In the 1st 5-muntes of the instructional video, I would give it a 9/10. I have seen a few of these instructional videos, and yours is the 1st to connect the lines 1st before coupling. Even though the trailer brakes are better than they were in 1976, there should be what I call a 5-second charge. Hook up, push the trailer button in only, look at the gauges for charging. If it settles quickly, pull to shutdown. This is what is called a 5-second charge. You should hear a discharge of the trailer brakes, tell you the system is charged enough to go under. The use of the Flashlight to give a look that you are locked into place, thumbs up. So far The Best Hookup I've seen thus far. Nice going... Kudos to the drivers, great job.

Looks like you were (properly) trained by commercial safety college, like I was. It's hard to imagine for many, but a few decades ago we still had legacy trailers with no maxi brakes. These trailers would take off on you if you didn't air them up and apply the service brakes. Funnier to describe than experience, especially if there was ditch or fence behind them . I leave the feet off the ground if trailer is mt but touching if loaded. I see the guy that dropped it had trouble finding the concrete ;-) You can drop the air to get under but that doesn't help if the tires are hitting the trailer before the 5th wheel. Maritime drivers = the best!

I was surprised to see that you have forgotten the 3 points of contact rule when entering and exiting your truck.

I noticed there was a gap in the locking mechanism in the fifth wheel. Is that ok?

Don't grease the locking jaws on your fifth wheel. They're polished chrome and don't need it. I've gotten stuck for hours under an empty trailer because the mechanics grease the jaws, and once the grease hets old and mixed with road grime it becomes like cement and the jaws won't open anymore.

You’re crazy if you don’t grease your fifth wheel

This is not how you couple the Trailer to the 5th wheel. WOW on a real life road test, it would be an automatic fail. The exammer would say to you, ok you're done. Plus you have to tell the exammer you're Pre-trip inspection details, as you're completing each step by step.
THIS IS HOW YOU DO A REAL COUPLING!
The Supply line has no cut or damage, it's secure at the top. The Supply glad hand is not crack or damage, the fastener is tight and secure. The rubber seal is good. The Service line has no cut or damage, it's secure at the top. The Service line glad hand is not crack or damage, the fastener is tight and secure. The rubber seal is good. The electrical line has no cut or damage, it's secure at the top. The 7 pins is not damage or crack, I don't see any corrosion.
The 5th wheel leaver is fully out, there's no damage. The 5th wheel is grease and tilted forward. It moves up and down there's no extra play in the 5th wheel. All the fasteners are tight and secure they're not loose damage or missing. The safety pin is tight and secure, it's not loose or damage.
Walk behind the Tractor and say, The 5th wheel jaw is fully open.
Go around to the Right side of the Tractor and say,
There's no extra play in the 5th wheel it moves up and down. All the fasteners are tight and secure they're not loose damage or missing. The safety pin is tight and secure, it's not loose missing or damage.
After you back up towards the Trailer apply the Spring brakes and say,
As you can see there's enough clearance between the 5th wheel and the trailer. I will now go underneath the trailer so I can check the alignment between the 5th wheel and the King pin, the 5th wheel and the King pin are both aligned
the upper coupler plate has no crack or damage it's not bent or broken and there's enough lubricant. The king pin is not damage crack bent or broken and there's enough lubricant on the king pin.
Inspect the Glad hands on the trailer and the little lines that's connected to them say,
The Supply line are tight and secure I don't see any cuts or damage, the glad hand has no crack or damage the rubber seal is good. The Blue Service line is tight and secure the glad hand has no crack or damage the rubber seal is good, there's no cut or damage in the line. The 7 pins is good they're not broken missing or damage I don't see any corrosion.
After hooking up the 5th wheel and King pin,
Get out and look at the upper coupler plate, there's no space between the upper coupler plate and the 5th wheel. The 5th wheel leaver is in the locked position, there's no damage to the Jaw it's locked around the king pin. The 5th wheel jaws are locked.
Connect the air lines and electrical line. Raise the landing gear and remove the wheel chocks.
You are ready to do you're driving portion of the road test.
