Thanks for this video. Li Mei is pretty broken with big combos and simple to use. Most just spam and do the same combos with Scorpion kameo and don't really do anything else besides mashing. I do okay against her but they really need to nerf her.
make sure youre calling out gaps and ducking the projectile if theyre trying to do it on block for safety. the good news is is scorp overhead and her low launcher are both unsafe so just stay on point
@@shenles I’m just joking only because she got dragged int he’s story mode and lacks some stuff in her gameplay as well 😭😭 I genuinely appreciate the videos though they’re really helpful considering that I haven’t really panned characters I don’t play
@@RichwoodCman_5 she’s not even that good other than having her overhead and decent damage. The fact that she has no good easily hit confirmable mids, loads of gaps and a bunch of high attacks is why. Blocking low is her counter for the most part

Her damage output is nice, but lack of good mid string while being unsafe on literally every thing is insane. They even nerfed her lanterns so I think she will have a tough ride in MK1.
i hear you, i think its hard to say for sure this early in the game, also tbh Ive never been one to say "so and so is bottom" because theres just so many options at the end of the day and things ppl can do to surprise you li mei has a ton of pokeable gaps yes, but consider this the first hit before each gap is plus and the hit after the gap is plus so say you try to interrurpt gap, but she just staggers the first hit, shes plus and her next button will beat your interrupt attempt say you dont interrupt, if she staggers shes plus. if she finishes the string shes plus anyways sinisterruler (rly good player) is going to be maining her, imma wait and see what he can do with her before passing judgement
@@shenles I definitely see what you're talking about and it's very true. In my eyes the problem is that she can't really convert anything from those plus frames, because she has no hit confirmable mid. Even at +7 (which I think is her highest plus frame) you can get out of her pressure with a timely D1. Either she has to commit to something unsafe (F43) or spend resources (BF1EX) on something that other cast get for free. Sure, they can D1 punish, but if the opponent is patient enough to not let them jail, all she can get is occasional grabs. You're right this is too early and I may eat my word in a few months. I watch Sinister and Dab closely because they are super good and flashy players, but I for one know for sure she's not my type. Not that I mind low tiers, but if your highs are your best options then it's usually very difficult to play MK meta.
Fought one that did low over head into 3 hit pink blast back, just kept looping it and the only way i was able to stop it was with armor. Any tips for that
the blockstun may take a little getting used to. also afaik mk11 had a generous buffer window so that when you were pressing on reversal they would let it count as frame perfect, even if you missed by a few frames or so, its possible that buffer window isnt in mk1 (or its less)
Li Mei's f+4 strings seem weird. f+4,3 is a low mid that's big (-20) punish on block, whereas f+4,4 is a low overhead that's safe on block - is there any reason a Li Mei player would ever not do the f+4,4? f+4,4 mixed up with f+4 xx Frost Slide low was catching me, seems Armor attack would maybe beat both options.
f43 launches for a full combo. so in practice li mei only wants to do that when she has a guaranteed punish they shouldnt be doing it on block. but if they do make sure you punish it!
F43 usually a full combo death sentence at higher levels. I try to never use it as there are so many other ways to use lanterns and scorpion safely. A lower levels it destroys people though. Also after a couple f3 I believe the overhead drop kick. After a few of those sometime you catch them with it but you can get same or better damage safer ways.
