I got the ADTH box yesterday! and no matter how many times I scan for Channels I can't get ABC7 in NY! but I connect my antenna direct to my TV I get ABC7 with strong signal! I hope HDHOmerun gets the DRM support
By the time we get 4k over the air systems working 8K is going to be the standard. We need to scrap all of this and all stations need to provide an app. It's that simple and it's that easy the right people need to do the right thing
Channel Master sent me email yesterday Feb 2 indicating the Zinwell NextGen tuner was preparing to ship soon. There is a review at the website from a beta tester that was positive about it and noted it was able to play DRM channels without an Internet connection. If they can send a test unit to you to preview that would be great.
@@superchip64 I received the same information yesterday. From the review on the website, the device looks like it performs well. I haven't heard anything from Channel Master, but a test unit would be great!

Yeah that's definitely a glitch and you're not the only one I've heard from that's had problems. I hope ADTH does more to fix this. The Zapperbox is certified--right now, the ZapperBox can play DRM encrypted channels as long as you have an internet connection. Offline DRM support is coming in December, according to ZapperBox.
@bandit8623 He's thinking of the past back before 2010s mostly in the 1980s-early 2000s, Scientific Atlanta and Motorola along with Channel Master built their cable converter boxes to last at least ten years many of them would give far more than that if not totally abused by the customers.
Update on ADTH box. It makes the sound and picture out of sync 2-3 times per two hours. It mutes the sound when you change the channel. It still loses signal randomly on 3.0 but not as often as on 1.0. And the only way to get sound to work again and sync back up is to change the channel til sound starts working again. Overpriced. Maybe $40-$50 dollars worth of value for better reception. Buggy.

I'm not buying a $150+ ATSC 3.0 tuner that only connects to a single TV. It's 2024, I consume media on many different devices. They need to either get rid of DRM completely, or figure out a DRM solution that plays nice with network tuners, otherwise ATSC 3.0 and OTA TV can die for all I care.
Well, a conventional internet connection would require 2 way communication, which wouldn’t be possible using solely broadcast or multicast. That being said, you could have a very internet-like experience with ATSC 3.0 and 5G Broadcast.
I'm usually an early adopter of new tech but this is the least exciting new tech ever. Of the 29 rf frequencies in my market, only 2 are 3.0. There's no room to simultaneously broadcast both so I'll just wait until they finally flip most to 3.0. Hopefully they'll have more functional boxes by then.
I think I know what brand you bought. The device itself is by no means horrible. I hope they continue pushing software updates and keep cleaning up the experience.
@@WNYOverTheAir So far it’s been ok. Like you say, it needs some cleanup. I’m in a fringe area and it’s a worst case scenario as I’m doing nothing right on purpose like a torture test and so far it’s acceptable. 😜
3.0 ATSC is beyond horrible in every way. I'm happy with VHS tapes and library DVD's. I haven't watched air TV since 1.0 ATSC took over in 2009. The local appliance store won't touch ATSC 3.0 and any advertiser would be throwing their money away to pay to air on 3.0. American aired TV is in a crash dive. NTSC analog is the only way to save it.

I just got the ADTH box and a few problems at the start but ok now. Wish me luck. Just seen these new boxes. I will say the upscaling isn’t that good.

Well, getting ATSC 3.0 equipment is a good step! ATSC 3.0 should make reception in Wyoming Co. easier
