They're outta controll at my work, and have resulted in hotwheels being put behind counters at several buisnesses in town. @@angel-ij4xvits almost impossible to actually find a hotwheels one since every scalper buys them to sell em for 20+, would rather spend my hard earned money one mini gt 100%
That’s why I don’t go for hot wheels. Hot wheels price is cheap but they are not detail and lazy work while I rather pay a bit more money to get the best of mini gt work. No resell on mini gt while hot wheels need to pay resell price to get them.
This is the problem that I have in the uk. As I have to work for a living, I never ever get first dibs on Hot Wheels at the shops and absolutely REFUSE to pay Scalper prices on auction sites - out of the 250 cars plus re-colours, I bought 23 cars in 2024 ! However, I now enjoy buying Mini GT BBR, Inno 64 and Tarmac etc.. The same price as a scalper Hot Wheels price but better quality and better value so It is a bit of a No Brainer !! And yes, I have bought the Mini GT Rexy - it's a beauty !!
Yeah Hot Wheels scalpers are outta control. Always gonna have love for Hot Wheels, but the scalpers are ridiculous. I've been using the SHOP app and found way better deals than what scalpers are trying to get. In fact I ordered 3 Mini GT Rexys wasn't even $50 and got free shipping and pre ordered the Mini GT Roxy. I went ahead and ordered the Hot Wheels Race Day set from the app for like $35 and pre ordered the Roxy too. All together didn't even spend $100. Really starting to get in the Mini GT, INNO, Kaito House. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, especially for premiums I'll get these instead of Hot Wheels. Definitely getting more bang for my buck and way better details.
Most of the features that you noted on the Mini GT are exactly correct. I can say that as I know got to know the team and drivers from their start in IMSA. I attend a number of Sports car races of IMSA, Fanatec and the WEC. I also have hundreds of pictures of the cars and do Paddock Reviews. IMSA requires all cars in the GT Daytona class to feature green number panels, green mirrors, green ends of the windshield banner and green endplates of the rear wing. GT Daytona Class, of which feature an all-Pro lineup of drivers, have red number panels etc. This is done for fans to easily identify the cars. The WEC or World Endurance Championship, of which your Sparky model is, are different in that they do not require specific-colored parts with the exception of the number panel. I believe that your Sparky model is one of those. And YES, you are correct in that AO Racing has never had green wheels, only Hot Wheels would come out with that gimmick. This one of the many reasons that historical collectors have issues with the gimmicks of Hot Wheels and would never collect them let alone pay a premium price for them when Mini GT and Sparky make better models. I know that AO Racing was much more excited about the Hot Wheels release as it would be made in the 10s of thousands and more fans would be attracted to the team. The "Roxy" could be considered as more of a collector's item as the livery was a one off as Rexy was racing at Le Mans. It was also very clever. AO Racing also has a purple dragon liver for their LMP 2 prototype named "Spike", also very clever. The idea for all of this came from team owner and principle P.J. Hyatt's kids...yes the kids started it all. James, as usual your work is first rate. I have a real bias for scalpers and how Hot Wheels create them in the efforts to sell millions of cars.
I would definitely take Mini GT. Here around my area, I could only get HW one from scalpers which goes up to $20+ due to rarity. But I can buy minigt one whenever I want for just about $17-18.
Exactly! If you can find the HW version all day for $8 and you're a hot wheels collectors then vice-versa would make sense, too. But if you can't, it makes no sense.
5:25 AO racing has spoken about this rexy does have green wheels when traveling and displaying the car they use the green wheels. The black ones are just the racing wheels. There’s a photo of rexy in front of the hot wheels design center and it has green wheels.
The mouth width of the Mini GT is actually correct, if you look closely the ends of the mouth is between the canards which is accurate to the real car. The Mini GT is scarily accurate to the real thing and so cool
The green wheels are real, they are the tires they put on the car when they are transporting the Rexy, or “show wheels” when the car races they put on black rimed wheels. Little Easter egg 🥚
Howheels still doing it, but for premium nowadays i go for Mini GT and Inno in the 64 scale and tho they release not much of these kinds, i prefer Kyosho and Tomica. Theres a big reason why MiniGT is up there now, they make great castings that jive well with die-cast collectors. Let those scalpers prey on the HW stufff, dont care much now at all. If they fall on my lap at a decent price well and good, if you lookin for it, id gladly let it go to you and maybe earn some extra buck.
If you get the boxed Mini GT it's even cheaper, like $17, Mijo is blister and has an upcharge. HW Premiums should be around $7, Rexy has already come down to about $15 or so secondhand.
