    Noting the high cost in this campaign, I look forward to a 'should you back it' value analysis (if you're doing one). My instinct tells me a base pledge + apocalypse would be more than enough (and pretty expensive still!)

      @@callum5257 from the released information there looks like there are 8 new monsters being added, 5 in base game and 3 stretch goals. With add on monster pack 1 giving you 3 extra, no doubt there will be an add on monster pack 2 during the campaign, but monster variety does seem to be one of the main complaints.

    I really do want this game but I feel like I will never have time to play it and I am worried about space when all my other games get to my house. I am in the process of learning middara and that could take me a year to complete the game. When I have nova aetas, stormsunder, hel the last saga, darkest dungeon, iss vanguard and a ton of others come in the mail when will I ever have time to play this game? I only skimmed this video but do you guys think I should pick up the core and the new expansion or skip it?

    Game still looks nice but the entry point is just too high.
    Core + SG is obligatory, so 115 $, then you'd want the new stuff with Apocalypse, so + 95 $ = 210 $. Then I hate mixing minis and standees and they said the horsemen will be in at least half the scenarios, and unfortunally they decided to make them stupidly big and pricey, so another 89 $ it is, bringing it up to 299 $.
    And these 299 $ are just the "bare minimum", from what you hear you'd really want a few expansions for the core game since the monster variety is so lacking. And the hero trays seem like a must-have, too. so add on at least another 50 $ for monster pack #1 and the trays, making it 349 $.
    Probably it is already worth it to just take the reprint-all-in, too, bringing this bad boy up to ~523,99 $. Not even yet including the inevitible add-ons for the Apocalypse add-on and not getting any cosmetic add-ons, just gameplay.
    Oh, and on top of that comes shipping, with a package like this and at this time probably another 70 - 80 $ easily. And for me, being EU-based, on this ~600 $ price tag comes another up to 20 % VAT, making it about 720 $ for the gameplay all-in without any yet to come add-ons and cosmetics, like the dice.
    If you go the "small route" without the base all-in, "just" Core, Apoc, Horsemen, Trays, Monster Pack #1, which is what I'd want at least, that would still be 429 $ + 20 % = ~ 515 $.
    Suddenly, Stormsunder and Arena/ Tanares seem really cheap in comparison :D
    So yeah, hard pass on this one. Sure, not really their fault and the game itself looks great (minus the terrain trays, I think they are gimmicky and break immersion more than anything). It's just the unfortunate reality atm that at least for EU-based backers crowd-funding becomes increasingly hard to justify. Covid-prices and VAT-changes may have "cured" my KS-addiction finally. :D

    • @WolfanTerror
      @WolfanTerror 3 роки тому

      I mean... Getting the horsemen minis isn't necessary at all. You can still play all the bosses, you just have standees instead of minatures. I will definitely not be getting them, since I don't paint minatures so having huge minatures just doesn't interest me at all.
      And that hero pack definitely wouldn't be necessary either, with just the base game and stretch goals you already have 20+ characters you could play and that's a ton of variability

    • @Tharukan
      @Tharukan 3 роки тому

      @@WolfanTerror Well, as I said, I'd really hate having the end bosses of a game I'd have to shell out a few hunded bucks for anyways being standess, especially if everything else is minis. If there was an all standee version for an appropriate price, I'd probably take that, but mixing, especially at this price point and in this genre, really is a no-go for me, so for me the horsemen are mandatory if I get Apoc.
      But yeah, sure, you can skip that. You'd still be paying ~ 408 $ (115 base, 95 Apoc, 25 monster pack 1, 25 trays, 80 shipping, 20% VAT). And now you got a game where the bosses are standees. For 400 bucks. Without most add-ons. Cool.
      I mistyped with "hero pack #1", meant "monster pack #1". Though being clear from context anyways, I corrected that, thanks!

      @@Tharukan idk, being so obsessed with having minatures for everything seems like a you problem, but eh

      Hope you find another game that's better for you!

    • @Tharukan
      @Tharukan 3 роки тому +1

      @@WolfanTerror Well, like I said, I'd actually be fine with all standees, so you can't really call it "being obsessed with having miniatures for everything", can you?
      I'd call it "not being fine with spending 400 bucks for an entry level pledge that is a compromise not only in quantity but also in quality". If you are fine with that, you do you. But please don't be so smug about it.
      Like I said, if you are really fine with card board bosses, that's alright too, reduces the entry point to "just" 400 bucks. My broad point stands, that's way to high of an entry point. Any so called "obsession" with minis has nothing to do with that.

    • @Urek968
      @Urek968 3 роки тому +1

      I have the same opinion you do. If I get this game I have to have the 4 horsemen in miniature form. If I go the bare minimum and only get core and apocalypse wit horsemen minis that is still 300 dollars. Then ill be missing the other expansion content and also all the new heros. Im kind of torn on this one because It looks really cool and a ton of fun but I need to keep my spending in check. While it pains me im going to have to pass on this game unless they have the pledge manager open for a long time.

      @@buddhawasright Because it isn't very good. Perhaps watch some gameplay or some other reviewers (like Quackalope above who said it is a 3.5 out of 5). Alex (BoardGameCo) has it at 4 out of 5, but with several issues.
      From all of the gameplay and reviews that I have watched, Chronicles of Drunagor has the following issues:
      1) The base game has a 100% linear story with no branching (as discussed, they are trying to fix this in the new expansion). Currently, there is no reason to replay the base unless you want to do the same exact thing with different heroes.
      2) The setup time is killer. Alex said you basically need to have somewhere to leave it setup since it isn't worth getting it out for just one play.
      3) The base game has very few common enemies and you have to fight the same ones over and over again.
      4) The darkness mechanic is very fiddly and time consuming (IMO, it totally sucks).
      5) As Alex said, there are too many tokens and the insert sucks (he said they plan to address it), so he just grabs any token to represent whatever has happened.
      6) While opening the door cards is a cute idea, you have to halt play to read and do more setup mid-game.
      7) To get everything is going to cost over $500 bucks. There are many other games I would rather spend that money on like Stormsunder (already backed), KDM Gambler's Chest (already backed), Sankokushin: Five Sacrifices, Harakiri: Blades of Honor, Agemonia, or Arydia: The Paths We Dare Tread.
      The one thing that everyone agrees on is that the heroes have a lot of options to upgrade them and the level up process is very fun.
      Note: I did back CoD for several days in the first KS and eventually cancelled (and my opinion hasn't changed).
      Frankly, I am not crazy about many of the new sculpts either (like 4 heads, 4 breasts, abs for days lady as one example).
