However, the reality is vendors dont see her as being marketable because the average woman is not going to pick up a magazine and say they want to look like her. Plus they have her hidden within most magazines instead of front page because they know it obviously exposes the use of steroids not that it dont with men but it looks even worse when advertised on a woman.
With respect, I don't think they are trying to "look like men" so much as push themselves as far as they can and meet the standards to win points and win the competition. I think it's more about the IFBB's criteria for each category.

I love this. Not even pertaining to body lifting, the way body images are displayed now is completely different from the 70s! It’s crazy how things change.

Mr. Nubret was one of the best bodybuilders of all times. Just watch the movie Pumping Iron, he stole the show from Arnold & Lou. Actually his physique was so good that they told him he could not compete because he would of won the title and ruined their movie. When they finally told him it was ok to compete, he had stop training. He only had a few short weeks before the competition to start back training and dam near won!! This is a FACT!

Unfortunately, I had never known about Jackie Nubret until this video. She was so beautiful, and it's so unfortunate that women's bodybuilding today turned into a monstrosity! in my opinion they are transitioning. the voices are deepened, breasts flattened (many get implants), and facial hair. they deny it, but they use steroids and other male-hormones for that mass, just like the men use them.

Greetings ex- bodybuilder from Atlanta GA, these two motivated me soooooo much back in da day, i met n trained with Lee Haney, Tony Pearson n Tony Atlas. I met once Racheal Mclish n Corey Everson too ! I promised God that i would compete without drugs, of course the womens sport grew grotesque n with my small self, i trained for the health of it n help other potential people. Always wondered y the sport is Not apart of the OLYMPICS as a sport also.
From is budding beginning, the sport of female bodybuilding has blossomed into many facets allowing more women, more amazing opportunities to explore and become their best them. Now there is female fitness, figure and bodybuilding competitions, which is awesome! My hats off to any woman that dedicates their time as well as energy into becoming and being their physical best! I also feel regardless of how strong or muscular a WOMAN becomes, she always will be amazing and beautiful. The female bodybuilding physique of 80’s just morphed into the figure competitions of today.

I exercise with Jack O'lanne and he was a body builder and people till this day don't believe how old I am because I don't look it, exercise does play a big part in our life and it shows off when you get older.

Serg Nubert is one of the greatest body builder of all time and as the host pointed out won Mr. Universe 7 times. But they reserved the Mr. Olympia for Arnold during this time. It's important to note that another black man Sergio Oliva is the only bodybuilder to beat Arnold in Mr. Olympia. Jackie is the greatest female bodybuilder of all time that maintains the beauty and elegance of her femininity. If she was white I am sure she would have been better known. The Neberts couple was and is the King and Queen of worldwide bodybuilding.

I'm not all that pleased with some of the men, but it's more acceptable than a woman losing her femininity, her cycle, softness, hair, and let's just be absolutely honest, their looks because they become very unattractive and masculine.

I agree, no wonder why I love working out but find body building extremely unattractive. Jackie looked great for a body builder, she maintained her physic and wasn't muscle bound like alot of female body builders, which looks in my opinion like a man. Jackie looked like a well form ,stunning figured woman very well toned and curvey like a woman should look like. Maybe that's why she was well admired,. Not like today's woman bodybuilders, they look like a man, nothing like a woman.

Her body seems obtainable with hard work where as the woman body builders of today seem very masculine almost as if they are taking male hormones which explains the masculine features. Dont get me wrong it will be a total lifestyle change but it can be done naturally.
As much as I hate to bring this crap up right now...but am I the only one that notices how she went from being a beautiful representation of a Black Woman when she was young...and suddenly in her 70s she looks like a white or mixed race woman? WTF. 🤔
its the black and white pictures ... she look like she was always closer to light skin ... its just when competing , darker skin look better with Muscle definition... that is why Body Builders use fake spray on tans to darken their skin to look more brown or Bronzy ... that is what she was probably doing back than... and once she stopped her skin got back to its natural shade of yellow. also it could be that she also resides in a colder environment now than back in the 70's .. that too will cause black people skin to be two shades later.. it happens to me all the time in the east Coast during winter time i get lighter and during the summer i get darker.. but she probably was never dark skin, always maybe a yellow complexation with a tan or very light Brown. @ 3:51 you can clearly see that she is two shades lighter than him and more yellow with a bronz spray tan. she is pretty much my mothers complexion while i'm medium Brown

Serge Nubret was an all time great body builder. I believe Serge should have won the 75 Olympia. Also if you study the history of those old Olympia contests, they were rigged for Arnold to win. In one of Arnold's wins he was the only contestant due to rules that Weider implemented as a way to disqualify contestants from competing. When Sergio Olivia was the best bodybuilder in the world he had to pose in the shadows on the stage in a Olympia contest. On another occasion he got disqualified from competing because he posed in another event. There were a lot of shenanigans and dirty tricks being played to help Arnold win the contests.

It's sad, tragic and gross. This black queen was one of the most beautiful champion of the 70's era female bodybuilder. Her husband was a greater builder than Arnold Schwarzenegger the same way Sergio Oliva was greater than Arnold. Both men were black and no doubt racism played a role n them not being rank higher.

