Matchbox used to put different scales on the bottom. That was because most cars in real life are their own size. If you put a Cadillac at 1:64 in a package it would be too big but a Honda Civic would. So they would scale it to fit packaging restrictions.
Haha this genuinely made me laugh out loud. Enjoy it! I was the same ones too. I rediscovered them around 2010 and was shocked coming to the realization that they make real cars. I'm not sure why I never knew that as a kid.
I believe the scale varies for the same reason that most companies do it, uniform packaging. Cars are scaled to fit the package. That’s why a Hot Wheel Civic is as large as a Dodge Ram. I also collect all brands, but “True Scale” is why AutoWorld is my favorite.

Yesterday a nice employee let me open a case and I finally got the Cybertruck! Also got 2 regular treasure hunts. Great ending to a slow year of hunting. Happy New Year
