Hey man i got a 1972 massey ferguson been sitting for three years i think my Lift pump is toast im going to try this theoreticly what would happen if your pump psi was too high would the excess be recirculated back into the tank or would it drown the engine or build up and break something im three days in on trying to start this thing ive bled to death tried everything my starter wont take much more electric pump sounds like a nice option

Great question. A diesel mechanic I know touted the benefits and reliability of this electric fuel pump. If I add a couple of T fittings and some shut-off valves, I will be able to use this pump to pull fuel out of buried hidden tanks or other fuel sources. With the old pump this is not an option. I have had several mech pumps fail over the years. I know that electric ones fail too. Which is better? Time will tell. Thanks.
one big drawback of the mech. pump, is that if the diaphragm fails you actually will induce fuel into the crankcase (not good)i prefer the electric because it is much easier to change.
I'm thinking about swapping the fuel pump on my car to mech, I'm going to install a carburetor and I thought it would work better in that circumstance.
you sound like you know a thing or 2 is 95 GHP ant 5-7 psi too much for a ford 420ci 6.9 diesel the damn thing has already blown thru 4 cam driven diaphragm pumps in the past year
I don't recall the brand but, I do remember buying it off of Ebay. It was a Holley style regulator that met the specs I needed(5-6psi) and it was @$12-15 bucks back then. And btw, the system is still working great after over 5 years!

My service manual says that it can be rebuilt. It would just make good sense to have a back-up. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Looking for a unit like this for a 1973 Unimog 406... hoping it will fix my issues before I delve into removing the pump on the tractor.
I have a question for location of pump before or after the filters ? Thank u
after the filter
Great job...you got skills man!
Definetly. Having a back-up or 2 seems like a good idea.

My mf 135 lift pump was bad so I joined line together it’s gravity fed n it runs fine
The Cummins 6CTA 8.3 uses Bosch or Nippon denso mechanical fuel injection. Can this be replaced with an electronically controlled system?
Anything is possible.
What about the fuel pump activactor rod, was it removed, or did the old pump run off a cam lobe?
How to open this back cover
Was this a Perkins could you please tell me the correct fuel
This was a John Deere 4 cyl 3.3L diesel. I don't understand what you are asking pertaining to "correct fuel"?
how do i know suitable psi for fuel injector pump.. can you teach me ..
There should some info in your shop manual that will pertain to your particular injector pump inlet psi.

Thanks for the info. Thinking about whether I should do this for my Chevy 6.2L.
Thanks. This same fuel pump has been going strong for over 4 years now on the tractor.
Did you end up doing so?
What psi do that pump have ?
You don't need a pressure regulator. Facet Dura-Lift 40285 (Balkamp 610-2009) from Napa. 4-7 psi max. Perfect :)

Nice i use The smaller facet pumps for a lot of things .Also I,m sure U know that your old pump is fixable. Nice video.

homesteadprepper okay thanks
Thank you.
Thanks.
Why would you want to do this ? Seems like mechanical would be more reliable in shtf.
That looks like the same pump I used on my 2630 John Deere
I heard mechanical is better for reliability over electric
