This is so 1980's - we used to go to a Restaurant, and get the hot-stone-Steak, where you would get your hot Stone, the Steaks and the Sides served to the Table.

They heated up a stone for 45 minutes in the oven. You know the same amount of time it would’ve taken to cook this meal. But instead, they took 1.5 hours and $65 plus the cost of a steak and vegetable. Just sayin....

There is a pub in our area that serves steak on a stone. They have a special oven that will heat the stone to 800 degrees and then they bring that stone to your table along with a raw steak. You then cook your own steak. It was an interesting experience.
I visited a steakhouse in Price, Idaho just like that. I don’t recall the name, but the stone was 800F and it was the very best steak I’ve had in a long time.
I work at a restaurant with stone grilling, you're supposed to slice the steak and grill the pieces quickly along with any sides as they lose heat fairly quickly and that's with super heating in special ovens.
You could literally get the ASMR sizzle “experience” with a pan. But when everyone is unemployed in a pandemic, priorities come to the surface. $65? Amazon take my money I don’t have!

We had a wonderful experience in a restaurant but you don't wait for the entire steak to cook through, they delivered it sear on both sides and then you slice it, cook each thin slice to your preference, eat, then repeat. The experience is the slicing and cooking each piece to your liking.
I feel like you could do this with a cast-iron get it smoking hot turn up the heat and then you could cook with the residual heat from the searing hot cast-iron. Sear both sides in two spots on the pan and then let it cook with the residual heat a few minutes on each side and then let it rest in there you go you got a perfect medium rare steak.
Grease Warning! I love black stone cooked steak at a restaurant. The restaurant has a SUPER ventilation system to deal with the greasy steam from meat cooking at every table. So black stone cooking in a home, you risk coating your floor, walls, curtains, HVAC ducts and filter, etc. with grease. Outdoors, OK.
I think the steak's too thick for the stone. The brown ring (cooked parts) at 5:22 looks a little too thick and the centre looks too just past rare. The cooking gradient isn't very desirable. Try a 1.5" thick steak maybe, and use the oven for anything thicker
Everyone is coming for me, but your comment is left alone! We said the same thing in the end! Yet, I said it directly, you said it sarcastically. I guess people don’t like the truth.
I worked in a restaurant with these, it was normally at a temperature of 360 degrees Celsius and we used the pepper afterwards because the stones weren't oiled. But it's nice to see that it worked so well, and the pepper didn't burn.
I don't cook my steak on the stone - I cook my steak on the bbq, I cook it blue, but when It's time to serve we use the stone to quickly put our pieces on as we eat (house family only) - butter, no oil. They cool down quicker than you think. If you love replicating something like a Ruth Chris, think of that stone as the hot plate you would get in the restaurant.
