Windows shortcuts that Microsoft is not talking about

- Let's reach 2000 likes 💜 Shortcuts are an essential part of Windows and make work a lot more efficient. Many of them are advertised prominently to get people to use them, yet some are so hidden and obscure that you wonder what is up with them. Today, we want to learn about a shortcut that is not widely known, people often consider crazy and weird, but also why it exists.

Dear tech flies, do not worry - Recycle Bin will be back very soon 🗑
(And no more AI pictures)
It still hasn't forgotten what happened on June 14th, 2020.
I’m very worried
@@when-the-hrandomstuff What happened?
i'm a b(ee) /j

Because of this video, I accidentally found two never-seen before keyboard shortcut, at least by me:
Ctrl+Alt+Tab -> Brings the window switcher but keeps It open for keyboard navigation
Ctrl+Win+Alt+Tab -> Brings up the legacy window switcher from Windows Xp, instead of the modern one
@@codrutx crtl alt tab is something I used a lot when playing some text based simulation games. Just made life easier.
ctrl + win + alt + tab isnt working for me but ctrl + tab + alt could be a life changer for me
ctrl+alt+tab is useless to me because you can just hold alt and hit tab as many times as you need. the second one is interesting for legacy reasons i guess.
you dont have to press ctrl, its only win+alt+tab for the legacy window switcher
Legacy switcher also works as a fallback when explorer isn't running
I have a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard with an Office key on it, but for me even though I had Office 21 installed, it still launched Office 365 web page. Never knew about the additional modifiers, cool thing to know
Here's an old shortcut from the Win95/NT era that's still to this day only partially documented:
Windows flag key + Shift + M
It is commonly known to Undo Minimize Windows, but it is far less known that it also can undo Cascade and Tile Windows as well!
interesting. i guess not even MS remembers it exosts because Win+Shift+M is used for the ruler/size measurement in power toys
I'm ok with the AI images. They're obviously just filler and they're more interesting than just staring at a fixed background image or some unrelated gameplay footage. And unlike stock footage/photos, they come at no expense to FlyTech.
Awesome video, the fact about it going under the hood until F24 is very interesting :)
@@nirlichtman big fan btw
@@SashikaSandeepa tnx :)
The power of legacy!
Flytech is finally uploading more often
I have a keyboard with a useless button (ThinkVantage, it used to open the firmware configuration on my laptop's default firmware, but its been back in 2012). It opens Bash. A key that isn't used by default so you can map it to an arbitrary action of your choice seems like a good idea to me.
I always figured those the linkedin shortcut was an obscure easter egg from when microsoft bought them, was never aware of the rest of them. I'd love something like an extra column of configurable keys on the left side of the keyboard but I don't know of many which has something like that much less that works on linux. Also I figure out it's manageable to press it one handed by using your pinky on the ALT, ring on the super/windows and control, middle on shift and thumb on L with the index free for an even more awkward possible combination
Nothing happens when I press the linked in shortcut (or any other of those) because M$ has mostl likely hardcided it to open the website in edge, which i have snapped out of existence
nice
Nah, it works for me on Chrome
Works with Firefox as default
just worked with my Opera GX, so...

The reality is there have been multiple attempts to add keys to keyboard. Historically boards with keys to control media, open common apps etc just used the F13-24 keybinds. But historically most keyboards have shift1-4 atl1-4 and ctrl1-4 with the total keybinds adding up to a word. Since most keyboards only have two of each every 4 or 5 years they experiment with adding new keys which don't always stick.
FlyTech voice jumpscare, a welcome one but a jumpscare still XD
Another voiceover! I honestly really prefer the voiceover videos, text based dialog is hard to multitask with
Edit: Also, win+ctrl+shift+b is my fave for weird shortcuts. Apparently restarting the graphics driver needed a shortcut.
1:31 "You probably already tried it out a few seconds ago" me on Android: "ah yes"
Linux is the best. I have used it for the past 3 days. Use Linux to love everyone around you. Linux is power. Linux is love.
lmao I love your sense of humor.
Ima watch the video while having 100 flies on my desktop
help me
After I learned about the Hyper key from another video about that keyboard shortcut, I decided to map Hyper to Caps Lock on my Linux system. It gives me an extra modifier key to do things with. Pretty handy.
heh, well but the problem is that a hidden shortcut goes unnoticed as opposed to the perception of upfront bloat because its visually there.
kinda odd that there are so many different things
this is nothing new: the windows logo key is also a regular keyboard shortcut: control+escape (for systems that predated the key)
if you install microsoft 365 the shortcuts would open the desktop app instead of the web version, iirc, not too sure if its a edition-based tweak or app based or not
oh and about the alt tab other shortcuts, the control modifier doesnt work in the classic alt+tab switcher. and win+tab activates the fancy 3D flyout version since longhorn/vista, which was changed in windows 8 to be a list of screens rather than apps and in 10 it got turned into the timeline
didn't expect Stevia Sphere at the end there but glad to hear it!
Fun fact: some tablets with pens also use some obscure F24 + other keys to signal insertion or removal of the pen from storage
my new laptop has a copilot key. it looks really stupid and i will probably never press it again
lol
Tip: try pressing ctrl with your pinky, win and alt with your ring finger, shift with your middle finger and finally, press L with your thumb to press ctrl+win+alt+shift+L, trust me it works
next key- press ctrl+win+shift+alt+tab+left ctrl+ right ctrl + middle ctrl + middle alt +left alt + middle win + left right win + top win +f24 +right f24 + f10000000 + copilot key + hyper key + left office key + 4 dimensional ctrl key to start your pc
Wassup fly.
Did you know, that the quickest way to like this video is to press another magic shortcut: Ctrl + F4.
0:07 me too! But very slowly
whats up with the ai generated images?
Would you rather have watermarked stock images? Same crap either way.

Windows should replace Caps Lock with a Hyperkey. That would be an actually useful key addition. Mac lets you do this with a small 3rd-party program, and Linux even has this built into KDE. Still haven't found an easy way to do this on Windows.
Powertoys maybe?
@@FlyTechVideos Oh yeah, looks like you can remap it with keyboard mapper module in PowerToys. Neat! Still would be cool if they had a setting for it out of the box... would be so much more useful than an "Office" or "Copilot" key, without any extra software having to stay open in the background...
You can open the Start menu with the Windows key and Ctrl-Esc, but if you hold the Windows key, it just opens once, but if you hold ctrl-esc, it "spams"...
Oh no please dont start using getty images with an ai layer on top
I love your voice! You should narrate more often!
1:32 without L, it brings up office 365 login portal
6:52 I paused at the right moment and saw the sea reference (?) lol
Edit: NOOOOO I RUINED FLY'S COMMENTTTT (Pin your comment Fly)

fingers and eyes look great, don't they? /s
7:51 I feel doxxed. That's very close to my keyboard model (including the layout). 😳
They knew
If i had a copilot or office key, i would immediately map it to a macro or change keyboard

Really love your channel, but please stop using AI-generated images as if they are stock photos. I understand that it's the latest in tech, but they steal from real artists and creators' work. Don't encourage them.
Don't worry I was in so much pain doing this video I don't think I'll ever do something comparable again

Hi
ai slop
using ai is fine it allows people to create content faster and there's no problem in that, it's a tool at end of day and it's ok as long as it's not used solely by itself which is not, there's actually good amount of effort behind that video
