wow, blast from the past! I searched "john cazale nypd" and found this. I'm a huge fan of Cazale. He was a brilliant actor who accomplished a lot in his short time on earth.
He was great. Ha!
Me too, I looked this up for the same reason. I remember he and Pacino shared so many jobs, I noticed A.P. was a guest star on an earlier episode. Also, the patrolman in this episode was Raul Julia!
Now I want to watch them all.
@@janethalken8269 oh great. Why'd you remind me. Now I wanna watch the conversation and dog Day afternoon! My fave cazale double feature. Followed by godfather 1 and 2
... " ALFREDO " ... 🤔
Fredo choking Charlie's dad!
I only wish I had seen some of Cazale's stage performances; at least now I've seen all of his film and TV work. And by the way, Martin Sheen supported social justice long before this appearance; he's one fine and caring human being.
Love Martin Sheen and John Cazale was a legend! Thanks for this. Had always wanted to see John's work outside of the 5 magnificent films he was in.
You get to see Raul Julia and John Cazale in the same shot, when they were still obscure actors-amazing.
I read your comment and was like, "Raul Julia? Where?!" For a second, I thought you had confused Martin Sheen for Raul Julia. Then I skipped through the whole video again until the rooftop scene at the end, and realized you were right. There's Raul Julia for about 2 ½ seconds, dressed as a cop, hauling Cazale away in handcuffs.
And Martin Sheen
Fredo trying to strangle Martin Sheen
Wow, Jack Warden, Martin Sheen, Raul Julia and the late great John Cazale all in one show!
Martin Sheen, John Cazale, and Raul Julia. What a cast.
What a cast in this-and hip music ,
i was in high school when this was aired. Still love it.
Raw, on scene, true to life
One of my favorites, ground breaking subject matter and innovative at the time. I like the way they switch the dialog back and forth, and the fast pace. Jack Warden was the star but, in his office mostly I would have liked to see him more on the street right in the action.
Oh thanx so much for posting this. Rare footage of John Cazale.
Wow! John Cazale and Martin Sheen in 1960s. Oh, and the 68 Charger(about the 9:00 minute mark) looked pretty good too.
love that sexy car.....put some neat wheels on it and.....yeah
CPT. Willard, Fredo Corleone, & Gomez Addams....add to that the killer 60s music. Cool episode. Now I know where "Police Squad" got their inspiration.
Martin Sheen, John Cazale......great casting
Loved this show - it was well done and so incredibly New York. Very realistic.
That red police light. Is this where the Naked Gun got it's parody opening credits from?
Yes
I agree. A perfect match
I guess I've watched too many police shows. I had John Cazale's character pegged when I watched him going through the photographs. Martin Sheen's character was just too obvious. It serves as a warning not to jump to conclusions.
Actor John Cazale was in in a serious relationship with Meryl Streep before his untimely death.
I had such a crush in 10th grade, I walked downtown every afternoon to watch 'dog day afternoon' over and over. When I heard she was his gf, not jealous, because I decided ok, SHE was good enough for him! Xoxo 😘 rip.
Does anybody see a young Raul Julia as a patrolman?
This show was filmed on location in NYC, so they used mostly Broadway theater actors at the time. Most were unknowns who would later become super famous. Seen in various episodes: Al Pacino, Jon Voight, Roy Schieder, Scott Glenn, Blythe Danner, James Earl Jones, Charles Grodin, William Devane, Raul Julia, Jane Alexander, Charles Durning, Jill Clayburgh, Richard Castellano, Robert Foster, Harvey Keitel and a few others. Great show.
Like Sam Waterston in the final episode, who continued the tradition on Law & Order with lots of Broadway players.
Certainty a high energy performance from Martin Sheen.
A piece of useless trivia most people don't know is that Martin Sheen's left arm is noticeably shorter than his right arm. When on camera he has to hold his arms in a way that people don't notice it.
came here for Cazale
*Show that inspired me to be apart of 10 years later!*
@RB
If I had it all to do over...I would've did the same as you, instead of joining a chickens#%t outfit like the coast guard.
John Cazale, wow, thank you! Awesome ~
Any word on all 49 episodes of "NYPD " from 1967-1969 ,are going to be on DVD In Blu Ray for the first time? I await your reply. Will they also ,be remastered and restored as well?
@21:11, Geez , Cazale, you must have seen enough police shows to know better. You NEVER climb up!! You're bound to get caught!!
Fredo from The Godfather.
Yes...The late, great John Cazale!
And the Deer Hunter
5 films....5 Oscar nominations for best pic. Why? Cause John Cazale, that's why
He didn't lock the apartment door when he got home. Foolish!
JOHNN :((
“It’s still the United States of America!”

This is a DAMN SHAME. This Series is not on DVD.
They should reboot this very same series.
19:42 Cazale and Sheen are fighting over who gets to play Cpt. Willard. LOL. Sheen 1, Cazale 0.
Great!
I live in NY, and don't remember this show..
How young are you, I have lived in New York City since 1947. I never missed this show. Damn Charlie Sheen's dad was young!
I know it was you Fredo. You broke my heart
Omg, hippies! 😂
John Woo's Hard Boiled also copied the red light.
Cazal and Sheen!
A lot like Robert Redford in NYPD
these police interogation methods are violating everyones civil rights left and right ridiculous
22:16
Grittier naked city
Martin Sheen is a better man than you will ever be Dwight.
A little overacting by a young Martin Sheen. Nevertheless a good tv series, way better than most of the crap on tv today.
