    I'm interested in your sponge filter for the smaller tank with the fry. I understand the larger filtration setup, but I'm trying to figure out how to set up a filter without the babies getting caught in the filter. Thanks so much for these videos, most informative ones I've found on tilapia ponds. You definitely know what you're doing!

      i jst used the sponge filter (ready use) the one we can buy at the petstore, sometimes i use hang on back filter (HOB) and use round sponge or foam to wrap around the sucktion pipe to avoid babies getting caught. Thanks for the compliment, it inspired me to make more fish video.

      In my experience with breeding Japanese koi, a sponge filter or no filter is best. The greener the water, the better the fry grow!

    • @Adnancorner
      @Adnancorner Рік тому

      First you need a small tank made of acrylic where you grow the babies for first 10 days. On the 10th day you shift to a net like holder, that have hooks on it on one side that hangs in the main tank. I had mollies and guppies raised in my aquarium.
      I made the net holder like set up to be kept in the same tank where parents were and they grew easily. I saw it in a fish shop and I made exact replica of it.
      Its a cuboid like structure that have tight netting, the whole container fits on one of the walls of the aquarium by hooks that hang on the glass where you can see the babies moving around.

    I would really appreciate it if you make a video showing what is inside your bio filter, maybe open up and take out the material layer by layer then put them back in. Since you are so successful, I think a lot of people are interested to copy your methods. Also, for such a big tank, do I need need to construct a concrete base for it to sit on? Thank you in advance!

    Thank you for this video. I like how clean you water is. Impressive. Some others do not so so well and I don't like the quality of the fish. How do you know the female fish has fry in her mouth unless you see the breeding.

    • @BackyardHobby
      @BackyardHobby  Рік тому +2

      Yes the taste of the farm fish is defend on the quality of water, i experienced tilapia taste like algae and has soil smell, it means it was raised in a dirty water, this is the reason i farm my own fish. Very easy to tell once the female has fry or eggs in her mouth, if u see the mouth is moving faster than usual and its more bigger and bulged like putting 3 tablespoon of food in a mouth in one time.

      if u want to raise tilapia that grows big, make sure you see the parents of those fingerlings before you buy them. When it comes to taste, for me red tilapia taste more better, it has the taste of ocean fish.
