- The EFF allegedly received about R16 million in donations from the now defunct VBS Mutual Bank.
This is according to an affidavit submitted by former VBS chairperson, Tshifhiwa Matodzi.
Matodzi has been sentenced to an effective 15-year imprisonment after he entering into a plea agreement, pleading guilty to several charges that related to the collapse of the bank.
Hawks Head Godfrey Lebeya says anyone, regardless of their political affiliations, who has had their hand in the cookie jar, will be visited.
And Dr. Mathole Motshekga, representing the Balobedu Royal family of Modjadji says the airing of the "Queen Modjadji" series was never approved by the Balobedu family.

The question is how many years in real terms of the 15 years will he serve, likely at a low security risk prison? My guess is 3/4 years, which would be an injustice for those many poor people who deposited their hard-earned savings.
The sentence should have been longer. If he is so contrite then he should pay back all the money he has likely stashed away, to be enjoyed after serving a short sentence amounting effectively to a slap on the wrist. I weep for the victims of these evil crooks.
If there is any sense of justice then all the depositors need to be reimbursed by the state, which has a duty of care for depositors through regulating banks. Where was the state when this mass looting was carrying on?
