really wakes the car up as you say, and I love it now. Incidentally, I've got the manual and it's huge fun, I'd definitely have it over the auto as a primarily weekend/hoon car. Auto rev matching is really fun and effective and no real issues with the gearing but I believe it is still quite short, but I like that as you can really use the gears. Most people seem to get them remapped, as far as I know mine isn't, however, the amount of power seems about perfect for the car I reckon, and there have been a few cases of piston damage resulting in a blown engine. The car has thumping midrange punch, and is about as fast as you can realistically use on the road without risking a custodial 🤣
Not my kind of car, but when I see one on the road I know the driver is having fun. Also seen some moving as if really not stock, I was surprised to see that stock does only 6 seconds on the 0-60. Mpg seems about right, would probably get 50 out of town and driven gently (but you don't buy one for that)
That was very good review, and I must say a honest one I’ve got one and I love it to bits looks like you enjoyed that as I do when I get in mine nice one buddy 😃😁🤣🤣🫶🫶👍👍
Get a manual Cooper S like my 2015 Mini and tune and mod the air induction ect,no drama coming out of the JCW Mini here if it's piped into the cabin .Pop Pop POP?
4:45 since years ago this car has the option of dynamic suspension, but is no adaptive. So, your feelings in sport or eco should be the same as the suspension does not change.
@@TimWilliamsHD this cannot be, the DDC option was fully removed in 2020-2021. You can simply check that in Internet, dynamic suspension is for free and is the same in any driving mode!
@@TimWilliamsHD the LCI2 gen never had it. But in any case, new lci2 are now soft in sport mode because do not have the sport, nor DDC but have the new suspension. And you said right this is a 0 extra cost, as is not more expensive item than mounting the sportive one
I love the review. I prefer the new steering wheel over the older one. Thicker feel and the buttons don’t annoy me. Also the gearshifts feel quite beefy and punchy (different software?) nonetheless class review but love my JCW in all aspects.
Great review Tim - I feel a bit torn at the moment, I have an M140i which is ace but I think the JCW would be more fun, albeit less power. What would you do?
Totally different car to be honest, I’d have the 140i for power but at times the power outdoes the car, JCW is perfect in terms of power and chassis balance tbf
You can always tune the JCW - I have DervTech Stage 1 tune on my '19 manual JCW and it's loads of fun, much better than stock power. I bought Wavetrac LSD for it, can't wait to install it.
Ran 1 for 2 years Great engine and decent auto box The steering is not great little feel and notchy I found when pushed on high speed corners it feels floaty I run a stage 1 golf r at the same time Miles better, planted more Drove a fiesta st mk8 and prefer it over the mini in every way,, Looking at both worlds and buying a puma st as think would be great Only 1 problem puts me off it’s a ford
Brands are becoming less important nowadays man, more about individual products and what they can do I’d say..got a i20n coming soon what do you think of those?
@@TimWilliamsHD yes not been in an i20n yet but always gets good write up,, I’m a decorator so always opt for an estate thus golf r estate I use to run a caddy van for work and an m2 for my Sunday car but found as the work got busier never went in the m2 so sold up At least this way I have to go in the r
Great car IF it had the manual gearbox... Problem is if i was buying one i`d also want a sunroof and that is now only available on the confugurator when you spec it with the premium plus package which comes as auto only... so i`ll stick with my Abarth 595..
I love Minis and I own a 2013 R56 JCW, but the fact that this car does not have a mechanical limited slip differential fitted from factory is shameful. Even the fiesta ST which is ballpark half the price of this car comes fitted with one, albeit in the optional performance pack. Its my one gripe that lets this Mini down!
ACC is camera only - works better on low speed, but can have issues on higher speeds compared to a radar (or a combination of both ideally ) If it is the new adaptive chassis it is a "passive" setup that should be always on, no the previous en that changed stiffness in different modes.
I've had both and currently have my JCW and its waaaayyy better than my ST ever was, build quality is 1000% better than in the Ford

I totally agree @zappbranning … I love mine… it does exactly what I demand of it and the handling is crazy in a very good way 😈

Ah glad to hear mate! Manual must feel epic!!
I was debating going from a cooper s to a 240i- how come you went the other way? How do they compare?
@@matthewthompson507 240i is dull compared to the mini and you will regret it, get a jcw instead :)
@@matthewthompson507 240 has 1000lb extra fat, there's no way to compensate for that handling wise
It’s the grip to the road for me…❤ and the twin turbo in sport mode ain’t so bad either…
Just come across both your vids on the JCW. Nicely presented reviews. I am considering a JCW and this has helped make up my mind. Great little car 👍
My brother bought a JCW and I laughed at him . After driving it I’ll admit it’s a fun little car
😄 never judge
@@TimWilliamsHD it’s not fast , it’s not masculine, it’s not pretty … but it was fun
test drove one a few weeks back and ordered one straight away, hoping to collect beginning of july :)
Enjoy mate! Epic car!
Nice review fella need more of this. 👍🏻
Thanks dude!
I absolutely love your review of this car! I own a JCW myself and I can say you are exactly spot on with this car! Def subbing! Keep it up man! ❤
Thanks dude! Got another mini coming September so stay tuned for that one!
I like how you said this car gives you so much confidence and that’s true:-). Thanks man:-)
It does!
ive watched alot of reviews in my time on youtube and you make a good watch a can see you on topgear one day my mate
Thanks man, what a great comment to wake up to!!
Legend. You’ve got a great attitude. Enjoyed the review.
Thanks dude, hope you’re weekend is going well!
A good review. With a decent level of critique. I just bought a cooper S 2.0 countryman. And I’m really impressed with how it drives.
Thanks dude, epic lil cars man!
It’s a lot better in terms of quality and overall feel
Regarding the steering wheel buttons, that's why I went with an LCI1. Great review, superb presentation.

Considering a JCW, maybe I should go for the manual :)
I would if it’s you’re into more fun and don’t have to do loads of inner city miles
The fiesta st is fun but i’d spend the extra for the JCW, or just settle for the S.
Need to try the fiesta…this felt tad underpowered for an auto…
If you have the money definitely buy the JCW over the S, you will not be disappointed!

Honestly, the car is really fun as is on the streets, but it needs a limited slip differential for spirited and track driving.
100% it would be epic with one!
Very nice review Tim. Rapid mini you have there. Nimble, responsive, easy to park up. But… it’s your M4 content we adore more! Eh.

Comparing a JCW to a ford fiesta is wild business when I’m smashing both Golf R’s and S3’s without any tunes 😭😭😂😂😂
Fiesta can take a siesta…
😂
Siick car.. I've got a spag leg, so JCW on mobility sound goooood to me 😂
Could you compare it to a clubman JCW which has 4 wheel drive system.
We don’t get that in the UK as far as I know man

I’d say JCW so no regrets, depends how much is in it too in regards to price difference
