I had high hopes for this documentary but was left infuriated (was only able to get through half of this). The "specialists" (psychologist and therapist) that were in the film were deeply troubling to watch and use totally outdated approaches to "teach" their autistic clients. The scene with the "psychologist"/manager at the job training site clearly has zero understanding of autism and instead is forcing the person with autism to be neurotypical (masking). Anyone in the field who thinks this is okay should not be in the field. This is straight up abuse and has longterm negative effects.
Just finished watching this and it was Awesome. As an older parent to an Autistic 9y/o son, this was great. It helped educate me as a parent to have a better understanding on what my son may encounter as he gets older. I wish they had a Program in my town. This was so informative. Both Happy/Sad tears.
The new broadway musical based on this!
I saw it 2 nights ago. Inspiring. Amazing. Beautiful. 👏👏👏
