I was so lucky in my life to have known someone who could have been her twin. She has passed away now but I have fond memories of the nights we were together.
Linda Ronstadt,my favourite female artist of all times ,what she has done to the industry and work after retirement,of course, her amazing voice and live performance is spectacular, been following her for the half of the century, blessed to be one of her fans and take care and all the best,Linda ❤
Yes. I was talking to an old college friend and she just said there is no modern girl singer she likes. I am the same. Lol said it was because their voices were aided. I just thought their voices were crap to begin with. Adele is our modern saint and I don't like her voice. It is one-note to me: leaden and lumpen. Linda, by contrast could and did sing everything: folk, country, rock, Tamla Motown, big ballad, opera and with grace and appropriateness every step of the way. She was The Eagles: "Girl Singer"
@@gordonmodel94jr.39 Waddy Wachtel was in there, too, doing the guitar solo. He was a very busy guy. Andrew Gold was there, too, although I think he toured with The Eagles.
Linda defined generations of music 🎶 always the best of the best Amazing talent didn’t matter what she performed she made her own. There’s only one Linda Ronstadt, I have listened to other singers tried sing a song of hers they don’t even come close. This is what real talent looks and sounds like ❤her music.
YES ! Linda Ronstadt is one of the BEST . That new gal Sierra Ferrell is very good also. So happy some of the younger folks ( Sierra, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, etc) are bringing this music back and keeping it alive ! Flash & trash only last so long ...........REAL TALENT lives on forever.
She sang each song like a young lady who suddenly, much to her surprise, found herself on stage, with a band, and decided to go for it. Just belted it out.
She had a way of taking a good song by someone else and making it soooo much better and before its over you can't seem to think that she wrote and was the only one who sang it. Her version of Paul Anka's song You Won't Matter Anymore originally done by Buddy Holly which was good, but then back to back Linda does her version and it just slays me!!! Same with Blue Bayou and that was with Roy Orbison singing his version before she did hers!!! Hers with steel guitar on it is incredible!!!
Linda was one of a kind..Loved her and still do. She is kind, smart, and gracious. I was fortunate enough to see her in concert in Hartford CT in the seventies.
Powerful voice, great range, along with a talented group of musicians. When you have all that, no need for pyrotechnics, gay backup dance troupes, and other such nonsense. Linda in her prime during the late 70's was the real deal...today's so-called "singers" shouldn't even be in the same room with her. Glad I got to see many of her shows during that time period.
@@normanacree1635 Doesn't matter. Gay or straight, she didn't need all that crap...just her voice and some great musicians behind her. Simple and sublime.
Oh, saw Linda at a Neil Young concert, no one paid attention, I wanted to tell everyone to shut up and listen! That was her beginning! Have loved here since then! Way back in the 70's!
I heard this amazing voice when I was 14 years old. Finally got the chance to witness her in concert on October 9th, 1980 for my 20th birthday. I still have the concert jersey and admission ticket, row 34. Cost was $12.50. One of my most prized possessions. Would gladly give them to her just to see the photo of her smiling as she reminisce of the good ole days. Thank you Linda Ronstadt for the many years of glorious entertainment.
Ray, I too am the class of 78, but never heard of Linda until last year. 2020. I guess I had my head buried in motor oil during the 70's. What a Mesmerizing Beauty.
I fremember the song "Different Drum" with the "Stone Ponies......I woulda been around 10/11 years old. I thought she was the purtiest thing I'd ever seen!! Loved her singing too!!
My gosh this gal was absolutely adorable and talented on top of it. It was sheer fun to be in my twenties following her and all the other cool top game musicians at that time. Music will never be as good as it was then.
Went to a Neil Young concert and this somewhat known just left The Stone Pony's opened for Neil. Not to often do somewhat known opening acts get a standing ovation. Linda did. My how I remember that voice.
@@lnl3237 Yes she did get a standing ovation. Things I remember are she was anti drug, her voice was so strong it hit the wall behind us and we could feel it hit the back of out heads. Neil Young was the only performer who sang "turn on the lights" as his standing ovation. Always thought that was funny as the crowd was asking the venue to turn on the lights and the concert would then be over. This concert was almost 50 years ago. Such talent.
@@corvairkid63 Thank you so much. Your description of her voice bouncing off the wall confirms everything I've ever heard about her live performances. Hopefully, there will be lots of "venues" in Heaven. Her 75th birthday is tomorrow. We'll celebrate with her. Thank you for taking the time to respond. All the best.
This concert appeared in my daily feed and oh am I glad it did. It was this song in particular that really caught my ears. Andrew counts it in with four guitar scratches and we’re off and runnin! I wasn’t too familiar with the origins of this song but I did search out its authors and original release from the fifties. Linda in so many ways defined the term “country rock.” She’s just irresistible - fun to listen to and this band she’s got..well..they’re damn TOP NOTCH. Love it!

She's was always great, but when she did that album that paid tribute to her Mexican roots it just blew my mind. Not sure but I think it was her great grandmother who was Mexican. None the less there was a lot of Mexican influence in her background.
Her Mexican roots are on her father’s side of the family. Yes, Ronstadt is a German name. That’s because Friedrich August Ronstadt immigrated from Germany to Mexico and later Tucson. Arizona. He married a Mexican woman. Linda’s father, Gilbert, is therefore of German/Mexican descent. Here Mother, Ruth, was raised in Michigan (maiden name Copeman).
Liiiiinda ! When she was smoking hot ! I hope she has had a fine life! And hope she will do her silver years in as little pain as possible. Love you Linda.
Linda Ronstadt, no other voice like hers. 🥰.
Today singers could not hold a candle to her
What a beauty, great voice, no tattoos, piercings, just pure sex appeal.
I've been in love with this woman since I was in Jr. High School in the early 70's!
Join the crowd....

I’ve listened since I first heard Different Drum and have never been able to hear a better singing voice
I think Anna Netrebko beats her.
The older I get, the more I listen to modern singers, the more I understand the greatness of Linda.

It will never get better than this. She is the best of the very best
Andrew Gold on guitar and backing vocals.
The best version of this song imho
Linda's cute smile alone, melts a man's heart..........

You wouldn't find a better pair of lungs anywhere...
Truer words have never been spoken 😉
They can hardly say; Turn the auto tuner on.
