Back when I lived in Sautee-Nacoochee there was nothing there but a few houses and the old store. The owners of that store were quite trusting because they kept a key outside in an easily found place. People didn't steal from them and the key stayed in its place for many years. Before that I lived on the river right in Helen, but it got turned into a tourist trap and I moved to S-N. I moved from there as more people came in and now live up in the mountains where there is plenty of fresh air, lots of animals roaming around and no dam people. Nice video.
@@derklavierspieler7491 thank you for the comments! I love stories like this. I’m currently watching The Waltons and this reminds me of the show a lot. I’m extremely interested in the history of small places. I have been to Helen many times over the years and I too have noticed how it has changed.
I now live near the Old Sautee Store . . . but I have been coming to the Old Sautee Store since I was a child . . . except in years, when I was living outside the United States. Love the place.
