Eating snails on the street at night time is a classic Vietnamese activity. Usually people will go out with friends and have several different plates of snails, some beers, and hang out.

One thing i will say is that in this video you both look comfortable in each others company again compared to when your dad was visiting and possibly just before that ,and good to see you both smiling again instead of looking like the troubles of the world were on your shoulders !
I give you credit for mastering haute cuisine vocabulary. While the vast majority of people say "snails," you say "escargots". Hallmark of a real connoisseur, a gastronomist.

I tried snails and they're chewy but lack any flavours.

Snails don't have much taste, it is the sauce which gives them all the flavour. Escargots in France are stuffed with butter, parsley and garlic.
The snails there are edible, unlike the ones we have here in the states: slimy and nasty ay eff!