It’s Rachel McLish...sounds like “Tish” and Cory “E” verson. I quit bodybuilding because of the drugs. I had no desire to have a deep voice and a beard 😝😝. Serge Nubret definitely had the better physique!! Most black bodybuilders have fuller, more rounded muscle mass, and being dark/black makes the muscles more defined (that’s why white bodybuilders tan; check out “the black prince,”Robby Robinson). Arnold won not because he had the best physique ( he was blocky, with a square waist), but because he had the bodybuilding powers-that-be backing and supporting him.

Carla Dunlap was a very feminine bodybuilder from the late 70s. Lenda Murray and Laura Crevelle were feminine looking bodybuilders in the 1980s.

I am a natural female bodybuilder and the 70s and 80s look is the look I strive for. I keep it feminine and keep the waist tight. Not taking drugs helps a lot in that aspect

I agree, no wonder why I love working out but find body building extremely unattractive. Women body builders today look deformed & look like monsters really, as women are to naturally contain a feminine physique which I see has now been thrown out the window. Jackie and other women in the 70s accentuated their natural muscular physique, today women exploit and distort their natural muscular physique to match men’s physiques. Women and men were never made to be equal or ever LOOK equal. (For the unsettling can’t wait to talk shit trolls on the internet, this is simply an opinion).

Yes the bodybuilders of today are a joke!!! Fake square shoulders looks so horrible. The bodybuilders of yesteryear looked way better. Look really natural. I loved Lee Haney and Lenda Murray.
Wow bro. You certainly brought one out of the archives. I'm 58 and remember seeing these two in muscle mags in my teens when I first became wowed by the sport. Glad to see it thank you. This is the wonder of the Internet.
Jackie looked great for a body builder, she maintained her physic and wasn't muscle bound like alot of female body builders, which looks in my opinion like a man. Jackie looked like a well form ,stunning figured woman very well toned and curvey like a woman should look like. Maybe that's why she was well admired,. Not like today's woman bodybuilders, they look like a man, nothing like a woman.

Never heard of either Mr. or Mrs Nugget but I enjoyed finding out about this couple. They made a very nice looking couple in their competing days and she has aged well. Thank for this profile if a black bodybuilding couple. Also, from the pictures of him & arnold (arnold I spelled lower case cause he stunk as governor of Cali), I agree he should have beaten him a few times, he had bigger shoulders & a tighter core.

Her body seems obtainable with hard work where as the woman body builders of today seem very masculine almost as if they are taking male hormones which explains the masculine features. Dont get me wrong it will be a total lifestyle change but it can be done naturally.

As much as I hate to bring this crap up right now...but am I the only one that notices how she went from being a beautiful representation of a Black Woman when she was young...and suddenly in her 70s she looks like a white or mixed race woman? WTF. 🤔
its the black and white pictures ... she look like she was always closer to light skin ... its just when competing , darker skin look better with Muscle definition... that is why Body Builders use fake spray on tans to darken their skin to look more brown or Bronzy ... that is what she was probably doing back than... and once she stopped her skin got back to its natural shade of yellow. also it could be that she also resides in a colder environment now than back in the 70's .. that too will cause black people skin to be two shades later.. it happens to me all the time in the east Coast during winter time i get lighter and during the summer i get darker.. but she probably was never dark skin, always maybe a yellow complexation with a tan or very light Brown. @ 3:51 you can clearly see that she is two shades lighter than him and more yellow with a bronz spray tan. she is pretty much my mothers complexion while i'm medium Brown

Serge Nubret was an all time great body builder. I believe Serge should have won the 75 Olympia. Also if you study the history of those old Olympia contests, they were rigged for Arnold to win. In one of Arnold's wins he was the only contestant due to rules that Weider implemented as a way to disqualify contestants from competing. When Sergio Olivia was the best bodybuilder in the world he had to pose in the shadows on the stage in a Olympia contest. On another occasion he got disqualified from competing because he posed in another event. There were a lot of shenanigans and dirty tricks being played to help Arnold win the contests.
And racism along with those tricks.
Or, Arnold was simply better than everybody else.

You are 100% correct regarding the feminine beauty, elegance and toning/fitness of female bodybuilders of the past. What we have now are women who look like something out of the Resident Evil movies. It's sad, tragic and gross. This black queen was one of the most beautiful champion of the 70's era female bodybuilder. Her husband was a greater builder than Arnold Schwarzenegger the same way Sergio Oliva was greater than Arnold. Both men were black and no doubt racism played a role n them not being rank higher.

Serge Nubret definitely had the better physique!! Most black bodybuilders have fuller, more rounded muscle mass, and being dark/black makes the muscles more defined (that’s why white bodybuilders tan; check out “the black prince,”Robby Robinson). Arnold won not because he had the best physique ( he was blocky, with a square waist), but because he had the bodybuilding powers-that-be backing and supporting him.
I'm 60 years old and yes I do remember them from the 70s she was gorgeous and I'm still glad to see that she still does look beautiful
